I'm pretty sure a few of the "photographers" have never held or used a camera.. I took my own pictures, my DH was even taking pictures and we still gave our photopass to the photographers.. My thought was with three people taking pictures surly one of them will be a keeper.. Well It wasn't the photopass photographers.. They really should give them a lesson in taking photographs before handing them the camera..
Now I'm not saying they were all bad but man have we had a good laugh since we got home and looked at our pictures.. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: really Can't believe how bad some of them are.

LOL, I felt the same way. Funny, we had the same camera as the photo pass people..just a different brand. our photos came out BETTER than the ones they took. I did order one though, of the 4 of us on Mainstreet with Tinkerbell in our hands.. not that was a bit of magic we couldn't do ourselves!

lol-can we access theirs to make our futrure choices???

My 3 boys are great at photos, I never ask, but me and youngest may have to make our own trips soon...so we are lookig for the pluses and minuses

My camera is the exact same one they were using.. and they even had an extra flash. I left home because i didn't want the extra weight to carry around..

I had missing photos. I did send in the description of what I was wearing and where I was. I had also done the pose with the hand cupped for tinkerbell and that was one that didn't show up. I did order 5 pictures from Photopass, since my camera started dying at the end of the trip.

I think ours are gone now.. we went in December of 2004.. I'm sure there are many people on these boards willing to share their photopass photos!

I thought their pictures would be so much better than the ones I took. I was really disappointed, they were the same and some of them weren't even centered! :confused3
I did get one of the ones from the Disney Visa greeting though, they had a really good group shot of us and it was free, can't beat that!

I didn't rely completely on Photopass, but I must say that I was REALLY happy with the ones they took of us in May 05! I bought about 8 of them because they were so good. Several of them were the "magic" ones though--Tinkerbell, Simba, and Stitch. I was happy those turned out because I don't know how to do that stuff!! It was odd though that another family's picture showed up on the ones from MGM. It wasn't a good one though--so I doubt they missed it!! ;)

They use a Nikon D-70. I have the same camera, with the same flash and I always have them take a photo with my camera too. At least I can check right away if it came out well. I have had some of the photopass pictures come out terrible because of them cutting off the top of my husband's head (and he's only 5 ft. 8), cutting off Cinderella's head or even being blurry.
I did have a great CM adjust my camera to the same settings he used at night for pictures in front of the castle. I only asked him to take a picture after he took his for our photopass. He was nice enough to adjust everything himself without me asking him to do it. He also told me how and why to do so. They came out wonderful. I wish they all knew how to use the camera so well. I vow to read my camera manual on the plane next week on the way to WDW so I will be able to use all the bells and whistles myself.
It does tend to get heavy carrying it around all day on one shoulder. I bought a well padded, water resistant camera back pack yesterday in hopes that it will not bother my shoulder like it did in August in a shoulder bag.

I have mixed feelings about the PhotoPass pictures.

We did buy some that were fantastic and then there were other ones that were pretty terrible.

My favorite terrible pictures were some of my 7yr old DD. I asked the photographer to take some pictures of her with Tinkerbell in her hand and she moved her against a building on main street and took them there. These pictures have a lovely background of a brick wall :earseek: . In 2004 the photographer did this same type of picture with the castle in the background - it was a lot better!!! Needless to say, we didn't buy one of those pictures.

I agree that the many of the photopass folk could use a basic course in photography. I also wouldn't have been comfortable relying on thier pictures when we got back home. But don't forget that they will also take a picture for you with your own camera. We have one of the super zoom (10X optical) canon cameras I I put it on fully automatic and had it with zoomed out as far as it can go. At that point they just aimed and shot the picture. Having it zoomed out all the way meant I didn't have to worry too much about how they framed the picture. I then cropped it at home. I was also able to check the photo right when it was taken. For printing 4x6 or even 5x7 it was no problem and these are just about the only photos of the trip that I am in.

I just go to 1 of the photo stores and check during the day to make sure

1 they are on my card
2 they are at lease ok

That way I can get them redone if it's ones I really want.

We have had good luck with the Photopass people. None of our shots have had any problems. We also have the same camera that they use and have gotten a few comments about it. Hopefully our luck will continue.

Some of our Photopass pictures from our December trip turned out better than others. The funniest one was taken at MGM and the photographer had us told his hat and look surprised. He said something would be in the picture when we looked at it. When we got home and looked at the pictures, sure enough the picture was there with us looking surprised, but unfortunately the hat was empty!! My daughter thinks Stitch was supposed to be in the hat. We laugh at that picture everytime we look at it. I'm glad someone posted this thread - I have to decide what pictures I'm ordering. I think they expire in 10 days.

We had a number of pictures taken by Disney photographers Christmas week and they were excellent! We bought several of them while there! We were very pleased.

Our photopass pictures weren't very good either. A security guard offered to take our picture in front of the castle and it came out much better than the ones the photopass photographer took.

I went on to get my "free" picture (with the purchase of my vacation package) only to find that shipping to Canada is $6.95 US. And none of them are worth the $7.

I bought a whole set of pictures at Ohana's including a magnet and a keychain, 2-5x7's and 2 wallets for around $25. I am probably in the minority wishing that more (non character) restuarants offered the picture packs.

I just checked mine from Oct 28-30th They are still up wanting me to buy.

.why buy what you can have for free
