DON'T Read This TRIP REPORT If You're a Princess Hater!

Oh no! I hate that it is over! I have so enjoyed reading along and seeing all your beautiful photos and costumes! I'm really going to miss this TR. I will absolutely be on the lookout for another one in December.

As for your top 5 list... I couldn't even begin to guess! You had so many awesome moments and wonderful character meets that I don't know how you could possibly narrow it down to 5. I'll be curious to see what they are!

I've been doing a little sewing for our October trip and just wanted to credit you with motivating me! I'm not doing anything like what you have done, but I am making some simple applique shirt/skirt outfits, and I am altering a Jasmine costumes from a past dance recital. I am not making the applique stuff from scratch either. I am taking a store bought shirt and skirt and adding some touches to it. That's all the sewing talent I have for now! But it's still fun!

Thank you Janet!

It has been an awesome journey sharing you and Katie's trip! I have truly enjoyed getting a piece of Disney as I wait for our spring break trip. The beautiful creative outfits, stories and photos delight! Thanks a ton!

-Wowza! That Christmas tree is GORGEOUS!!!!

Don't they do a great job with ALL their trees at Disney?

-I've never seen Alice with a coat! Neat!

I love seeing the characters in their winter wear too. Sad life that I lead, I was excited to meet Cindy in her winter jacket too!

-I am, as always, in love with Katie's costume! Can you adopt me??

I have to tell you, after getting 3 kids ready for school, I'm gonna have to pass. But I appreciate the sentment!

-Great shot of the teacups! I will conquer that shot on my next trip!

Thanks! The teacups are a great photo op for playing with shutter speed. Take a look at that shot again. There's a small break between 2 of the teacups....... and you can just make out Alice and the white rabbit signing autographs. I wish I could say I did that on purpose......... We'll call that a happy accident!

-Loving the teacup shots with Katie! I cannot go on that ride....ever again! I went when I was 5 and they had to stop the ride because I got sick I love all of the colors of the teacups and the theming though!

There really just are some people who can't do spinny rides. Thankfully I'm not one of them. You would NOT want to ride with me! I can spin AND take photos at the same time!

-Love the dress in the castle couture window! So pretty!

I can't belive we missed it up until our last day!

-Love Katie's Haunted Mansion outfit! I actually am getting ready to place an order for those mickey ears at the Disney Store!

Those are fun ears. I'm sure you'll love them!

-How sweet that you both got certificates! I want one

It was just so unexpected that it was really fun!

-Wow! Katie's Ariel dress is stunning! Ariel is my favorite princess!

Thank you! She was certainly a lot of fun.

-I LOVE It's A Small World! When me and my brother went for our first trip together he was 6 months old. I asked my mom if I could take him on one ride and she said yes. I was such a proud sister! I carried him onto the ride and sat him on my lap and he fell in love with the ride! My grandparents had to take him on the ride continuously for the next three hours because as soon as they went to get off he started crying Now, he's going to be 14....and I love spending time with him on IASW!

What a great Small World memory you have. And I think it's great you still like to spend time with him.

-Sadly, i've only been on dumbo twice.....and they were both when I was 5 and 6 Next trip I'm going to have to ride it again!

Shame on you! I hope it's still in its current location for you to ride one last time before the move!

-It's always so sad to end a trip But, you had another trip 6 months after, so I bet it wasn't as bad! I'm now headed over to read that tr! Thanks for all of the wonderful pictures!!!!

Actually that other trip report was from June 2010, so happened 6 months before this one. But December isn't far away and we'll be back. And you guys all made this so fun, I bet I'll do another trip report!

-They really do!
-Not at all! I love seeing the characters in all of their not-normal costumes!
-My mom is right there with you! She only has two kids, but i'm headed off to college in two weeks and my brother is starting 8th grade.
-I love playing with shutter speed! I really need a new lens for my camera, because I only have the standard and it's just not good enough :( I'm trying to figure out which one to buy! I have an Olympus E4000--do you have any tips?
-Oh Lordy! I would NOT have a good time on that ride!
-I try to spend time with him.....but he just play's xbox 360 all the time!
-I know....I'm a bad DISSER! Me 2! Hopefully I'll get back down there before they close it or move it!
-Yay for more trip reports!!!

I love it.. Sounds like something I would do to the small dog who loves me for the things I make him wear :rotfl:

Well, then you definitely need a snowman Mickey. The hat would be jut the right size! :lmao:

YEAH to you for starting some sewing! There's nothing better for the soul than losing one's self in a creative project! :thumbsup2 I'd love to see what you come up with!

As for the top 5...... I checked the scarpbook and it was actually a top 6 list. Here's a start..........

Katie's number 6? (Drum roll please.......) PLANE CRACKERS!!!

My number 6? (Another drum roll please.....) Katie wearing red Belle to MVMCP!

Thank you Janet!

Good luck in college! We had orientation this weekend at my son's college. Classes start day after tomorrow.

I am not familiar with the various Olympus lenses. But I'm sure there are some folks over on the Photography Board who are. So my advice would be to pop in over there and pick their brains. They LOVE to spend other people's money! :lmao:

NOOOOO! Say it isn't so! You MUST dop a TR for this next trip. I love ther Queen of Hearts dress. I have looked at one for Claire from a costume shop and I keep debating on getting it. I guess I'll wait til lwe actually have a trip planned.

YEAH! I just caught you! I think you'll love that camera. I think that's the same one Jen just bought so I'd love a full report from both of you!

I can't wait to see all your photos.

Have a magical time! (And watch for Jen! She leaves tomorrow!)

Yes, that is the one I got. I like it. But I have a hard time with point and shoots. I am so used to putting my eye up to the camera to see what I want, and the whole zooming kept confusing me with the point and shoot. I used it for the safari and got a bunch of crappy pictures. LOL! But my battery was pretty much dead on the SLR, well actually both batteries I had with me were and the charged one was back at the room...of course.

-Thank you! Orientation is sometime next week for me, but i'm a transfer, so i'm not sure!
-I move into my dorm room this Sunday and then classes don't start till the 31st
-I will definitely do that! Lol :)

OK, I gave our 6th favorite parts of the trip yesterday..... or the day before........ it's all running together these days! :lmao:

Now time for number 5. Drum roll please........

Katie's pick for 5th place............. We have a tie for Space Mountain and Expedition Everest.

Now keep in mind we each did our lists independently....... but here's what I came up with for number 5......... Riding thrill rides with Katie!

Life is zooming along here. I am happy (ok, mostly relieved....) to report that Robbie is finally a fully licensed driver!:banana::banana: And not a moment too soon since classes start tomorrow. Whew! We're driving him to campus to help with parking, but will let him drive himself home. It's quiet a trek, not like driving down the road to the local community college. It's through parts of the city I'd rather he not go. But it's better than putting him on the interstate. We've been making the drive daily for practice for a while now, so I'm sure he'll be just fine. Now ME on the other hand....... not sure how I'll be with it!

I started my PTR if you want to read along here is the link = )

Nah...... I say don't wait until you have a trip planned. You started the last one before you had a trip planned, so I say go for it!

Thanks for the nice comment on the QOH. Katie loved that it was more grown up looking.

Any idea what the problem was with the P&S on the safari photos? I still want to get a new point & shoot and that Canon was one I had considered. And what's this nonsense about a dead battery? Tsk Tsk! Have I taught you NOTHING?????? OK, maybe I did. At least you didn't lose any memory cards!

Whew! I almost missed the end of your trip report.

You just have to do another report when you get back from your next trip. I love your photos and all the pictures of Katie in her outfits.

Katie must be a quick change artist now. I can't keep up with all the different changes she did just in your last half a day in the park!:confused3 But you really did get some great pictures of her with the characters. Love the photos with the Hunted Mansion CMs.

Please post you scrapbook pages from the trip. They are so beautiful. I'm sure everyone else would enjoy them too.

Congrats to Robbie for passing his test!:yay: Tell him to be careful and to be a defensive driver.

I think myu problem was human error...or some might say dumb blonde. LOL! I would zoom to get the animal and then I couldn't find it on the screen. LOL! And we were moving and it was all going to fast. When I look through the veiw finder on an SLR I can see what I want, then zoom, I couldn't get my brain wrapped around doing it with the point and shoot. Probably for most, that would be easier...but not for me. :rolleyes1

Janet~
Well I've spent some time (quite a lot actually) over the last 3 days reading your trip report. Amazing! I've actually never read one before but got hooked trying to find out how you got that great picture in your siggie and now I know!!! We live in socal and have DLR passes but will be going to WDW at the end of 2012 or perhaps jan of 2013 to celebrate my dd's 5th birthday. Reading your report has given me some ideas!!

As everyone has said, your costume skills are AMAZING!!! I don't sew but I so wish I could. My dd would love those princess dresses. Your photos are also amazing and your daughter is so cute. In her pix a sweetness comes across
:-)

I have a question for you about the queen of hearts costume. Did you also make the crown? I'm curious because my daughter is going to be the queen for halloween. I've ordered her a lovely costume but it does not come with a crown. I was going to make one but cannot figure out how it would be attached the headband...

Thanks Vanessa!

I'll probably do another trip report. It really did help with my post trip blues, and also got me to work through editing all my photos.

We won't be bringing as many costumes this time, but definitely a few. I need to get caught up on my work sewing so I can do a little more fun sewing. We've been chatting about her Cinderella costume. We want to do another winter version she can wear to dinner at CRT the night of the Christmas party. I bought some pretty sheer snowflake organza. I pictured it over white, but she says blue. Man, where did she get the idea she gets to a say in this? :lmao: OK, so picking the fabric is the best part of this and I hate giving that up. But ultimately I'll let her pick.......

When things get settled a little more around here, I'll post a few scrapbook pages. I didn't come close to scrapping the entire trip..... only one book filled so far! :rotfl:

And many thanks for congrats for Robbie. I've done my best to help both of the boys understand that they are driving for everyone ELSE in the world, but don't know that they truly get that yet. Thankfully Robbie's classes are form 11 to 3, so he'll miss rush hour traffic. I'll be driving down with him for a few days until we're comfortable with him doing it himself.

I see what you're saying. Yeah, I'd have trouble with no viewfinder too. And I'm not even blonde. USED to be brunetter, but this summer has me leaning more toward gray.........

Oh to have a 5 year old again! :goodvibes I keep wanting to freeze time here, but of course that's not happening...... Thanks for reading along and catching up with us! And many thanks for the kind words.

We have been to DLR and love it. In some ways, I prefer it to WDW, but the 2 are really hard to compare. The grand scale of WDW is hard to picture if you haven't been there. If you go in late 2012 or early 2013, hopefully you'll get to see the Beauty and the Beast and Ariel areas of the Fantasyland expansion.

On the Queen of Hearts........ I chose the crown we have because I though it was closest to the real thing. But it didn't come on the headband we used. To be honest, I don't recall at ALL how it came. But I do remember taking a bow off that gold headband we had already and stitching that other crown to it. I just stitched through the trim on the crown and the gold ribbon that covered the headband. It wasn't easy, but it's held up pretty well.

Awesome!!!!

Thank you! :goodvibes

OK, it's gonna be a busy day here with Robbie's classes starting, so before we're off and running, I'll add number 4 to Katie's and my top 6 lists......

Katie:

6. Plane Crackers
5. Riding Space Mountain and Everest

and now for number 4.........................

Playing the instruments at the cart in AK while I checked in for Tusker House! :lmao: It's the little things in life, right?????? :goodvibes

And here's mine:

6. Seeing Katie in her Red Belle at the Chrismtas party
5. Riding thrill rides with Katie

and now my number 4.................

Our very own personal Fairy Godmother!

This is fun because we did these lists right after we got home (for a scrapbook page) and I couldn't even remember what we picked!

Janet, you have inspired me to make a "top" favorite list. I'll have to do some thinking ()

YEAH! Be sure to interview the family. It's a lot of fun. I ususally torture my family with stuff like that after every trip. It makes for great scrapbook pages though!

Wow, your trip report is incredible! Your pictures are stunning and your daughter's outfits are the best. She looks so much like you! I really can't wait for more. princess:

Thanks Stephanie! I just clicked on the link to your TR and see you're 14. KUDOS to you for taking on a voluntary writing assignment in the form of a trip report! My boys are 16 and 18 and NO WAY would they do something like that. My oldest had his first college English class today and I just finished "the talk" about how writing is one of the most important skills he needs to learn up front, since he will use that skill for papers in all the rest of his classes. I further explained that in college, most of my finals were ALL essay writing..... one question........ fill a blue book....... or two..... Anyone know if they still do blue book exams????? It's been a while here!

Well, we all survived Robbie's first day of college! :dance3: We drove him down this morning. We have made that drive with him in the driver's seat more times now than I can count, but we just didn't know how the parking would be with classes in session. YIKES! We got what we thought was the only open spot in the parking lot. I know he's not ready for parallel parking on the residential streets yet, so that has been a big concern. Fortunately we scoped out one other lot nearby that the students hadn't found yet. So all looks optimistic on the parking front.

So Drew brought me home and we left Robbie with the car and he drove himself home. I'm not sure if I have any fingernails left, but we all came through the day safe and sound.

One day at a time, right????? I think by Monday he'll probably be driving himself down and back every day.

So definitely a RED LETTER day here!:banana::banana:

Yay! "You" made it through the 1st day. Did he like it then? I am so glad he got his license too, that wil ltake some pressure off of you.
