Dork Wars Episode II: The Revenge of Joaquin - Nov. 12 / Jul. 13 PTR *UPDATE 6/30*

I've seen those lists before and I do terrible! I'm not adventurous enough to try most things.
I have to say though, that Nutella waffle looks Ah-MAY-Zing!

haha, I think my list of foods I've even would be pretty sad considering I haven't even tried a dole whip yet. Some of the desserts sound good though!

Oh that bad boy of a list is coming with me!! And I'm forcing my DF, DD and any guests coming for our wedding who may be with us at given times to partake so I can get a taste! :thumbsup2 I can't even pick like a top 5 bc I literally want everything (minus pork lol) on that list, these dining reviews I follow have turned me into a Disney foodie :rotfl:
Always love a food update :goodvibes

Wow, I'm such a slacker... I only have 25 on the list... Looks like I've got some serious eating to do in my future!!! popcorn::

Hold on while I just wipe the drool off my keyboard...

That's better :lmao:

Ok, as a naive Aussie who hasn't actually been to WDW, I have a couple of questions :confused3

What are the treehouse villas? Are they part of Saratoga Springs? They look cool!

Second question... what is 'The Ditch' you refer to in Epcot? Sounds like I will definitely have to reserve an evening for cocktails when I finally get there!

And thirdly (and I've wanted to know this since I first came across it on the DIS boards, but have never asked for fear of looking a bit dumb :rotfl:), what on earth is 'funnel cake'?

You did an awesome job with your car hire! And all your plans so far are looking great!

Drool is definitely a side effect of looking at pictures on the Disney Food Blog. :lmao:

All right, here are my answers to your questions.

The Treehouse Villas are part of Saratoga Springs. They opened when WDW opened in '71, but then were closed for various reasons. But then after that, they decided to roll them in with Saratoga Springs, so they were refurbished and reopened again as villas. My Mom has wanted to stay there for the longest time, so this is exciting for her.

The Ditch is La Cava del Tequila, which is located in the Mexico pavilion. The term the Ditch was coined on the DIS. It's because it's so dark in there and really does look kind of like a ditch. But they have amazing margaritas and tequila flights.

Funnel cake is basically deep fried dough. A picture from the Disney Food Blog for reference:

It's normally covered in powdered sugar, but you can get it with chocolate, fruit, or even as a sundae with ice cream. They very good but VERY BAD!

Mmm that waffle sandwich looks SO good!

It does, doesn't it? I can't wait.

You know, you wouldn't do too bad on it, because a lot of the foods on the list aren't super adventurous. You'd be fine though.

I'll definitely write a Stringbean style report on the waffle. Just to make everyone happy. :rotfl2: Although, I don't think I could write about food as well as Stringbean does.

haha, I think my list of foods I've even would be pretty sad considering I haven't even tried a dole whip yet. Some of the desserts sound good though!

You must try a dole whip! They're really good! I like the combo flavor, pineapple and vanilla.

That's a great idea! That's what I'm going to do for our July trip. I'm going to look at my travel partners and be like "you have to get this! Just because I want a taste!" :lmao:

Just remember to pace yourself. :rotfl:

Thanks! The weight loss has been going well and I'm just trucking along. Working on the couch to 5k program right now, so hopefully I'll be jogging a full three miles in eight weeks. :goodvibes

I've stayed at Boardwalk two times, but my Mom hasn't yet, so she's super excited about it. I'm just thrilled about the location.

I love car rental. I look at the whole cost / value thing, and for us, because we're normally at Deluxe resorts because of DVC, we have to contend with bus service that's a little bit shoddy, so I just like having the car.

I love AKL, it's one of my favorite resorts for sure.

Danielle is so right about me being super excited about staying at Boardwalk. I still can't believe the waitlist came true. Super, super excited:woohoo:

I also want to try the Nutella and fresh fruit waffle, and the ooey gooey toffee cake, red velvet cheesecake, zebra cupcake....... wow this is not looking good for my weightloss.......:rotfl2:

I couldn't believe it came through either. I honestly thought that it wasn't going to.

Oh, ooey gooey toffee cake....we'll have to wait for that one, since we're not going to be doing Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch.

None of this will be good for our weight loss....which is why you will see me jogging around the Boardwalk every morning. :lmao:

I'll join you..... not sure if I can keep up with the jogging.:hyper:

I think I might have to copy that list to take with me! :rotfl2: Those food pictures all look seriously amazing.

I have never tried nutella. Probably because I know I will really like it and I'm sure its not calorie friendly. Nuts = calories. My program is I can't just eat the recommended serving. I would probably eat half the jar at once. :rotfl:

Yep that's how nervous I am about jogging:hyper::hyper::hyper:

Don't be scurred. :lmao:

Ever since I heard about that list, I became obsessed with it. I was like....must....complete......LIST!

Trying Nutella is such an addiction, staying away from it is definitely a good idea. My trip to Europe was the most I've eaten it over a period of time. I normally try my best to just avoid, because I too would be eating half the jar.

I think I saw this list on someone else's PTR, I might steal it for mine, once my day to day updates are finished...there is a LOT of stuff on that list I haven't eaten! :duck:

That Nutella waffle looks ridiculous...I want one right now! :hyper:

I love the Citrus Swirl, more than the pineapple Dole whip, it tastes just like a creamsicle, SO good!

Mmm, Via Napoli pizza is amazing! And I don't really like spicy food either, but the Jalapeno pretzel is SO good! It's not really that spicy, just a tiny bit, your mouth won't be on fire or anything!

Steal away! I technically stole it too, so you know....:rotfl2:

That waffle does look ridiculous but oh so good. I'm so excited to get it.

That's awesome that the Citrus Swirl tastes like a creamsicle. That's definitely okay with me.

Good, as long as my mouth doesn't catch on fire, I'll be good. I mean, I survived what I will forever call the Kimchi Incident of 2011, so I think I'll be okay. :rotfl:

Hello readers!

So I'm moving on to our itinerary for:

Friday November 23, 2012

We spend this day in the lovely land of....

CIMG3189.jpg

The Magic Kingdom! My favorite park, by far.

We will likely be having breakfast at the resort. Likely something very exciting, like yogurt. Woo hoo!

Some of our must do's?

Peoplemover....where we move people.

CIMG3196.jpg

Gotta go visit some pirates and do some pillaging.

CIMG3232.jpg

One of my favorites (seriously, all my pictures of this are nighttime pictures).

CIMG3238.jpg

Monster's Inc (one day, I will know THAT GUY!)

89b81c5f.jpg

A favorite for Mom.

And a favorite for me.

Mountain's are debatable. It depends on how my Mom feels that day. Sometimes, she has neck and back problems, so we'll see about those when we get there.

Lunch will be at...

file-8.jpg

The BE OUR GUEST RESTAURANT!

I couldn't get a dinner reservation. I have been trying and trying, and no dice. However, we will be eating there at lunch when it's a counter service.

Of course, another must do for us?

Check out the Fantasyland expansion and RIDE THE LITTLE MERMAID.

That's like mission number one for me. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, go straight to the Little Mermaid.

We'll spend the day at the Magic Kingdom. If we leave for an afternoon relaxation, we have to be back for dinner at:

olympus2010025.jpg

The Plaza! People, I have not eaten here in years. Honestly, I don't remember the last time I've eaten here. Mom and I wanted something different.

Then hanging around for...

2cb6beb9.jpg

Seeing the castle in all it's glory and...

Wishes and seeing Tinkerbell fly. I'm also excited to see the new projection that's replacing the Magic, the Memories, and You.

So that wraps up day 2! :goodvibes

Hey, there is nothing wrong with eating breakfast at the resort. We do it all the time. LOL.

Yay for Be Our Guest! Bummer you couldn't get a reservation. I'm sure everyone wants to eat there when it opens. Can't wait to hear what you have to say about it at lunch because I'm thinking that's probably what we'll do in April.

Aww, the dream lights. Seriously it has been way too long since I've seen those. :( I am jealous!

It's funny, because we typically don't eat breakfast at the resort, but because I'm healthier with my eating habits, it just makes more sense for me to.

I have still been stalking the reservations system to see if I can get one for Be Our Guest, but I'm not holding my breath. But I'll take a CS meal just to see the restaurant.

You definitely need to try to make it back to see the dream lights again. I just adore them.

Great day 2 plans! I'm jealous you're getting to ride the Little Mermaid. I'm going to try to go to MK later in the week and see if they are doing any soft openings, who knows, I might get lucky! :cool1:

Is your arrival day November 8th? If so, do you guys still have APs? Because they're doing the AP previews the 9th and 10th I believe. You could always register for those. :goodvibes

If not though, they are going to be doing soft openings by the 19th, but they are also notorious for doing them earlier. I hope you're able to see it.
