Don't make me go back to WDW! I LOVE DLR!!!

I've gone to WDW three times in the summer (once in June and twice in mid-August). The only thing that made the June trip bearable was a tropical storm that lasted for half the trip. It cooled it down (some) and in poured most of the time so instead of being sticky-wet we were just simply wet.

Any pictures you take early in the morning when you first go outside are foggy from the humidity. I find in the summer I have to carry a lot more around the parks because I have to carry a misting fan and a water bottle at all times. In the cooler months, I can get by without either one of those.

That said, I'm planning to go back next August and I'd go this August if I could, but I'm planning to go with a bunch of friends for a weekend in December instead.

I grew up in SoCal but now live in So. Florida. I laugh when I see people complain about the summer heat at DLR, having now spent a few years here in FL. I know it can get hot in Cali...but it is a DRY heat. So I figure I will be just fine at DLR this August.

This is a good point - BUT - with all of that humidity, you never actually dry off when you get out of the pool or the water rides! :rotfl2:

Oh yes indeed. My mom lived in Miami after I went to college, and our family sweats. We don't glow, we sweat. And when I visited, I sweat through the night, cleaned off in the shower, and as I was drying off and getting dressed I started sweating again. I was just never dry. Neither was my mom. And she went from straight hair all her life to the craziest curls ever. It looked like when she got the horrible 80s mom perm, but natural. Anyway, you just brought back memories.

I have also lived in SC and WV, so I have learned to adapt to humidity so I don't pass out, but the constant sweating is hard to deal with for me.

The humidity is one of the reasons we are skipping free food in Sept and going to WDW in January this time. We have been the last two Sept. and it's isn't called the humid month for nothing. Had to laugh at the glasses fogging up when you walk out of the room. So true! Looking forward to experiencing DL in June this year for the first time.

I think we will just nominate you for the good parent award since you know it is going to be hot, humid, and crowded but you are willing to do it for your DD.

Bumpershoot...
ooo, Girl You better be careful what you say....
You just got rid of that awful toe hair 'tag'..... I would hate for you to exchange it for a 'we sweat' one....

You're the Best!

Awwwwww...Thank you!
yes, she's our middle one and we'd do anything for her...she's just so sweet and gentle:love: She's wanted to do the WaterParks for her birthday for so long and she's a summer birthday...We always chosen the less humid/less crowded months to go but those aren't always the best months to do the WaterParks....So this year.....well, let's just say....'PRAY for us!';)

Oh NO.....
You must keep talking! You are far too informative and so many of us need that! Thanks for helping so many of us out...and I personally love your little 'side notes'..... And just the thought of the 'tag fairy' visiting you again, keeps me checking the boards daily.:thumbsup2

I was just hanging out on the WDW board, and here is a whole thread that indeed makes me sure that I don't want to go back to DisneyWorld! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1790356

Horrible crowds, Angry CMs, No sightings of the Dream Team...Poor WDW....

Is DisneyLand just a kinder more gentle park or do you think that I'm just overcome with the magic from our FIRST trip to DisneyLAND?:wizard:

I was thinking the same thing...It sounds like WDW isnt worth the price when you hear many complain.

Many have a good time though

Disneyland definitely has a special mystique to it, that so many WDW veterans just don't get. Too many times WDW regulars don't realize, or even know, that DL is the one that started it all, and there would be no WDW without DL. I personally love both properties, but for very different reasons.

Just like WDW, DL can have its' own days full of angry guests and clueless CM's - but somehow DL just seems to overcome those things. WDW is much more of a total "destination" given its' sheer size and magnitude of "stuff" to do. But DL feels more like going home after a long time away. It's always welcoming and feels comfy. I think it really has to do with the fact that even though it's been more than 40 years since he died, Walt was there and really made a lasting impression on the place. Everything since that has been built (other parks) - was done to mimic the style, but just doesn't seem to have the same charm. Maybe that's just me though...
