Earl of Sandwich
Disclaimer: I'd like to apologise in advance for the world's worst photos - I just couldn't get a good photo and if I used the flash it lit up the place (we were sat outside) - They do get better. Honestly.
We'd just arrived at POFQ, unpacked, and caught a bus down to DTD. The weather was horrible, rainy and dreary - quite a difference from when we arrived in sunny Florida last year. I'd decided not to book an ADR on this night, as I knew we'd be tired after travelling, wouldn't be too bothered about a sit down meal, and our TS credit could be better saved for another night. This, and the fact that I'd been drooling over the Earl of Sandwich menu for ages.
Earl of Sandwich had quite a long queue when we went in, but it went down fairly fast. There were no inside tables left, but plenty outside - so since it had stopped raining and it was still a warm night, we decided to sit out. This was my first time in EoS so I wasn't quite sure how it worked. If I remember correctly (and I might not!) You order your sandwich at the first till, you move along the counter collecting any drinks/snacks/desserts you might want along the way, then at the other till you pay for all your stuff including the sandwiches. Then, to the right, you wait for your number to be called out for your sandwiches. I was totally unsure of what to do!
I knew what I was going to have - I'd studied the menu! It was the Florentine - Grilled Chicken, Creamed Spinach, Mushrooms and Parmesan Cheese. I have a newfound love for spinach. I got to the till, and I couldn't see it anywhere on the menu! It was gone! Argh! I had suddenly become one of those people who stand at the till when it's their turn umming and ahhing over the menu!
I quickly found the other sandwich that I had wanted - thank goodness! The Caprese - Fresh Mozzarella, Roma Tomato, Fresh Basil & Drizzled Balsamic Vinaigrette
Bad photo!
Oh my goodness! This sandwich was amazing! I was kinda glad in a way that the Florentine wasn't there! This is my favourite appetizer in an Italian restaurant and it was soooo good in sandwich form! It was just warm and it was perfect - the bready was lovely and fresh and the filling was so so good! Really happy with my choice and I am wishing I had one of those right now!
DF went with the Hawaiian BBQ - Grilled Chicken, Roasted Ham, Hawaiian BBQ Sauce, Aged Swiss Cheese & Fresh Pineapple
DF liked this sandwich - he likes BBQ and pineapple on stuff. I asked him what he thought and he said 'NOM' - I guess that means he likes it!
teeth: those of you who like lolcats will get nom!)
We also got 2 brownies (?) with our food - we took these back to the hotel with us and I'm not sure we ate them to be honest:
They looked nice though!
H RATING: 10/10
E RATING: 7/10
WOULD WE EAT HERE AGAIN? Oh my gosh yes! I absolutely loved my sandwich, I want one now! It's going to be our first meal when we go back in 2010
