Doreen's New Way of Life (comments are welcome)

Doe, I'm sorry to hear that your son is going through a rough spot right now. I will keep him in my prayers. I also want to say I respect you so much for not going into details about his problems and respecting his privacy, you are a good mother. I hope things go well at his job interview!

:sunny: Good morning! :sunny:

It's such a beautiful sunny day with deep blue skies - hard to be anything but sunny this morning! :p

DS had a good interview and was offered a job. It's nothing glamorous - bathroom detail, cleaning the theater between shows, ushering and concession stand duties - but he's leaning toward taking it. Sometimes it's a nice boost just to get the offer, ya know? He had a friend stay overnight - they played video games until 3 AM. :p We're doing all we can to help him have a positive weekend.

DD and I spent lots of mall time yesterday - always fun. I really do enjoy the company of my kids. ::yes:: We were smart enough to buy the baby shower gifts at a store which will gift wrap them for free! :teeth:

Today - Sunday School and the baby shower. Then home for some laundry and relaxation, along with some homework monitoring. Should be a happy sunny day!

Good morning Doreen,

Have a great time at Sunday School and the baby shower. It should definately be a relaxing day. Good job with the gift wrap.

I'm so glad things are looking up for your son. The job might be the opportunity for hime to not only make money, but new friends. He'll even catch a movie or two. I hope his Sunday conitnues to be a happy one. You all are in my prayers.
Beth

Hi Doreen!:sunny:

I just spent the last few minutes catching up on your journal, and I have said prayers for your son. Yes, it is so difficult when our children are hurting--and at this age you just can't slap a band-aid on the problem, give him a kiss and know everything will be fine. Adolescence/young adulthood can be such a confusing time in life, and I'm hoping the good news about his job offer makes him happy. My good thoughts and best wishes go out to him (and his mom, too ;) )!

Have a fun time at the baby shower and enjoy the rest of your Sunday (I'm on laundry detail, too :crazy2: )!

Oooh, it sounds like a good day!::yes:: Did you get any flooding in your town, Doreen? My DSister said that out near G-burg they had some water and a tornado touched down in the area. No problems for her, though.

Glad things worked out for DS. . . has he decided about the job yet? And mall time with DD sounded like fun, too. You didn't by any chance go to Vicky's and buy the store out again, did you?!:p

Enjoy your Sunday and the sunny skies,
Erin

Doreen...that is nice that your son was offered the job. He should think of getting to see the movies too! That's a perk.

Sounds like you are having a great weekend. I enjoy the time I spend with my kids as well. It's nice that I can still relate to them and the changes they are going through..each is going through something different...but is unique to their personality. You are right...when they hurt...we hurt and even though we know that things will work out in the end...it's hard for them to realize this and no matter what we say it doesn't make it easier for them.

Keep the positive outlook strong! You are doing wonderful!

Enjoy your week (and the Monday off)!

Gail

I have the day off, but so do all the other workers in downtown Harrisburg. The flooding there is pretty bad - lots of closed streets, etc. Our town doesn't flood so we're fine, but lots of other towns in the area are having troubles with floodwaters, thanks to Hurricane Ivan passing over us and drowning us with water and wind.

DS is at school, making up a test he missed on Friday. I'm getting ready to take DD to school soon, so I only have a minute. The day will be a busy one, but I'll be sure to create some relax time in there somewhere. DS is taking the job at the theater - free movies, popcorn and soda for employees! We have to get his working papers finished this week and go shopping for uniform clothes, complete with black bow tie! :teeth:

I'm heading out with DD but will be makiing good food choices today! Later!

:sunny: and :D for your new day, dear Doreen. Sounds like you have a bounce in your step and you're eagerly moving out into Monday!

Don't forget your meds and vitamins, OK?::yes::

Hmmm, the ole countdown clock says 2 and 1/2 weeks until WDW. It won't be long!

 ,
Erin

Hi Doe,
Sorry I haven't been around much - I'm glad to hear that DS is feeling better. Try to take some time to do something for yourself today! :)

:wave2: Hi Doe,
Yippe for your son's new job :Pinkbounc ! That sounds like a lot of fun :teeth: . Hope you have a great Monday :sunny: !

Hi Doe! :wave2:

A big CONGRATULATIONS to your son! :cheer2: I hope this lifts up his spirits and that he meets a lot of nice, new people! Mmmmmmm...free popcorn! :hyper:

Enjoy your Monday Doreen :sunny: and I do hope that those in your surrounding communities are Ivan-safe and well.

Have a great day! :)

Doe, I hope your son loves working at the theatre. Some of my happiest days as a teenager were when my brother and one of my friends worked at a movie theatre. I used to get to go to all the midnight movie premiers they did for the employees. :teeth:

I hope you had a wonderful day! :sunny:

My desk at work is feeling very comforting at the moment. I'm glad to be back into my workday routine - predictable!

Yesterday was a whirlwind of activity. I was at the school 5 times  and I even skipped Parents' Night last night. :p My food choices were not the best, either.

I brought my food to work today, including a whole bag of baby carrots. While they may not be low-carb, they've gotta be better than EVM stuff if I feel stressed. ::yes:: I also have an apple and peanut butter for breakfast and another Uncle Ben's rice bowl for lunch. I'll be drinking my water & taking my pills in a few minutes.

I'm going to post this and then take a few moments to pray about my day and about my choices.

I'll try to get around to journals but I also need to prep for the class I teach tomorrow and Thursday.

Hi Doe,

I'm glad you aree having a "comfort zone"day. Routine can be underrated. Great job bringing healthy snacks with you.:bounce: :Pinkbounc I hope the day runs smoothly, and the class goes well tomorrow.
Have a good one,
Beth

Hi Doe! :wave2:

I'm glad you're in the Comfort Zone today! I took one of those days yesterday. I like routine, also--I think it was the regimental influence of my Marine Corps Drill Instructor father:

"Dinner at 6:00, missy, and if you're not in this house by 6:00, you will be considered AWOL, are we clear on the Dinner Specifics as I have presented them to you?!"

"Yes, sir!"

"Very well, then. At ease soldier, and come give your old dad a hug."

:p :p :p

Have a great day, Doreen! :sunny:

sounds like you have been having a stressful time:( I'm sending sunshine & hugs your way:sunny:

Here's to good choices today::yes::

another disney trip - you are a true princessprincess: Have a terrific tuesday:wave:

Doe:

Please tell your DS congrats on getting the job. I worked almost my entire time in HS and fulltime while in College. My only restriction on it would be that he saves at least half of what he makes towards long-term goals. He will thank himself later.

I know that you will have a successful class, but I'm wishing you good luck anyway.

-Laurie:sunny:

 Hi Doe,
Just stopping in to wish you a good evening. Good luck with the class tomorrow :D .
