Don't They Think Kids Eat Hamburgers??

Why are the kids' menus so limited in choices? My two kids would take one day of chicken nuggets then that's it, they'll want something different the other days. I would love to do the DxDP but since we would be doing CS lunches every day, if I couldn't use the kids' credits on their meals and have to pay OOP so they can have a burger or pizza somewhere, I'm losing too much money. The poor choices actually make it harder than easier being on the DDP where CS is concerned because I have to pay for adult size portions so they can eat simple things that should be on their menu but aren't.

Yes, I wanted to say something about this too! Everything is either pizza, chicken nuggets, pasta or those prepackage pb&j sandwiches!! Seems kind of a rip off. I can BRING those pb&j sandwiches - I would have thought Disney would go a little above for kids, but I guess not!! Where's a grilled cheese sandwich or hot dog when you want one??

And my son LOVES his cheeseburgers.....

I was very disappointed at the lack of variety/imagination in the kids menus... luckily we did eat at a lot of buffets so DD5 was able to get some different foods there.

I think it's very hard for Disney to make everyone happy with the kids menus. I read a lot of complaints that the kids menus aren't kid friendly and the food offered is too adult. I also read about as many complaints that the kids menus are geared too much for kids and their child who likes adult foods can't find a thing to eat while they're there.

Ugh. I was looking at CS places at epcot, and I hated so many PB&J!!!! First, although my dd is not on the ddp due to being 2, she doesnt eat jelly on her PB&J. Second, thats what we ate when we were kids at disney so my parents could save money! Now they want to offer it as a kids meal? puhlease!!! The only place I could find with decent cs lunch at epcot was Tangeriene or however its spelled!lol Good kid options, and interestign adult options. I would liek to try it, especially since my dad was born in Morrocco. But I am nto sure how convenient it will be for our epcot day. I love Epcot, so I might force the issue.

I havent checke dout the CS options in MK really. There was a place or two in DHS that seemed ok, and also in AK, but otherwise, the TS are soooo much better!

My Dd was so excited when she turned ten! As a 9 year old with a big appetite, the childrens menu choices just were not enough. With the dining plan, they force kids to chose from the kids menu and it is only like 10 bucks a day. If it is not right for you, then pay OOP and don't get the plan. You need to measure if it is worth it for your family or not.

When my Dd was nine, it wasn't worth it for us, now that she is ten, it is.

The fact that the kids' dining plan is only 10 bucks a day might have something to do with the lack of choices.

I could swear I saw burgers on the kids menu in a CS place recently, though it is possible I just ordered an adult meal for the kids---I'm not on DDP, so I didn't pay much attention.

I've been worrying about this! We have the DDP for our trip in April, and 9 year old just developed a hollow leg! The only problem is, even if he could, I don't think he would like alot of the adult choices at the TS restaurants.

We have 6 TS options. I tried to pick some buffets so that he can get as much as he wants, and some variety as well (i.e., Tusker House, LTT and Akershus). I'm thinking of changing our ADR at Kona because the kid's menu is similar to 50's PTC (and we've been to Kona before). Other than that, I picked Raglan Road, because their kid's menu really had a nice variety.

If he's still hungry, I guess we will be using alot of our snack options on him.:thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure the updated menu for Peco's Bills has burgers for kids. Can't wait until all of mine are over 9 so no one has to eat off of the crappy kid's menus anymore!

1) Gotta watch out for the WDW Food Police.
2) When they decide what is good for you, it is tough to get around them.

Wow !

That was very nice of you, Tricia ! :thumbsup2

I agree.

Kids can only take so much of chicken and pizza.

Hmm, most of the kids I know stop eating pizza either when they get full or some grown up tells them no, try something else. Many would eat pizza almost daily. Once we told my nephew that pizza was an option on any menu he stopped us right there and always did a good job eating the portion.

I winced when I saw those Uncrustables, but my 5yo nephew practically did cart wheels when he saw them and begged to get one; as if I'd planned to stop him. He ate the whole thing 2 or 3 times during the trip. They look just gross to me, but Disney kind of has the kid thing in the bag.

I wish they had spaghetti vs many of the pasta or mac & cheese offerings.

Keep in mind that many families are on the DP and at $10 per day the kids can eat pretty well.
