We attended the Doorway to Dreams DIS /Podcast Meet this morning and had a fantastic time!

We had a great group all ready to go up there promptly at 9 am today. We live about 40 miles away, but it was an easy drive with little Sunday morning traffic.

We were greeted by the staff and encouraged to come in, walk around and tour the BLT models if we like. We took advantage of that, as we always enjoy checking them out.

We paid particular attention to the bathroom sliding doors, since this seems to be something a tad controversial with some of the first guests of the resort. Complaints have included a space being left between the door and the wall when closed, and no locks. There were no locks on the models either. The one in the studio model actually appeared to be off the track, or not quite right at all. The master bath, however, closed completely leaving no gap. The Guides did tell us to not go by this example, however.

On we went inside the presentation room which was set up theatre style. They offered "sky box" seating too, lol. It reminded me of the crying room in our church, lol. John and I grabbed a couple of the comfy, overstuffed chairs and grabbed ourselves a beverage - decaf for me and a bottle of water for him. They had a lovely spread of breakfast pastries, donut holes and cakes in another room, too.

Everyone had been instructed to bring a family photo, Disney related of course. We all took turns describing our photos and then placed them into a shopping bag where a winning family would be drawn later. The winners received a nice Doorway to Dreams travel bag with goodies packed inside of it. I brought our picture from June at the Norway Princess dinner, while we were visiting on our Grand Prize, Doorway to Dreams anniversary trip that we had won last year. Great memories were shared.. :)

We watched a video presentation which included a fantastic rundown of the expansion plans for Disneyland over the next 3 years. California Adventure will be having some great new additions, including Cars Land, based on the popular movie. The big feature attraction there will be Radiator Springs. It is a road ride that is segmented into 3 parts. It starts out as a romantic ride, then a ride in the dark, ending with a fast, major road race. Scheduled completion date for Cars Land will be in 2012.

The Paradise Pier area is also being refurbished and will feature The Little Mermaid. There is also Midway Mania which I believe is opening in the not too distant future.

Derek was great and gave a wonderful presentation. They had up some of the staff being trained for the new Doorway to Dreams which will be opening in Long Island, NY. Nice to hear some East Coast accents, lol.

The other big news was the announcement that Member Referral Incentives will be ending on August 25. If anyone is sitting on the fence, but wants to be sure to take advantage of this extra incentive, I would act now. That date is only a week from Tuesday, so keep it in mind if you are a prospective buyer. No decision nor announcement yet as to new incentives.

Thanks to Geef and Jaime for their great help in organizing this Meet. We always have a great time up at the Doorway to Dreams, and they go above and beyond to make sure the DIS feels welcomed and enjoys sharing with their fellow DVC members. :)

Thanks for the detailed post. It sounds like you had a great time.
