Dooney & Bourke Material ???

Can someone tell me what the difference is between the canvas material and the nylon material on a Dooney & Bourke? I have only purchased the coated cotton purses because no dye from your clothes (like blue jeans) will come off on the purse. I returned one that was not coated cotton and cannot remember if it was canvas or nylon now. Need help ASAP as I am looking at purchasing one on the internet. Thanks!
