DONE 7/28!! My Life on the DVC Blacklist - an August '09 Pre-Trip.

Dude. You may have originated the list. LY/MI! :rotfl:

HEY!

I resemble that remark;)

Besides, I would of thought it was LL;)

That's it, if I ever get to buy DVC, it will have to go under Jim's name:scared1:

That is a very good idea.

BTW, dont CM's get to buy the points super cheap? Have your parents buy them and add your name to the deed.

Not that I am enabling or anything:rolleyes1

If I wasn't on The List I am now--I just changed my reservation with DVC again.

V! I'm so glad you posted on my PTR because I didn't realize you had started a new one. I understand what you mean about wanting to do a TR but wanting to find a different way to do that - I've been struggling with that too. How many times can I type "We had fun on HM, and then made our way to BTMRR"?

Your recounts of past trips decided upon on a whim with the added bonus of waltzing into a Disney resort at 10pm and getting a room.....well that sounds like a wonderful, lovely fairy tale. I only had about 2 1/2 months to plan my March trip and that seems last minute! :rotfl2:

So exciting you're staying at the new AKVs - I don't think I have read any TRs yet where the writer has stayed there, so I'm curious to hear about them.

Re: The mysterious Buffy who sent you an email from DVC - wouldn't surprise me if that was a fake name, I remember from when I worked at Epcot that a lot of people who work in the call centers use fake names (it had something to do with having only one person per name - so if a guest called and complained about a conversation they had with "Bill", they would know exactly who it was). A friend of mine worked in CRO and used the name "Cash"

Ok, ok....I'm seriously LATE...but I'm here.

Now I have to go back and read from P1 at lunch time today. Just marking my spot!!

LY/MI

Okay I've been a lurker but decided to de-lurk myself. I'm having a brain fart though..when in June are you going?
Thanks for coming out of lurkdom! Read on, though... June's out the window

I resemble that remark;)

Besides, I would of thought it was LL;)
:lmao: True that!

If I wasn't on The List I am now--I just changed my reservation with DVC again.
Woo hoo, welcome to the Club! :rotfl:

Y'know, it really did feel fairytale-esque. Somehow, those late-night decisions to spend the night felt all the more magical in their unplanned states!
A friend of mine worked in CRO and used the name "Cash"
:rotfl2: That's perfect!
So glad to have you along again! :goodvibes

THERE you are! I was getting worried. :worried:
You're just in time, too, because another update's coming up...

The title of this update is a genuine song lyric, BTW… 100 points to anyone who can name its origin WITHOUT Googling!

C’mon – you had to know it was coming, right?!

Sure enough, as you’ll note in the revised title of this here pre-trippy, I’ve changed things again. For the record, though, this was entirely NOT my fault! Here’s what happened…

So, the whole reason I moved this originally-scheduled-for-August trip to June was because of the dingbats who scheduled summer camps to begin a week after school ends, right? That left me with a week I’d need to take as vacation time and screwed up our plans to vacation at WDW with friends.

Well, a couple days ago, a note went home from my son’s after school program. It was just a reminder of due dates and amounts for payments, and also showed how many weeks each payment covered.

I quickly scanned the note before tossing it… and something grabbed my attention. The April payment includes the first week of May. But the May payment covers five weeks. That means I’m paying for the whole first week of June, even though school lets out June 2 – the after school program will be open all day June 3-5!

It turns out I don’t need to take that week in June off. Which means… I could put our WDW vacation back where it started!!!

Assuming…

…availability at a DVC resort.

And you know what that meant.

Uh-huh.

A call to DVC Member Services (MS). :headache:

I put in the call yesterday, and after a very short wait on hold, spoke with the lovely Olivia. I began the call by apologizing profusely for changing things yet again, but she reassured me that it was no problem at all. Really, she was very, very nice and super helpful.

And it struck me – MS isn’t in the business of making sales, unlike Disney Reservations. If the MS reps are consistently busy answering calls, there continues to be a need for them. Need = job security in these tough economic times. So, really, my continual calls are helping retain jobs, right?!

Anyway, Olivia (I guess “Buffy had the day off) kindly canceled my June reservation at AKV Jambo House and asked for my new dates. I told her “Aug. 2-7” and she asked which resort I’d like. Frankly, I assumed my choices would be limited to Saratoga or Old Key West, so I just answered, “Well, what’s available?”

And here’s why I’m feeling good about keeping people employed in any way I can – every single resort, in every single category, had a studio available, excepting Beach Club Villas. In the middle of summer. Not a good sign for Disney, or for Florida’s tourism. But good news for me, only…

I was completely flummoxed! I’m not a morning person in the first place and I just could not think where we’d like to be. Olivia was great! She said something to the effect of “You were booked at AKV Jambo House, and AKV is really a great resort. Maybe you’d like to stay there but try Kidani Village? It opens in May, so it’ll have had a chance to iron out the kinks by August, but will still be fresh and new!”

I was sold. Thanks so much Olivia!

So, yes, this “June” Pre-Trip Report has suddenly morphed into an August Pre-Trip Report.

Which means my poor readers can look forward to an additional two months of rambling lunacy in print. Good times ya’ll!

Next: Introductions. Really. ;)

Haha, glad Olivia could help! I can't wait to hear about the Kidani Village now!

YAYYYYYYY WAHOOOO your are not on the blacklist and now when you get back I'll know what I am in for at Kidani in September.
Does this mean you'll get to meet up with your friends?
I for one am looking forward to 2 more months of your pre-trippy!!

D'Oh! :headache: Forget it.

It turns out I don’t need to take that week in June off. Which means… I could put our WDW vacation back where it started!!!
 :woohoo: :yay: :worship:

Good news for me, too! :teeth:

I smell illegal pool hopping. Or is it legal? I know Uzima pool is a no-no, what about Kidani?

ARRRRGGG!!!I will miss you by 1 DAY!!!We arrive on Sat the 8th..I swear the disney Gods are keeping us apart:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Glad Olivia was able to help and she was nice about it too!
WOOOOHOOOO for getting your pick of the litter on resort choices!!!

Wow, I can't believe everything was available in August!!! Amazing!!
I can't wait to see Kadani Village in May! Can't wait to hear more!!

OOOOOO!Kidani Village!!!:cool1: I'll be VERY excited to see that report. Take lots of pictures!

Unless, of course... you change it ... again!!:rolleyes1

I heard on our local news this morning that Disney is cutting jobs in its theme park division. Mentioned the 5% decrease in attendance the past quarter or something like that. While I was bummed for my precious Disney, I couldn't help but think, "Good, stay away! Less lines for me!!!":upsidedow

DARN....I was going to go GOOGLE it before I realized that was against the rules! :confused3

I love your theory!! Thanks for doing your part! :lmao:

Next: Introductions. Really. ;)[/SIZE]

:surfweb: Can't wait!

I feel like I know the song, dang it. Can't get it without Googling. ;)

It's great news about the after-school situation! :goodvibes

And hooray on not being on the blacklist! :lmao:

Well, a couple days ago, a note went home from my son’s after school program.
The greatest note I EVER got from my daughter's school came this past Christmas. It read, and I quote "Friday is the last day for our canned food drive and we are short of our goal. Parents, we encourage you to please recheck your panties for additional items to donate." I laughed so hard I needed a Kleenex. My wife teaches at the same school and told the that this particular note spawned more calls the office in one day than they usually get in an entire semester.

And it struck me – MS isn’t in the business of making sales, unlike Disney Reservations. If the MS reps are consistently busy answering calls, there continues to be a need for them. Need = job security in these tough economic times. So, really, my continual calls are helping retain jobs, right?!

We in the call center community thank you for your patronage. :thumbsup2

I was completely flummoxed!
I hate it when I'm flummoxed. Being quagmired is fine, discombobulated is tolerable, but flummoxed...well that's the sort of thing that will keep you up at night.
