Dork Wars Episode II: The Revenge of Joaquin - Nov. 12 / Jul. 13 PTR *UPDATE 6/30*

How strange that our Epcot plans always end up being so similar! Who ever would have figured that out?? Ha!!

MK day looks great! Honestly, you don't always have to do the mountains! I'm just not that impressed by BTMRR (DLR's is better in my opinion) I only went on space this last trip, and we only did splash like, 3 times, it was just too wet the rest of the weeks hahah. UGH, AS IF Be Our Guest!! Thats too awesome, I'm so pumped for everything in the expansion. Truth, I've ridden LM already, but the cue looks about a million times cooler in WDW, and hey, it's Ariel. The only thing that the expansion is doing that I'm not excited for is getting rid of pretty much all the princes except for Aladdin....sad face.... bahaha!! The castle is like, a million times prettier at Christmas, I don't know how I even stand it!

I also just started using myfitnesspal!! It's a great app!! I like that you can put your own food it, put in brand names, and the fact that it always tells you how much your eating, how much is left, ugh, great app!!

I did really want to start the couch 2 5K, I really want to run in a Disney race, but the whole Canadian cold outdoors kinda won over getting up early to run haha! However I have been running more on the treadmill (and by that I mean,, 5 min jog, 5 min walk) at the gym, and I used to be killer scared of treadmills! So who knows, maybe I'll see ya at the Princess!! Also, major congrats on your weight loss journey so far, you look great girl!! I know you can do it!

:cloud9:
Danielle you are AMAZING!!! Keep up the good work!

Awww, thanks, that's so sweet of you to say!

As a former runner my best advice for you would be to pay really close attention to your body. Running is amazing exercise, but it's really hard on your lower half. The reason I can no longer run is (back in high school) I was so focused on my goals that I ignored the constant pain in my knees and shins. By the time I graduated from high school, I'd run through the pain for so long that I'd essentially run my arches flat, acquired shin splints, and run the cartilage right out of both of my knees. Even surgery can't repair the damage. So, the moral of the story is this: while I'm not suggesting that you stop every time it hurts, I am saying that you should listen to your legs. Especially your knees and feet. I would invest in some decent arch support inserts (they'll feel uncomfortable at first) and buy new shoes at the first sign of wear.

I actually used to be a dancer (ballet, jazz, contemporary, etc.) so one thing I'm good at is paying attention to my body and knowing when something's not right. I do already have minor knee problems from former dance injuries, so I'm very careful with that stuff. I'm always paying attention for the good pain and bad pain. It's really great advice, thank! I'll also look for the arch support inserts too.

I am NOT saying that you should stop working out if one of those things happen, but if you start feeling discomfort take a few days off from running. Instead do some laps in the pool -- it's an excellent low impact cardio workout.

An app that I love is the FREE Nike fitness app. It's great for days that you can't get to the gym, or for days that you really want to change up your routine a little. It has videos of how to properly do each exercise, and lots of different types of workouts depending on your goals.

Keep up the great work Danielle, and please continue to share you progress with us.

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I will definitely at the Nike fitness app for additional stuff.

For sure I will keep everyone updated on my progress, because I really want to be at or near my goal by my July trip.

So glad you've decided to share your C25K journey with us :cool1:

You're doing awesomely so far! You look like a whole new person, and I bet you feel like it too :goodvibes

It was so apparent to me how different I looked when I started going through my old photos. I was amazed! You don't notice it daily because you look at yourself in the mirror every day, but the pictures really did it. I do feel great too, so I'm riding that high of how I've been feeling to help me continue in my progress.

Personally I first felt that high when I completed the 20 minute run. I just felt invincible! Too bad my body didn't agree and I'm now out of training with bad ankles :lmao: So yes, definitely listen to your body. There's a difference between the good 'I've worked' pain and the bad 'I'm injured' pain. Listen to your body when you get the bad pain and repeat a week if you have to. I didn't even though I could feel the bad pain building up, and now I'm paying for it :(

Compression tights are awesome. I would wear mine all the time if I could. Seriously. Mum sent me some calf compression socks and I wear them under my work pants after my runs.

I'm sorry that you're out of training right now. I've had that happen before when I was a dancer, and it was devastating to be out of something for a period of time due to various injuries.

That is so awesome!!!!!! You look amazing!!! Keep up the great work! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I feel amazing.

I started jogging in college along with eating better and ended up losing about 40 pounds. I also hit a period of knee pain and decided to focus on walking for a while. When I had it checked out I had a touch of tendinitis (sp?). It got better and I switched to walking a few days a week and running the others. Now I mostly walk (I am almost 5 months pregnant) along with doing yoga 2-3 days a week and I LOVE it!! Of course I am a yoga instructor so I might be a little bias. So if ever you're looking for another great physical activity let me know!

Back in my dancing days, I was crazy about yoga! I was doing it before it was a huge trend, and I still have my videos and such from it, so I keep those on reserve for when I need them! But I'll let you know also, I love getting tips.

I'm super excited for you and your mom to take your trip soon! You girls are gonna have such a blast! My goal is buy into DVC so we can go at least once a year or even a few times a year and have more relaxed trips (not so commando like we've done in the past).

Your TRs and PTRs are so much fun! Looking forward to reading more!

DVC has been great for us. It's really the only way that we're able to do so much and be able to just enjoy. When I was a kid, we went crazy commando, because we went very infrequently. Now, we can do different things and we're okay with it.

Wow, only 30 pounds??? Sure looks like you lost alot more than that... You look great!!! :thumbsup2

And I just sent my daughter an email to download the myfitnesspal app on her iPad... I get weighted next week at my annual physical... So not looking forward to that... :crazy2:

I know, it does look like a lot more! I am extremely evenly distributed in the weight department though, so I think it comes off all over and looks more drastic than it is.

Ugh, I know! I have to get my wellness exam on Friday for work so we can get our discount on our insurance premiums. I'm not looking forward to it, because I know even though I've made a ton of progress, there's still a ways to go.

You will not regret the app. I'm not kidding, it's amazing! You just have to have the determination to do it and follow it.

How strange that our Epcot plans always end up being so similar! Who ever would have figured that out?? Ha!!

I haven't been to DLR for about 5 years, so I don't remember BTMRR, but I LOVE Space Mountain there! It is so much better. I miss it.

I agree, what they done with the queue at WDW's version of LM is amazing. I can't wait to see all of it. And the castle during the holidays is the best. I wish they would do it like that all the time.

[I also just started using myfitnesspal!! It's a great app!! I like that you can put your own food it, put in brand names, and the fact that it always tells you how much your eating, how much is left, ugh, great app!!

I absolutely love that app. It's been such a lifesaver for me, and now I'm addicted to it, like "OMG, I forgot to put my stuff in!" :lmao:

[I did really want to start the couch 2 5K, I really want to run in a Disney race, but the whole Canadian cold outdoors kinda won over getting up early to run haha! Maybe we will see each other at Princess! I was also thinking of the Wine and Dine 1/2 as an alternative too.

Congrats, Danielle! You're doing so great! :cheer2:

Thanks! It feels great.

You look great, congratulations on your weight loss! I have My Fitness Pal on my phone, but I just can't bring myself to start counting calories, it's SUCH a pain! :scared1: Maybe I should though, after seeing your success, I really need to do something drastic, I lose like 10 pounds, then I hit a stupid plateau, get frustrated and gain it all back!

I'm going to start the C25K again after Disney, when I started it last year, I got stuck on Week 3 and gave up...I tried it 3 weeks in a row and I couldn't make any progress. Hopefully you will have better luck! Maybe it was week 4 I got stuck on...whatever week they wanted you to run 5 minutes straight...I couldn't do it! :confused3 I have to do it this year though, because I'm running that Royal Family 5K in Disney in February! I'm thinking of attempting the Princess half in 2014 too! :cool1: We'll see!

Joining in, a bit late (as always), but I'm here! Read all the plans so far and they look great and have you really not had the Mickey Waffles at CP? I am shocked! Well, still you have had more Disney snacks than I have. It is shameful, but another reason why I MUST go back!

Haha, can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Just wanted to talk about some random things. I've been reading some other reports where people are talking about their running goals, so I figured I would start talking about mine! And my current weight loss journey.

In April, I officially decided that I was over this whole feeling heavy, sluggish, and just out of energy thing that goes on. Plus, my work has really been emphasizing wellness for everyone. I just decided that I needed to do something.

So, in search of a good solution, and having heard about this from so many other people, I started using:

MyFitnessPal.png

My Fitness Pal.

It's a free app on the iPhone and it's also web based for those out there who don't have iPhones. It's really simple, and what I liked about it was the fact that it's free! Like, no need to go to meetings (a la Weight Watchers), no fees, nothing. You plug in your honest information like age, height, weight, as well as what you want to lose per week (the maximum you can select is 2 pounds), and your exercise goals. After that, it spits back out to you a per day calorie goal. You track all your food on this app, it calculates your calories, and lets you know how much you would weigh in five weeks if every day was like today.

Everyone, I'm not kidding, this was the easiest weight loss program I've ever used before. I lost 20 pounds in two months, and I've recently hit the 30 pound mark.

Ultimately, it's a lifestyle change. It's not a diet, it's not a temporary solution. This is how life is going to be for me forever going forward. And that's okay. Because I like myself so much more this way then i have before.

Here I am when I was basically at my heaviest.

And here I am on my most recent trip (in Europe).

I know that I am your mom and that I am a little bit biased but man you look awesome

It's hard at first, but I'm totally serious, if you start counting calories, you start to realize the useless stuff that you consume and how much you really eat on a daily basis. It was a complete wakeup call for me. It put everything in perspective. The counting part isn't too hard though. It's not as big of a pain as you might think. It literally only takes me five minutes every day to track all of my food.

I'm at a plateau right now, and I'm mildly frustrated, but I'm trying to look at the bigger picture. You have ups and downs. I fluctuate sometimes by a few pounds, but it's okay. I just try to keep it all in perspective and remember that it's the end state that matters, and that doing this will only be better for me in the long run.

I'm going to start the C25K again after Disney, when I started it last year, I got stuck on Week 3 and gave up...I tried it 3 weeks in a row and I couldn't make any progress. Definitely start it again! And if you need to, slow down your jogging pace. I started trying to jog at 5.5 mph, which is like a 10:40 minute mile. That's too fast, I'm not experienced enough for that. So, I've slowed it down to 5 mph for a 12 minute mile and it's going okay. However, I'm not ashamed to slow it down to under 5 mph if I have to.

That would be awesome if you trained for the Princess Half in 2014! Do it, do it! :thumbsup2

that won't be hard at all. I will let you pick :cheer2:

Really?! Sweet.

I have had the Mickey Waffles at CP. I must have missed that on the list or something, because I've definitely eaten them.

I know that I am your mom and that I am a little bit biased but man you look awesome

Awwww, thanks Mommy!

Joining! We seem to be on a similar journey!! :goodvibes

I too am losing weight and yes it's a pain in the butt, but so worth it. I'm also going on a mother daughter trip, although I'm a lot older than you are and my daughter (dd13) is the one going with me.

If you get a chance, jump on over to my PTR to find out how I started on my journey. I haven't read what it is you're doing to lose the weight, but hoping to get caught up very quickly. :)

By the way, your family seems like a total hoot! ::yes::

Oh my goodness. Be Our Guest will be AMAZING. I feel like it'll be even better at lunch! The same high quality meal for less of a cost, AND, they say lunch is the only time all of the rooms will be open!

I can't wait either!! :cheer2: Sad to report though, there will only be one room open during the lunch time. I was thinking that I could take a peek and see all the different rooms at lunch too, but alas they will not be open, only one of the rooms. The Rose room? :confused3 All I know is it won't be the Ballroom.
But! As you said, the food will be amazing and cost less. ::yes:: :thumbsup2

Holy cow, down 30 pounds? Awesome job, good for you!
I tried my fitness pal but my problem is that I don't eat enough (a very weird problem for one trying to lose weight!) so it didn't help me much. I also started the c25k but tapered off a bit. I should start that again.
Well anyway, you look amazing, congratulations and best of luck for your continued success!

I will definitely hop over there to check our your journey! I saw your ticker that you've lost 60 pounds so far, that's amazing! It is a pain in the butt, but you're absolutely right, it's so worth it in the end.

My family is crazy. I have no other words for it than that. :lmao:

Yup, 30 pounds.

I know, it's tough, we're all different and all lose weight differently. It's tough, because eating too little doesn't help your body either and you can not lose weight by eating too little. It's a balance for sure.

Day 3 Saturday November 24, 2012

Onward to day three!

Where are we heading on this day?

CIMG3062.jpg

Now, they should be having EMH in the morning, so we are going to aim for that. Why do you ask?

Because I have an epic battle to win.

CIMG3072.jpg

Because.....I ALWAYS WIN!

To any readers that have not participated on my past TR's, I am obsessed with Toy Story Mania. I'm not exaggerating. I'm obsessed. In addition to this, I am extremely competitive. So this ride....well, it's right up my alley. My goal is always to ride it twice. With AM EMH, we can accomplish this.

Because I'm coming for you.

CIMG3073.jpg

And Mom might have to be a little bit scared.
(please note that no Mommies were harmed during the making of this PTR).

CIMG3077.jpg

What else appears on my must do's for DHS?

CIMG3071.jpg

Oh wait, we already talked about that MY BAD!

CIMG3084.jpg

0d1f9c6b.jpg

(This is not a must do for Mom....but maybe she'll go on with me this time!)

Let's hope we get a new version!

I don't know why that picture keeps repeating itself......:rolleyes1

Later on, I will be taking Mom for her first visit to...

Raglan Road. Let's hope we get a good seat like I did last time.

c8ce2dfb.jpg

It will be a fun day. And hopefully Mom doesn't cry too much when I beat her really badly on TSM. ;)

I wish we had the ability to just ride TSM over and over because it's the BEST!!!!!

Fun day! :woohoo:

That sounds like a grand DHS day! I really wish it was easier to ride TSM more times. I mean, without having to wait for freaking ever. Although Paige & I got on quite a few times quickly...the luck of that blue gate on the right after the fps are collected ahhah!

Plans look good for this day! I always look forward to when you go on your TSMM sprees, though I'd be afraid myself to join you on them lol :thumbsup2 to Raglan Road, definitely seems like a good choice for an ADR. (:

Fun day! :woohoo:

I do too. I wish I could just be on it over and over again. Then I would be a happy girl. But dang that line is always so long! :lmao:

Believe me, I do to. I just hate that the FP's run out so early and that the line is always so long! I have been on four times in one day though. That's my maximum. :rotfl: And is all about the luck of the blue gate on the right! It's so nice to be a party of two.

Hahaha, don't be scurred! I'm really nice when I kick anyone's butt. :rotfl2:

I think TSM is awesome fun, but I'm really bad :rotfl:

Your other plans look great too :thumbsup2

It's a great ride that I think is fun for all. I just take it to another level. :rotfl2:

Congratulations on your weight loss! Good for you!!:banana::banana:

I think your DHS plans sound great! (Especially since they include the Muppets!! :thumbsup2)
