DON'T Read This TRIP REPORT If You're a Princess Hater!

having never been to any of the parties, I will look forward to when things start to surface regarding this year's MVMCP. Then... I will make sure to see what your thoughts are. Dh and Ds are going with us and I am sure that they won't be big on meeting characters. Dd and I would be though... maybe we can split up? :rolleyes1

And I have one older one staying behind... probably will just have started to drive.... I think it has me a bit stressed ... but if I can send him away to join the army, I better be ok with leaving him alone with a car he has purchased to drive himself around. He is over 18 after all...

I was really hoping things would start leaking about the party by now. One of the posters who usually has some early info says they are taking that to mean they aren't adding anything notable. I sure hope that's not the case.

Well, it will just be what it is and we'll make the most of it. I like your idea of dividing and conquering. If you have one in your group who doesn't like characters, they can REALLY get frustrated at some of the wait at the party. I know my husband doesn't care one WHIT about characters, so it will be really interesting to see how we handle that first party night. I know we're going back later, but that party later in the week is the final Friday and will sell out and be a mad house. So we definitely have to get some of our stuff done that first night. I do think he'll really like the parade though.

So you know what I mean about it seeming odd to leave one at home driving. Ours is 18 as well, but he's only had his license for 2 months. So at the time we made our plans, he didn't even have the license yet. Still, he's not experienced at all driving in snow, and it will be December, so you never know. I'm just glad he'll be done (or down to his last day) when we leave. And he's not the sort to go anywhere if he doesn't have to!

I love your trip report!

I just have to say that your photos and dresses are AMAZING!!! We saw you and Katie last year in line for Rapunzel and then again for Tiana/Naveen. The dresses I think are prettier in person.

And that week was definitely FREEZING! We had went in April/May 2010 and it was BOILING and extremely humid so we planned the December trip hoping it would be cooler. Boy was it cooler, it was downright cold! LOL

My sister and I totally want to dress our niece up in different dresses when we take her in 2014 for her first trip. I can't wait for her to meet all the princesses and Tigger. She is only 8 months old, but she LOVES her Tigger. She gets a huge smile and all giggly when we read her a book with Tigger in it and she is always playing with her stuffed Tigger. We already bought her her first princess doll - an Ariel doll. We're thinking a Tangled theme for her first birthday. We're going to do our best to make her love all the Disney Princesses.

I wish I had your mad sewing skills. That was one thing I could never master. I just don't have the patience.

I love that Snow White dress and Rapunzel one you posted. Gorgeous work! Have you ever done a Mulan costume?

Well, I'm glad you stopped by here to say hi! How funny that you were in line with us twice! Many thanks for the kind comments!

How fun that your niece is so young and you can expose her to all things princessy! princess: I say go for broke. You only get so long for that phase, so do it up right. Yeah! That she has and Auntie who wants to play along!

OK, I finished up Christmas Mary Poppins yesterday. I had this vision for the past year of doing one from this cool fabric I saw last year. It was an organze with poinsettia embroidered throughout. PERFECT for what I had in mind. Well, of course, nothing like that in stores this year. I didn't want to just make the same thing I've done before, so when I saw this fabric on ebay, I knew this would do the trick. No poinsettia on the fabric, but plenty of red for the season, and a few sequins to catch the light. I'll just add some poinsettia to the hat. :yay:

Stunning. Janet Disney might want to hire you for being a costume designer!

LOL! Thanks Mike! I don't think they'd want me though. I think we be at cross purposes. I'd want a new version of every gown for every holiday, and they seem to resist that sort of thing.

Janet, that is just beautiful! I cannot wait to see Katie in it.

Thanks Carey! I can't wait to see it on her either! LOL! I tried the bodice on a few times to get the fit right, but haven't had the completed thing on her. Nor will I likely get it on her before we go. This was the trickiest Mary I've done yet. The base pattern I use is available for kids and adults, and for the first time, Katie was right in between....... no man's land for patterns.

We're doing 1900 PF for breakfast one day, so it will be fun to see her in it at the GF!

Actually, it was just an excuse for us to get to use the parrot umbrella one last time! They sell the black parrot head one, but not white, so we got creative and cut the handle off, painted it white, and paired it with a lace parasol. Katie loves it, so she's more than happy to have a new MP to use it with.

WOW!!!!!!!! Those dresses are amazing. Claire is sitting her with me drooling. She also says it's not fair that Katie gets them. :lmao: I now have to go back through the thread because Claire wants to see more.

The Rapunzel and Mary Poppin's dresses are so beautiful Janet! I am in awe!

I can't wait for the MVMCP's to start so we can hear reports!

I'm really enjoying your trip report. I think we are taking my daughter to the princess tea next Spring, so it's very nice to see the whole process.

I am in awe of your sewing! I love to sew, but I'm obsessed with making the kid's costumes as close as possible to what they look like in the movies. You have provided so much inspiration to break out of that mold! I love how you add extra embellishments and use alternate fabrics for the dresses... it comes out so beautiful. I just LOVE all your creations!! You have a new fan! :goodvibes

beautiful dress!

Many thanks! I can't wait for her to wear it! Gotta get out and get some poinsettia for the hat.

Thanks Jen! Now that I have all the Halloween sewing out, I might go back and update my woefully out of date installment links.

Amazing new dresses!!! The poinsettia fabric would have been so cool but this is gorgeous.

I was looking at character lists and reports today so I can update y plans for this year and thought of you when I saw this:

I would live to meet Gaston so I hope this is positive news.

Well, as you might imagine, I was GREEN with envy when I saw Gaston would be at MNSSHP. Especially since we initially planned this trip for October. I remained optimistic that maybe he'd be out for MVMCP too. I thought they might do that to build interest in the BATB area of the expansion. But not a single word yet of anything new. I'm not holding out a lot of hope.

Gaston was at MNSSHP. He and Jafar, Lady Tremaine w/ the Step Sisters, and Lotso were around the left side Castle hub.

I couldn't believe the Tremaines weren't even out at last year's MVMCP. They hosted the Fantasyland dance party when we were there in 08. That's the year we were last there with Katie's friend and they had a BALL with them.

I also heard Suzy and Perla were at MNSSHP. I'd LOVE to meet them again. We used to love the dinner at the castle when they were there. We also met them at the Pirate & Princess party:

Hello there and :welcome:

I actually toiled a lot with trying to get all the costumes as close as possible to the original. I always fought with myself on whether to go for the movie version or the park version, which as you know can be quite different. I'm really only stepping out of that recently since I don't want to do the same thing over again. I also enjoy looking at doll versions of the characters for inspiration.

Happy sewing. I'm glad you found us! :yay:

I lost track of your TR for a while but I found it again and got caught up and finished it this weekend. I just love all your pics, those Wishes pics are some of the best fireworks pics I have seen. Katie's dresses are so pretty too.

The newest ones are really beautiful, that Snow White one, I think, is better than the one on the Doll in the pic you showed and of course I just love the Rapunzel dress (Purple is my fave). That movie was so cute.:)

Your plans for your next trip sound awesome. I wish I could go at Christmas again some time. I had been a couple times at that time of year and it is great, this was before the days of MVMCP.

Hi!

I'm so glad you wandered back over to catch up!

Many thanks for the kind words. Christmas is an awesome time to be at Disney. I hope you get to go back again. The single greatest improvement since it sounds like you were there........... the Castle Dream Lights. They are absolutely breathtaking. :cloud9: I saw a photo of them in 07 and knew I'd hitchike there in 08 if I had to.

Well, the first tidbit about this year's party has leaked out. It appears that Phineas and Ferb will be there. OK, so I know there are a lot of P/F fans out there........ but it just does nothing for me. Not to mention the fact that if I really wanted to see them, I could do so during the day at DHS. I want characters at the parties I can't see on a regular park day.

I know I know......... I'm like the only Disney fan that feels this way. Maybe they'll at least soak up a bunch of people in line.........

Ferb is at the top of my Ferb-obsessed DD's list but I'm still with you. We'll see them at DS only unless there's something extra special about their appearance. Or if Perry is with them.

Well, it won't be long before you see. A week from tonight is the first party and I'm sure someone will post photos. Somebody on that thread mentioned that they have a holiday special coming out, so maybe they'll be in holiday attire. Won't matter to me. I've never seen the show! :scared1:

LOL! I do hold a grudge you know!

mom2rtk Your dresses are amazing, you can tell they are made with such love! Loved your trip report!!
