Doreen's New Way of Life (comments are welcome)

Hey, there, Doreen! Did you have a good weekend? I hope that today you're surrounded by :sunny: and :goodvibes. Remember to take care of yourself--you're worth it!:p

 ,dear friend,
Erin

Good morning Doreen! You must be very busy working this morning! :p Good for you! I know you will do fantastic on this project. You are tackling it one step at a time and are very determined. It is all gonna be great - I just know it!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Best of luck as you get in gear for your marathon training this week. I know you will feel very positive once you get going with that as well! :hyper:

Have a great Monday!

Day 1 of my half marathon training! Today I will walk 2 miles at an easy pace. Thanks to Amanda for posting the training schedule on the main WISH board. I've printed it off and will be following it - NO MATTER WHAT! That means I'll be walking 2 miles today, Wed. & Thurs. and 3 miles on Saturday. I can handle that! ::yes::

The weekend went by in a whirlwind! Friday night was a surprise 50th birthday party for a friend of DH's - a really memorable time! Saturday - a marathon shopping day with DD, DD's best friend & her mom. We hit the Exton Square mall AND King of Prussia! Boy, was I tired!! :p Sunday was a veg at home with the kids day. We cleaned a little, did a bit of laundry, watched videos and enjoyed each others' company.

Today I woke up late but made it to work. I almost allowed myself to get sidetracked on the net first thing but pulled myself back to the reality of work and have been tying up some loose ends like emails & phone calls. It's amazing how much I can get done when I put my mind to it. I've read my daily devotional and am listening to Christian music.

Breakfast was half a ham & cheese sandwich and I brought enough food to last me the rest of the workday. I'm focusing on eating small amounts the size of my fist when I am truly hungry, even if the food isn't strictly low carb. I'm drinking lots of water and have taken my meds & vitamin. I'll walk my 2 miles right after work today - hopefully I can get DS to walk with me to help pass the time. I will walk before I do anything else at home, no matter how tired I feel - because I know that I'll feel energized afterward.

Mentally, I'm in a good place, feeling confident and happy with my progress at work and my commitment to the half marathon training schedule and my focus on portion size and eating when truly hungry in the food area. I'm anxious to feel the results because even my "big" pants are fitting too snugly these days. Gotta get in gear and drop some inches. I know how to do it - just gotta follow through! ::yes::

Onward, inward and looking Upward! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

EDIT: 1 PM
I had 2 Fig Newtons and some goldfish crackers for lunch. I know it doesn't sound like much but I'm going to give it some time to see if I'm really still hungry or if I'm just "mind-hungry". I'm on my 3rd mug of water.

Work is going well today! ::yes::

Good morning Doe!:sunny:

You sound very upbeat and positive today!:teeth: Your goals sound really good too. I hope you have a wonderful week!

Good Morning Doe! I see you are going to be sticking with the marathon training schedule as well! Trust me we will be doing it tonight come hell or high water. DH is already starting to whine because there is rain in the forecast - I told him to get over it! :)
I am actually looking forward to it - as strange as that may sound.

Lets keep each other motivated! Maybe we should set a time to chat every week to keep each other in check. Your schedule is busier then mine so just let me know when you are available.

~Amanda

Hi Doe,

You sound like a woman with a plan. I know that you can do this, and those fat pants will be a thing of history. Your training schedule sounds really doable. I need to check out that thread. I hope the rest of your afternoon went smoothly.

Enjoy your walk with DS today.
Beth

Hi Doreen,
I finally finished reading your journal. Do you believe that I haven't posted since page 114? It has taken me most of a week, reading a few pages at a time to catch up...:p

I just wanted to let you know that I get alot of inspiration from your story. Like you, I'm a "middle-ager" with busy teenagers and a full time job. I really enjoy how you analyze each day's successes and struggles. Like you, I deal with stress-induced emotional eating...( I used to smoke under stress...now I eat )
I admire how you set goals each day and remain flexible depending on how the day goes...

I hope your walk went well today. I'll be rooting for you...continued success with your marathon training!!

:wave2: Hi Doe,
I hope you had a fabulous walk today :) . Your weekend sounded busy but a like a lot of fun. I just love those marathon shopping trips. They are tiring but so much fun ::yes:: !

Hope you have a great Tuesday :sunny: !

Good morning, WISH-sis.:wave2: What's your exercise strategy for rain? Do you walk in it anyway? Whatever you do for exercise today, you know that it'll make you feel well and strong, so GO FOR IT! Remember, little portions for your dainty little stomach.:p You're a princess, after all, so eat like one!

 ,
Erin

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Thank you all for stopping by! I was feeling down but coming here and reading notes from all my WISH buddies has lifted me up. You are the best and I am truly blessed to be a part of this group! :flower3:

I did get my walk in last evening. DS was nice enough to accompany me and we had a good time talking and walking together. He's turning out to be an amazing young man!

I did well in the food department until I got home. I MUST eat a snack before I leave work - whether I'm hungry or not. If I get home and am hungry, there is just no hope.

Today, I'll be remembering my dainty princess: -sized tummy - thanks for a great visual, Erin!! Breakfast was half a ham & cheese sandwich and some applesauce.

Onward, inward, and downward, all while looking Upward! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

:rotfl: Doe,

That is just what I needed. A dainty princess: stomach. You are right, it is a great visual. It sounds like you have a good plan for battling the evening munchies. Doe, have you tried the Hormel ready made potroasts? They have a few of them. You boil for 100 minutes, and then the roast is ready to eat. Throw a salad and a quick veggie with it, and it is not a bad lc meal. Quick and easy.

I hope your day at work is a quiet one with no struggles.

Take care,
Beth

Beth, I've never heard of those Hormel potroasts but you can bet I'll be at the store looking for them tonight!! Thanks!!

Hi doe, glad your feeling positive and motivated, keep it up and i'm sure the pounds will melt away, i like your idea about eating lots of small portions, hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by on my journal! Take care:teeth:

Good Morning dainty princess: Doe! :) I am so glad to hear that you got in your walk last night! Great Job! We were certainly :cool1: walking the walk together last night.

Erin asked a good question about rain and walking - our plan right now is that unless it is pouring and lightening we are walking! If it is dangerous then we will stay home and make up the time later in the week. Those are just our thoughts. Personally I'm more concerned about when it starts to snow - but we've a good month until then.

~Amanda

   Amanda!! How could you put that 4 letter S word in my journal!!! We're not going to get any of that S stuff here this winter, at least not until AFTER the half!!
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I haven't really thought about training in the rain. However, I like Amanda's idea - a little rain shouldn't stop me, but I won't walk in thunder & lightning or in a hard rain when hail is a possibility. I always have my WATP DVDs to fall back on, I suppose, if I have to get some indoor exercise.

Doe I hope you had awonderful day! Did you walk today? I hope it was as enjoyable as yesterday!:teeth:

Have a great evening and STAY AWAY FROM THOSE NASTY CARBS!!!!!!:Pinkbounc

Hi Doreen! It's been so long since I dropped by, I had to come over and say a quick hello. You've been so kind to keep up with my journal even though I haven't been posting nearly as often. I see you're still doing a great job and wow, I sure admire you for keeping up with exercise on a regular basis! I really appreciate all of your encouragement along with all of my other WISH buds that still drop by my journal from time to time. Take care and hang in there!:D
