DON'T Read This TRIP REPORT If You're a Princess Hater!

Hey everyone!

Sorry to keep you all hanging. I looked forward to doing another update this weekend, but my computer had other ideas. I have it back, but some of the RAM memory was bad, so I'm waiting on the replacement to arrive so I can get up and moving again. I can check email and surf the web :surfweb: but manipulating 20+mb RAW photos is definitely out until my memory is back up and going. Don't ask how I know that........:rolleyes1

I'll just tell Jen when she gets back from her trip that we were all waiting for her.......... ;)

That was so nice of you to wait and update till I got home and had a few days to recooperate.

Really though, I am glad I'm not pages and pages behind!

Beautiful MK pictures of the mroning. Most of my Mk pics are in the dark. It was still fun. Hmmm. I can't guess who you are going to stalk. I think you met everyone already! :rolleyes1

I love your trip reports, there's so much detail! Can't wait to read your next one. :)

Thanks Jen! Glad you're back so we can get going again! :lmao:

We ended up having FOUR mornings in the Magic Kingdom. The first 2 were sunny, but so cold we didn't dawdle on Main Street for as many photos as I would have liked. THIS day was the real keeper of the bunch. It was a picture perfect morning. Still a little chilly, but nothing at all like the earlier days.

I love your trip reports, there's so much detail! Can't wait to read your next one. :)

Many thanks! I'm glad you're reading along. :goodvibes

Here's your official :welcome:

I scrapbook, so after most trips, I spend time the week after getting home journaling the trip so I can include it in my scrapbook. It's as close to reliving the trip as I can get. :goodvibes

Looks like your day at MK is off to a great start!!!! :surfweb:

Thanks! This turned out to be a great day. FINALLY a day we could enjoy without fighting the weather.

Ok, so we HAD seen Mary Poppins earlier in the week. But Katie was dressed as Tiana. You didn't REALLY think we were DONE with Mary, did you???? :lmao: When we saw her earlier in the week, she was in her other costume, and not by the carousel. I already shared our Mary Poppins flashback photos, so you know we've seen her a number of times. But I always wished she'd meet people by the carousel. Earlier in the week she was avoiding the cold wind and meeting back in corners near the buildings. Today she was finally out in her Jolly Holiday costume by the carousel! She was gone by the time we got off Dumbo, but they said she'd be back soon. Katie changed into her Mary costume and we waited just a short bit before she returned. We finally got the photos I wanted in front of the carousel!

Of course, once we were done visiting with Mary, Katie wanted to take a spin on the carousel. We overcame our disappointment that the horses did not come loose and take us on a tour of the park like they do in the movie, but it was still a pretty fun ride! :goodvibes

I knew it was Mary Poppins! I remembered you wanting to catch her. Once again, beautiful pictures!:worship: Some of my favorite shots from our 1st trip were from the train station balconey.

I have spent ALL day reading ALL 31 pages.... LOVE IT!!! :worship: You've inspired me to become more interested in photography, your pictures are so gorgeous!!! I've even used one of the fireworks as the desktop background on my computer, I hope that's okay! :lovestruc You have a beautiful daughter, she's extremely lucky to have a mom like you! :wizard: I only hope when I have children someday that I can keep the magic alive in them like you've done with her!

I SO Love the Jolly Holiday Pictures!!! It's so cool/special/awesome that you got the pics with Mary in front of the Carousel, spats and all.... but I have to say the sequence of photos with Katie on the horse are my absolute favorite of this set!!! They are SO totally perfect - I feel like she will soon be winnng the horse race! I would LOVE to scrap those pics!!!!

Very cool! And what lovely Marys they each were too :)

Thanks Carey! You'll notice of course how I JUST cropped out the flag pole. I'm half tempted to schedule a trip for the first week of December sometime for the PERFECT train station photos. They take the flag pole down to make room for the announcer's booth for the Christmas parade taping that first weekend of the month. Then the flag pole goes up, as does the Christmas tree.

Time for your official :welcome:

And I'm honored you are using one of my photos on your desktop!

Just a hint too...... if you want the best quality photo...... find it in my Flickr photostream (linked in my signature) then use the drop down option for "view all sizes" and you can save it in its largest file size.

Awwww..... thank you! I also enjoyed the photos riding the carousel. :goodvibes

I have done a few Mary Poppins layouts through the years, and do look forward to scrapping those.

I get a little sad wondering if that will be the last of the Mary Poppins costumes we do. Now that I have done the spats and the parrot head umbrella, I'm not sure I can stop! Maybe one more??????? :rotfl:

I do scrap each trip we do, but I'm also looking forward to one day doing a character scrapbook mixing the various versions of each character costume we've done. You know.... one day when I figure out how to add more hours into each day. Or perhaps as therapy when Katie goes away to college.......

I see a two year old DGD in your future dressed as a Jolly Holiday Mary - a VERY distant future of course.....wouldn't that be a hoot to have tea with SB, Rose Petal, Katie and her DD one day and pass that magic along?!?!

My parents always remark on how fun it is being the grandparent.

OK, enough aging your daughter, and US too quickly. Just something for the back of your mind - I think you have started quite a tradition here.

In the mean time I am with you about needing good therapy when they go to college... luckily?? when my DS6 and DD4 saw TS3 again recently they both declared they did not want to go to college! They were each freaked out about the idea of Andy leaving his mom to go to college (btw, where IS his dad? so not the disney way, so nice for a change - good job Pixar!). Sydney was SOBBING about not wanting to go away, DH and I tried not to laugh or make her promise to feel that way in 14 years :)

How could I forget about the Mary Poppins dress...or as my Dad kept saying....Mary PopKins. :lmao:
Katie looks gorgeous!

I lvoe Katie's Mary dress!!!! You did a great job!

I am also sad that Dumbo is moving but I am hoping the stuff in it's place will be great

Well, with or without your help, I'm aging fast enough already! Last week our oldest son committed on a college for fall. For those of you who live close by and know the schools, he's going to Rockhurst University here in KC. So he's not moving out, but it's still a pretty notable milestone. High School graduation is about 6 weeks away. And FWIW........ I absolutely REFUSED to see Toy Story 3 because I had heard about that part of the movie.

Katie and I actually talk a lot about how fun it will be to bring her kids to Disney. We have saved the vast majority of her costumes because she wants them for her kids. Of course, I'd love to do the same with the boys' kids one day........ but being teenagers currently...... it's not exactly the conversation they want to have! :lmao:

Oh the pictures with Mary Poppins are practically perfect in everyway!!!

High praise indeed! Thank you! :goodvibes

Thanks Jen! And that's adorable about your dad! Did you guys find her?

Thank you! :goodvibes

And I'm actually really excited about the new stuff going on in Fantasyland. I'm sure I'll really love it. But the new Dumbo? Ehhh.... maybe not. We'll give it a try, but probably won't feel the drive to do it like we did before.

12/16/10 Continued

We finished up on the Carousel around 9:30. Perfect timing! We intended to see the fairies, so we hustled over to the Toontown entrance. There were a few other groups in line, but not too bad. We were 3rd in line for the Fairies when we got there. It was fun to see them in Pixie Hollow one last time before Toontown closed. We had seen them in 08, but never got back there in 09.

The princess line was still short, so we went through there too before moving on. Take a close look at her skirt. She made a point of adjusting her skirt before seeing each princess, so their applique would be in front! :goodvibes

Katie next decided she was FINALLY ready to give the Barnstormer a try. She had never been on it before. It is honestly so short that if you blink, you might miss it. When we got to the end, Katie looked at me and just laughed. The length of that ride really is comical. But it was fun and not very busy yet, so we went back around for another ride.

12/16 Continued:

Next we took a few minutes to get some photos of Toontown, including Mickey & Minnie's ill-fated summer homes. It's hard to believe none of this will be there when we return. At least the Barnstormer will be there under a new name...... now that Katie finally enjoyed it!

After saying good-bye, we hoofed it across the park to Frontierland........Our 3rd day in the Magic Kingdom, and we were FINALLY going to visit the OTHER side of the park!

I love that she adjusted her skirt to show each applique with each princess! You can tell she really appreciates all of your hard work!

12/16/10 Continued:

Yep. This was our 3rd day in the Magic Kingdom and we hadn't set foot in Frontierland yet. Honestly though...... there wasn't a CHANCE on Earth we were going to do Splash Mountain in that cold weather. And whipping around Big Thunder Mountain in the bitter cold didn't appeal to us either. That's the beauty of a girly trip. Don't want to go to Frontierland? Don't go! But we weren't about to skip it completely, so we trekked across the park to get Thunder Mountain fastpasses. I suppose we could have taken the train to get there, but I wanted a chance to SEE the parts of the park we had missed so far.

Along the way we encountered a character I really wanted to see........ Frontier Donald! Of course we've met Donald many times, but not FRONTIER Donald! :thumbsup2 He was quite charming, and enjoyed checking out Katie's skirt set. He even decided to share a little dance with her. You suppose someone told him Mickey had danced with her earlier in the week? :rotfl:

Here he's checking out her skirt:

We were running out of time and still wanted to use our Space Mountain fastpasses......so time to race across the park again. I have to say that Space Mountain is one of my favorite all-time Disney rides. I had to skip it on our previous mother/daughter trips. Katie didn't want to ride, and wasn't old enough to wait by herself while I rode alone. She finally rode it for the first time last summer at Disneyland. I will say that I prefer the DL version, but this one is fun too. I also wanted to see what I could do with my camera in such a dark, fast ride:

It was around 12:45 as we exited Space Mountain so it was time to head for the exit...... we didn't want to be late........ for a very important date!

Congrats to your son!! And ANOTHER beautiful dress!

Thanks Steph!

You liking this taste of summer this weekend? Since the a/c is broken in our car, I can most assuredly say I'm HATING it! It's currently 87 degrees......

I love that she adjusted her skirt to show each applique with each princess! You can tell she really appreciates all of your hard work!

I wish I could take credit for the skirt set. But I don't do applique work. My friend Gretchen (scraps-of-heaven) did the skirt, and Shannon (revrob) did the applique for the top. All I did was put the top together and put the ruffle on the skirt.

But Katie did indeed enjoy it!
