Don't know what to do AAA w/dining or hold out for AP rates

This is a bit boring, so bear with me. I currently have AAA room only ressies for the Poly Nov. 17-25. I have been holding out for AP rates and really don't expect that to happen after the small number of summer AP rates.

Here is what I am going back and forth on...

I have broken down with AP rates at $100 off a night and DDE I would save approx. $200 over the AAA package with dining. Not a whole lot to scream about. If I want a AAA package I am assuming I will have to cancel my room only with CRO and book through my local AAA. Kinda nervous to give up my ressie as AAA says there are very few GV rooms left.

I also don't know a whole lot about the dining plan and have compared AP to AAA package with no OOP charges for food. Is this possible if we bring breakfast?

Literally pulling my hair out over this. help?!!!

No, you will not have to cancel your room only reservation. What you would need to do is contact your AAA agent (make sure it's a reputable agent) and tell them you want to change your room only to a package. They will ask you to fax them a letter stating you give them permission to "take over" your reservation. Then your agent will fax the info to CRO and in 1 to 2 days AAA will contact you to let you know everything went through.

We did this recently for our trip in July, I was worried about losing my AAA room only rate since there were no longer any AAA rooms available at our resort. My AAA agent explained (and assured me) the process I typed above, and 2 days later I was all set.

Also, remember you don't have to use a local AAA agent, you can use any AAA agent (so make sure you get a knowledgeable one).

Exactly why I am leaning towards the AAA package. I just hate giving up my control of my ressie to someone who doesn't know squat about WDW.

I had a AAA package for my last trip. I used our local office so that I could go there in person and do business rather than on the phone. I felt more in control that way and also found that showing up in person reassured everything was done the right way. Should you decide to go that route you should get paperwork with a confirmation number on it and all your personal info, just double check everything and make sure they get your requests for room location. When you get your final paperwork from disney again double check it. You do not use them to make ADRS so you would still do that yourself plus if you decide to book anything else like tours you also can do that to. So you are not giving up total control of everything. I currently have a AAA rate for December. If an AP rate comes out I'll reserve that and cancel the AAA ressie. If an AP rate isn't available I'm considering transferring the AAA reservation to an agent and turning it into a package with dining. Right now I'm at about the break even point trying to decide if the dining plan is a good deal for us. If I can save additional $$ on the room with an AP rate then that makes the decision easy to not go with dining.

Good luck with your reservation! I don't like to lose control of things either but I think it will be fine.

When I booked our package with an agent from AAA, I knew from the beginning that he knew what he was talking about. WDW is such a popular vacation spot that they have to keep updated on it all the time. You can also ask to speak to a WDW specialist if you have concerns that you won't get a good agent. What's GV? What was the link to the abbreviations page?

By the way, I am a bit of a control freak, too, and I worried about having another person between my Disney plans and myself. It was not an issue, and my agent was gracious and professional while we made changes even until days before our departure. I will highly recommend this agent for the future, plus the advantages of AAA. Good luck

If you are interested I have a great T/A with AAA send me a PM and I can send you her information. She took over my reservation with no problem and I have changed them many times.

Do you have an AP right now? If so then you can still get the DDE and keep your AAA room only reservation. It's at least something.
