Don't rely on certain Facebook (Disney) groups to be on the up and up

I just got booted from a Facebook Disney group for a post I tried to post (never made it past the Admins).... basically, I was calling them out for shutting down everyones posts on tickets and finding them cheaply. Everytime someone would post a question about where people were finding deals on tickets one of the moderators/admins would post something to the effect to contact one of the Smart Mom Travel agents for finding the best deal on tickets then they would actually turn off any further commenting!! Absurd! This group pretended to be a group of moms helping one another and it's really just a front for a travel agent.
Smart Moms December Planning Group - this is the group in case you are part of it. I wasn't surprised my post wasn't published but to be booted from the group! lol - oh well, just FYI!
For the record my post wasn't rude - but, no nevermind I don't want to be part of a controlled group like that anyhow.
Also - I did quite a bit of research and the best prices I could find for the tickets we wanted (6 day hoppers - march 2019) was on Undercover tourist with the Mousesavers discount code (found in newsletter link) - $1404.69 all in. Compared to $1600+ at WDW for new ticket pricing!
Also, BJs online just had a great sale on Disney gift cards - 8% off and Discover and Chase Freedom 4th qtr bonus is for warehouse shopping - 5% off. I think this is over now - but, keep checking!

Yeah, unfortunately there are a lot of such groups with possible ulterior motives.

I just wanted to make sure you know that the 3rd party vendors will only be selling those tickets until Oct. 29th. They are MYW tickets from before the new pricing structure change.

Enjoy your vacation!

Oh yeah, I know exactly the group you are speaking of. Actually, you were in just on of the off-shoot groups of the main group. The owner of the group wrote a book she sells from 60-100 bucks on how to save money. And she has accumulated a few travel agents who pay her part of their commissions to be allowed to solicit to her group. For a long time, whenever anyone asked a question about saving money, the person was immediately bombarded with links to the website to purchase the book. The group has a terrible reputation with other money-saving Disney groups. It's really bad.

Doesn't surprise me. There are a LOT of FB groups that work that way. I rarely use FB and certainly don't view it as a news organization or reputable place to get anything important. FB is mostly interested in how they make $$$ selling ad space, content isn't of much concern to them.

So true! I leave them all alone!

I used to be in that group lol until I realized they were only selling stuff to people... it wasn't about sharing real savings info.

Is this the same Smart Moms Plan Disney blogger who intentionally stiffed a Via Napoli server on the tip a few weeks ago because the pizza she ordered cost more than she expected? And even after an internet firestorm condemning her action, she still defended herself by saying that God used this in her life. I guess stiffing the waitstaff is one of her many valuable money-saving tips.

Yes, it is.

You always get charged per topping. In her defense, when she saw her $47 personal pizza she was probably really in shock.

That’s a pretty poor defense. Even more egregious is that she is sticking to her guns and claims that she would do the same thing if she had it to do over again. She’s supposed to be a “Disney budget expert” and she didn’t know to expect to pay for every topping? Just another reason not to buy her overpriced book.

@lanejudy ticket prices are going up as of Oct 29? Do you have any more information?

As PP replied, the post you quoted was from Oct. 2018 when the date-based ticket pricing started and was in reference to "old stock" (undated) tickets. I have no crystal ball to see what WDW plans to do at this point. However I would venture to guess there is unlikely to be any change in ticket prices until they are able to get more open, increase park hours and bring back hopping. But no clue on when any of that will occur.
