They are predicting snow today and next week, I've made all of my ADR's for my May trip and I've done 5 updates in less than a week. How's the weather there, D?

I didn't know this. NO SNOW!!! PLEASE i am so not ready for the snow... yet!!!!!

Hi all! I want to apologize for taking so long with the updates! My only excuse is homeschooling. We have started full-on since returning from our trip, and it takes more outta me than expected. I also came back to the finish of my bible study group, and it's like right when that ends, the holidays are here! Which, I am sure you know, is a whole other set of things to keep you busy!

Most days I think of Dis-ing and it just seems daunting because I know I have SO MANY updates to get through, and photos to upload, and details to recall, etc. So I end up just skipping "for the day" and soon that turns into several days! I am sure I am not the only one!

But I do have TWO updates for you today, and I promise I will get on a better schedule here soon! So enjoy! Love ya all!




One Man’s Dream was pretty cool, lots of fun things to look at. We especially loved all the models of the park icons from around the world, and the replica of Walt’s office. I would really like to go back in there on our Adults only trip and explore a little more.

We decided not to stay for the short movie, because the kids were way too keyed up to sit through anything at this point, so instead we headed back out and towards the direction of the Backlot Tour.

​

I will say I do have a slight regret at not riding the Backlot Tour, especially since it was closing for good a couple days later, but the wait was long, and we didn’t want to miss the Palooza, so instead we skipped it, thus cementing the fact that I never did and never will get to experience it.

We found some pressed pennies in that area, and had to stop. FYI- we went all out, making little M&M containers to store our quarters and pennies in for easy access, yeah, this isn’t that great. Once you start using the money and there’s more space in the container then the change gets all shifted and out of order! So you end up having to dump it in your hand and pull out what you need. By the end of the trip I would just throw some change in my pocket for easier access, but I would think a plastic baggy would be better than the M&M thing… just sayin’….

Back to the trip…after our pennies we walked around the Streets of America a bit. We found the Singin’ in the Rain umbrella and took some photos. Bummer on all the strollers in the background! This spot was near vacant last year; people even had a hard time finding it! Not now that the Frozen sing-a-long was in this area…now it was hoppin’! This also is why we didn’t do the Phineas and Ferb M&G or the Cars one, too many people were in this area and the waits were semi-long, not too bad, but longer than I was gonna wait.

We found a photographer in the area and got these great photos!

Maddie wasn’t in the mood to take more photos, so she opted to stay in her stroller and be moody (darn those terrible 2’s!) the photographer was so sweet and tried to include her by taking photo of her in the stroller, but clearly, Maddie was not having it at all…

I have to laugh at that last photo, I feel it sums up her “terrible” moments she had on this trip perfectly! Hahahaha!

So it was getting close to 3:30, which was when the Kenny the Pirate site said Character-Palooza would be, so waited on the Streets of America, and waited, and waited.

​

As the time drew close it began to rain, again. Darn you, hurricane season! Anyway, it wasn’t too bad, just sprinkling at first and then sort of a light rain right at 3:30. Well, no palooza was to be found, I don’t know if it was the rain and drizzle that kept them away, I can only assume. But come 3:45 it was raining harder and we decided we just needed to go somewhere! And guess what, it was time for our Star Tours FP’s!
Character-Palooza may have been a bust, and it may have been raining, but nothing was stopping us, so off we went!

So, as you recall from Maddie’s terrible face last update, she was in a mood. She was growing fussy from not getting to “do” anything, so Chris and Liv went off to ride Star Tours and Maddie and I went and hung out on the Speeder Bike!

This perked her up a bit! Then I noticed she was getting quite….squishy, lol, so off to find a bathroom was the next order of business. Then, it hit me, the perfect thing to keep Maddie happy….ICE CREAM!

We still had a couple hours until dinner so I grabbed us a Mickey Premium Bar and we found a quiet spot to sit and enjoy. The picture speaks for itself…

Chris sent me these photo's as proof that they rode Star Tours, DROIDS!

​

Soon Chris and Olivia joined back up with us, and Chris went to the same stand I did for our Mickey Bar, to grab a bottle of water. This is where I remembered something TOO COOL! Chris left to get his water and came back smiling, turns out he got a FREE one! He said that when he walked up he smiled and asked the guy “hi, how are you” and the man smiled and said he was good and pulled out a clipboard, wrote something down and asked what he wanted, Chris said a water and her handed it to him and when Chris asked how much, he said nothing, just to enjoy!

I recalled at that moment reading something about always asking CM’s working the small snack stands how they are doing. Apparently CMs are trained to give something when guests ask how they are doing. I, of course, don’t know if this is a hard and fast rule, but it certainly couldn’t hurt, and it’s always nice to be nice to CM’s! So ALWAYS ask how the CM’s are doing before you order!!

It was finally getting closer to dinner, about an hour or so to go, and I knew Lori was in the park somewhere, so we decided to head on over to the area near 50’s and just hang out, I think the long day was finally catching up with us.

First we went to check out the Indiana Jones shop, and we took this picture in that area.

We let Maddie down to walk and burn off some energy, and took a few photos at Echo Lake.

​

We were actually trying to get Maddie to look up and smile at the camera, and she kept looking and pointing down when I noticed that she had actually spotted something cool… A SURVEY MARKER!

​

Go, Maddie! A true Disney Parks fan in the making, right there!

A couple more pics…and some Disney ducks!! The best kind, ya know!

Then we found a nice bench to sit and relax until I got a text from Lori that they were ready to go eat! So in we went to 50’s! Finally, I’d been looking forward to this meal for a looooooooong time!

First though, we had to get the seating worked out. We actually checked in about a half hour early, our hope was to give them time to accommodate our requests, and it was pretty packed. As it stood, Lori and her family had one ADR and we had one, when we talked to Disney Dining wayyyyyyy back, they suggested just showing up early and asking to be seated together. So that’s what we did!

At first, we got a CM who seemed rather confused by the whole request, but thankfully he asked his managing CM, and she worked it out, no problems, she was super nice!! I wish I would have gotten her name actually. She knew we had a long wait so she gave brought some colors and color sheets over to the kids while we were waiting, then she even asked if she could get us some drinks while we waited and brought us all out some waters! Above and beyond, so sweet!

Anyway, I don’t recall exactly how long we waited, because really I was fine waiting and talking with Lori, the girls were playing together and enjoying the fun seating…

And the hubby’s were chatting it up as well. But soon they did call for us and then it was our turn to EAT!!!

Date nights are the best! We saw Gone Girl, I really liked it but I read the book first, which was AMAZING! The movie was filmed in the small town I went to college in, which was really neat, lots of sights I recoginzed!

I'm a little bummed we didn't get to ride Maelstrom and Backlot tour one more time before they closed. And the Jack Sparrow thing- heard that is closing right before we get there? Never saw that.

Thanks for the tip about the money for those. I had printed labels but they didn't fit my M&M tubes so I was going to have to do new ones. I kept wondering if it was even worth it to do the tubes rather than just having a bag of quarters and pennies- so thank you! You have saved me some time and ink!
