Every year I swear I'll never go back, but then I forget and for some reason I think it will be better, but I am officially done with any park except WDW and DL (never done Universal). My wife and I took our 2 oldest daughters to Six Flags over GA a couple of days ago and I can't tell you how many times I said, "This reminds me of why I love Disney so much". What a horrible place! Dirty, old, in need of paint, no theming, little customer service, (forgive me for this one) low-class trashy looking park guests, guys with their shirts off, girls with not much more on than the guys . . . just GROSS! I actually confronted a group of teenagers who thought it was cute to walk through the park yelling "bull#*&!" at the top of their lungs. Simply told them that I was there with my family and they needed to chill out. Why didn't a park employee handle this? Because they don't care! Either that or the obscenities were drowned out by the sound of those stupid basketballs that they give as prizes bouncing all over the park.

Never again!

Hmmm...topless women, you say? I just might have to check out this "Six Flags" park that you speak of! ;)

My DS and DD are going to Great America-Six Flags near Chicago tomorrow with their Sunday School class. As WDW vets, I'll be interested in how they compare. We haven't gone as a family for several years and at that time, it was pretty clean. The dress code allowed was something else though....no doubt about it: WDW is the standard by whom all others are judged. no one comes close. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

One of the many reasons I prefer WDW is due to the other parks(King's Island and Kentucky Kingdom being soooo dirty and trashed out. It did not use to be this way but times they are a changing as they say. The flower beds are horrible and the trash is allowed to pile up next to garbage cans. Another big difference I have seen it the attitude these two parks employee have verus Disney CM's. They look at their job as just summer employment and could care less. We go to Kings Island only once a year(my wife's employer has their company picnic there and admissions is free). If not for that never again. Kentucky Kingdom is even worse...smjj

We have season's passes at Great America and honestly, they are a bit better this yr than they have been in the past. You still have smoking anywhere and everywhere which can be annoying in line and I did have to position myself between my 11 yr old son and a teenaged girl who was of the opinion that everyone needed to know her blue thong was Victoria's Secret. Other than those kinds of things, the park is cleaner than last year and the employees seem better. Hurrican Harbor, the new water park, it distinctly Disney like in it's food court area (looks just like a CS area in MGM). It is well staffed with lifeguards and it is a very nice place. If you need a locker in the waterpark though they are $8 for a large and $10 for a family size. For us with the passes, it's cheaper than going to a pool and paying admission for 3 people, but the first time I went there I was shocked at the price. Anyway, have a great time, they do have great rides. It's not Disney, but they are making an effort to have more characters around (with fresh new costumes) and I even heard they have started a character breakfast. Have a blast!

A few years ago my family bought a season pass for Six Flags and we took advantage of it that whole summer. We were there many of the weekends and then we also traveled to Denver, Co and Washington Dc and went to the the Six flags at both of those places. I would have to say that out of the 3 of them, Chicago is by far the better of the 3 we visited. I think it is bigger and offers more for you to do. Now that they have a waterpark attached makes it all that more appealing.

Enjoy your trip, and I hope you have some fun.

Now with all that said...No it does not compare to Disney. But for the money and closeness it serves its purpose :earboy2:

Ya know I havent been to WDW yet.(Aug 1st!!!!! :cool1: ) But I will not do the Six Flags parks at all!!!! Nothing but rollercoasters that my family cant ride and way over priced!! And yes the Dress of some people OMG!!!! The last time I was at a Six Flags was over 15 years ago! For those regulars at
Great america/Six flags in Gurnee, the last time I was there....it was still Marriotts and I was an Edge ride freak. Anyway, The only park that I think
would come close to being as fun as WDW is Hoilday World and SplashinSafari in Santa Claus, Indiana. That park is truely family oriented! Everyone is so freindly and the park is so clean!!! They even have a dress code for the park.
And one of the biggest surprises yet? Free Soft drinks and Sun Screen!!! Matter of fact Six Flags has been copycating water rides from Splashin safari also!! LOL They have a wonderful campground right next to the park for those that love camping, and will shuttle you to the park from the campground. If you cant quite afford WDW this is a park to look into.

Well, if anyone saw a near-topless woman and little girl at Six Flags in Kentucky, that was me and dd. No, we aren't low-class or trashy. Someone stole hubby's backpack at the waterpark, and our shirts were inside!!!!!! We had to spend the rest of the day (we left pretty early) in shorts and swimsuit tops. We weren't too happy, especially since we had a locker, it was just too small for our stuff. At least they didn't get our wallets and cell phones.

We do have a nice little park here in Indiana.Hoilday World&Spashin Safari. No it does not compare to WDW.It is a nice clean park with a dress code and guests who cuss, line jump, etc. are escorted from park.Plus all soft drinks are free and they give you free sun screen. They have great employees who are friendly and helpful. It is located in Santa Claus Indiana which is in southern part of state. If you are ever in the area stop by,I think you will enjoy your experience. :goodvibes :earsboy: :wizard:

We just went to Six Flags New Jersey on Thursday. My DD won a contest to see Jesse Mccartney perform there. The concert was great but I am not a fan of six flags. The place is mostly teens half naked. Not really a family place the way Disney is. The service by the employees is sub par at best.
And here's the kicker..it took 1 1/2 hour to get out of the parking lot to the main road at closing! 2 guys even got into a fight in the lot because of how disorganized the place is. Even Jesse Mccartney's tour bus was stuck in there! :rotfl:

IMHO, I do not care for the place, only went because we got free tickets, & will NEVER return.

But quite honestly you cannot compare any "theme park" to Disney anyway.

We just went to Six Flags Magic Mountain in Santa Clarita, CA and I used to be a season pass holder at Six Flags Astroworld in Houston. From what I remember, Astroworld was overrun with teenagers (which I was at the time...LOL) and dirty. Magic Mountain is the same way. It's been a few years since I've been, but we won't be taking the kids there anytime soon. My H and I made a quick trip down there (nothing like doing a commando tour...8 hours of driving there, spending all next day at park, then immediately hopping in the car and driving 8 hours back...arrived home at 5:30!!!). We were thrilled with the roller coasters, but it's definitely not somewhere I would take the kids, although from their height, they qualify for most of the rides.

Disney is tops when it comes to theming and making the parks enjoyable for all members of the family. You don't see cigarette butts and trash laying all over, the bathrooms aren't growing experiments for a microbiology class, and you don't have rude teenages and employees running all over the place (sure, they're still there, but not in the droves that exist in other theme parks). I'm so excited to be taking the kids to WDW next spring, even though they don't have the thrill rides that my H and I enjoy so much. Just seeing the MK through my stepkids' eyes is plenty of excitement for me. When we took them to DL for the first time, I had to hold back plenty of tears during Wishes....the look on their faces was priceless.

I will still visit places like Six Flags...with my hubbie. We LOVE the BIG roller coasters (Goliath ROCKS!!!!) but until the kids are well into their teen years or young adults, we won't be taking them there.

TOTALLY AGREE! We went to SIx Flags in Jersey and OMG!! It is everything Disney is NOT! Dirty, old and trashy! Rides were not my speed and the guests were less than dressed! NOPE! Won't be back! I will stick to Disney, thank you very much!

I live about 20 min from the 6 flags in NJ and we do not go there ever. It is a loud, rowdy crowd. My husband is a state trooper and is often called in to back up the local police on crowd control situations and fights. Definitely not a family place. We got season passes to Sesame Place which is 15 min in the opposite direction and perfect for our young family.

The only park I've ever visited that is REMOTELY comparable to WDW is Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. That's it...we've done Six Flags over Dallas a couple of times and NEVER AGAIN! Disney just ruins you for life, you'll never be able to enjoy another park again, I'm afraid! :sad2:

I feel the same way going to Paramount Carowinds, and for the same reasons. However, Busch Gardnes Williamsburg is GREAT! Just as clean as Disney, nice employees, great rides, beautiful park. Check it out if you're ever in Virginia! :cool1:

The last time I went to Six Flags over Georgia, apparently there was a new rule that you either had to forfiet your shirt or your bra at the entrance if you were female. ;) Since I was oblivious to the new rule, I was exempt, but apparently 90% of the women in the park knew of the rule and complied. :earseek: It was quite an experience, and now that I know the rule, of course I can never return.... :rolleyes1

I took my 13 yo DD and one of her friends to Six Flags Over Georgia a couple of weeks ago. I told them to pose with Bugs Bunny for a picture. Bugs leaned over burped in her ear and said, "I know you know I'm not real." Definitely not Disney.

We went to Six Flags a couple weeks ago. We had free tickets, otherwise we would have paid $45 for an adult ticket. I thought it was outrageously priced!!! I bought a funnel cake for $6.50. Nothing on it but powdered sugar. We did a character meal for lunch which consisted of hot dogs, brisket, chicken strips, potato chips, potato salad, and pudding and cake. I can't remember how much we paid, but it was too much. I suppose there was plenty of TIME for interaction with the characters. However, the characters weren't the best at "playing". The park is huge, so they have a lot to offer. The guests there I put in the category of "punks". A lot of teenagers hangining around, which I've not seen at Disney except for Night of Joy.

The theming was halfway decent in places, but I still wouldn't compare it to Disney. Just not possible.

But, my biggest problem with the whole place was the lack of family activities. At Disney World most of the rides are rides that you can do as a family. At Six Flags they are either adult rides or kiddie rides. I think there were 5 rides at Six Flags that we went on together as a family. The rest were not suitable for one or the other.

You guys should all write to Six Flags head office, and complain about their dress codes... I mean if anyone can put a stop to that I am sure they could. I have never been to a Six Flags (I live in Canada), we do have a Parmount Park here, and it is not all that bad, but we also get a lot of the teens dressing like tramps.

I have season passes to Six Flags 0ver Texas....I agree that it def. does not even compare to Disney; but it`s great for us thrill-seekers :cool1:
