This is our first time staying at the Fort and we are kind of new to camping. My Dad isn't going and he is the camping expert but my Mom and I are learning.

Today I told my Dad that there is cable hook up and he asked me these two questions 1) do you have to bring your own cable and 2) how long does it need to be?

Can someone answer those two questions for me so I can tell my Dad?

Also, any other items we need to bring that new campers tend to forget?

Thanks so much for the help. Everyone on here has been wonderful. We maybe asking a Diser to help us back in. Mom's scared about that!!!!:)

Howdy ! Welcome to the camping boards !
I won't laugh at you,,,(maybe snicker under my breath a little),:lmao:

just kidding !

Ask away any questions ya want answered,,you'll get a answer, and maybe even more than you want, but it's all good fun.

Yes, bring your own cable,,and my short one is 25 feet (that has always reached so far,,BUT it was a stretch once.
And if you let them know when you arrive at the Fort about the "backing in" thingy I'm sure they will help you
(I'm sure id a Diser is there that they would help too)

Hava great trip, and I'll need a trip report, after.

The first year we camped at the Fort - was also our first camping experience as a family and our maiden voyage in our popup.....a Fort CM actually helped us back into our site:thumbsup2. Someone will be willing to help you out so don't even worry about it.

Welcome to the Camping Board! :cool2:

There aren't very many questions that will get you laughed at, so don't worry. It's a friendly, helpful group here.

As for cable, The hook up is generally on the post with the electric. All the sites we have been in have it about mid way into the site. It depends on where your cable hookup is on the camper/RV. Mine is at the rear corner and a 25ft reaches most places I've camped. Cable is cheap and you can get all you need at Wal Mart., so I wouldn't worry. The other nice thing is most campers have extra and we're pretty nice. If I see you are short, I'll give you one of mine.

Some sites have the utility post at the rear of the site, so it just depends on the site layout and you camping equipment location. Have fun.

Maybe you could post your camping dates here. Then, you can have some back up helpers at the Fort, just in case you need a little extra assistance cause the expert in your family wont be there with you and your mum. You can always trade cell phone numbers in a PM, and whomever is just relaxing at their site could golf cart on over to give you all a helping hand. We would be glad to help you out if you're there when we are.

Don't worry about the backing in thing. We have been out plenty of times just walking the dog and have stopped to assist people trying to back into their spots. You'll end up with more parking helpers than you know what do do with. :thumbsup2

There is usually someone that is willing to help you get backed in. As far as the cable goes, it depends upon where you attach to your unit as well as where the utility post is located on the site. We used to bring a 25ft and a 50ft cable, but last year my DH rerouted the connector to the rear of our MH. When will you be at the fort?

We arrive on April 1st. Only 13 more days!!!!! :)

Everyone on here has been really nice and helpful. I told my Mom we wouldn't have problems finding people to help.

Thanks for the packing list. I'll be sure to check that out tonight when I get home.

I am really looking forward to saying hello to other Disers at the Fort. Thanks to this thread I have learned a lot.

We have a Premium Site but have not requested a loop or anything. Even after reading everything on here I'm still not sure where we would want to be.

We did rent the Golf Cart for the 8 nights that we are going to be there.

I can't wait!!!!!

I would take 50', I always errr on the safe side. But then again I 'overpack' and bring jackets in the middle of summer 'just in case' lol

As others have stated, backing into a site at Disney is one of the easiest places to find help. When I first got my RV and I was going to the Ft. with just my son, a CM met me at the site and helped me back in and get settled.

Another thing that I have found, it that if you are blocking a loop trying to get into your site. People waiting to pass you are EXTREMELY patient!

Have fun!

Another question - how do you tell which Golf Cart is yours when you leave it at the bus station? (You can take it to the bus station right?)

Thanks again!!! Only 7 more days!!!!!!

I think the Disney carts are numbered and if you're renting from an outside company, you can decorate it, tape a sign to the windshield, or leave something in it like an empty bag or water bottle. Just don't leave anything that someone may want!!

We always decorate our cart "hawaiian style" - can't miss it! It's a disney cart but we use clips, etc....nothing that will damage the cart in any way. If all else fails, they are numbered.

Also we keep a small towel in a plastic bag in the cart - that way if it rains you have something to wipe the seats off

I agree ...

Bring your own cable and 25' should be enough and 50' more than enough.

Only 2 more days!!!!!! I can't wait. My parents had the camper cleaned today and we are loading it up!!! Yeah

Whose Kenny? And how much for a week or how do I contact them. I am going to need a golf cart. Last time I walked my poor feet to death.
