Exploring an idea:

I've seen TV commercials for meal-delivery services, but I've never used them. For our upcoming trip, I'm thinking about having a couple meals delivered to our rental house. I figure that if we're drinking our own drinks at the house, it'd kinda equal out -- except that we'd have the convenience of being "home". Seems like it'd be convenient to place an order when we leave the parks /know that dinner is rolling our way.

A couple questions -- for the record, we're a group of six adults staying in a house off-site:

- Does anyone have personal experience doing this in Orlando?
- I see that some places charge nothing for delivery (they take a percentage from the restaurant?), while others charge 1.99 or 2.99 - is this per delivery or per meal? The cost of delivery seems confusing.
- Is it appropriate to tip the delivery person? I'm assuming the 1.99 or 2.99 goes to the app-owner, not the front-line people. A better question might've been, How much is it appropriate to tip the delivery person?
- Can we have breakfast delivered EARLY in the morning? We're all big breakfast eaters, and having something nice delivered would certainly make the morning run smoothly.

1. I have not done it in Orlando, but I have used Waitr on vacation and Door Dash at home.
2. Per delivery
3. Yes you should tip the driver.
4. If there is a restaurant open early and drivers available then you should be able to get it.

Thanks for the info.
What I'm hearing is that the drivers make very little money, so breakfast -- the thing I was most considering -- is probably out. I personally wouldn't get up early-early to deliver a breakfast for essentially the hope of a tip.

On most food delivery apps, there a section at the checkout of what percentage you want to tip the driver.

For breakfast you can have panera delivered. Its just food delivery. Some drivers are reliable, some are not. Its just like ordering a pizza.....

I probably wouldn’t try breakfast as sometimes the delivery takes longer than expected. I wouldn’t want to be waiting around on breakfast when we were ready to start our day. I think it’s a great idea for end of the day. To be able to shower and get comfortable while food was on its way would be awesome.

you might look into trial deals. My first few deliveries on Favor were free. Please do tip generously.

Choosing restaurants near your house will normally speed delivery up. I recently used Uber Eats to have lunch delivered to the wedding venue for DD and her bridal party. I chose a nearby LaMadeline and the food was there within 30 minutes.

We are drivers for door dash and postmates
Deliveries pay anywhere from $3-6 plus the tip. We are also customers... i always pick places close just so the food is warmer.... we love ordering Dennys late night after the kids are asleep, its really a guilty pleasure.
You can also use instacart , we order chicken tenders or rotisserie chicken meals from the grocery store.
Door dash Breakfast takes about 45min, shows you where the driver is on the app we have never had an issue, i meet them in the lobby

This makes perfect sense.

Thanks to all for your advice!
