Hello I have a 10:10 A.M. Ressie but I was wondering if I have no FP+ for the Safari Ride what time would they start running that so I know if I should cancel my ressie (plan on getting to rope drop and going right to the ride) as I am only in AK for half a day. I also have a lunch Ressie for the same day at 11:55 A.M. Not sure which one to keep

Check the park hours for that day, but you should be able to get on fairly early (shortly after 9 AM for a 9 AM opening). Tusker House is not far from the Safari so you can head right there afterwards!

Here's my experience from Sunday Oct. 11. We had an prepark ADR at Tusker House. When we left the restaurant at 8:45 there was a line of people waiting for the Safari. I'm guessing that people were let into the park and then were held at certain points. At around 8:55 or so the line began moving. We rode Safari, I don't remember how long we waited, maybe 15 minutes. Plus the ride is about 20 minutes and we were at Everest around 10:00. So I think it would be doable since Tusker House is right by the Safari.

Thank you. We have never been to AK so I am not sure on trying to do an attraction and then eating or doing the attractions when park opens at 9:00 and doing the lunch buffet.
Do you recommend one over the other? We have never done the Dining Plan either (second trip)

We prefer breakfast. Lunch a few bucks more expensive so if you're on the dining plan, lunch is a better value if that's a concern. If you keep the 10:10 ADR, you'll have no problem doing the safari first if you get there for rope drop.

Without FP+ for Safari, I would do Safari at RD and then go to your 10:10 am reservation. Safari is very close to TH, so we always try to do one right after the other. If you wait to do Safari later, you risk a big line. If you do Safari at RD, but have the later ADR, you will find yourself crisscrossing the park to do rides and attractions and then walking back to TH. That's a lot of wasted time just walking (AK is pretty big!). I would stick to the Safari RD, followed by TH plan.

I also think that Tusker House has a tendency to run late. We have never been seated earlier than 20 minutes past our ADR and sometimes much later. So you risk having an even longer line for the Safari if you go to it after dining.

We were seated a little late for our pre-park opening breakfast, but were at a great table and finished quickly. It allowed us to go straight to the safari and there was a minimal 5 minute wait. If I had to chose I would chose lunch as we love the food choices at lunch and dinner there. The breakfast is also good, but the lunch is a little more unique. Good luck!

Is there any way to get a FP for the safari still? I always have an early breakfast at TH (8:30) and then arrange my FP for right after I'm done eating.

I really enjoyed breakfast!

I have also found (of course this depends on crowd size, when you're going, etc) that we don't use FP's at Animal Kingdom. We get there early, hit Everest, go to the safari, and save our Fastpasses for another park that afternoon. :)

Were you behind the crowd at RD for Safari- even though you were at Tusker House and done by 8;45? I have a reservation and part of the reason is the close proximity to Safari. If they are letting RD people on before Tusker House lines- that would concern me...

Actually that day its extra magic hours so AK is going to open at 8:00 A.M. Does this mean that Safari would start running that early if we got there for RD? I can't get any FP because i made them for MK on the same day for 7DMR and two others so i can't make FP for AK.

You should be able to easily ride KS before tusker house on an EMH morning. Although more of a hike, that is also a great time to ride Everest. :)

I had lunch on a previous trip and didn't much care for the food on the buffet. I'd already read good things about the breakfast so we decided to try it. In my opinion the breakfast was much better. I'd do breakfast there again, but wouldn't do lunch again. I had thought about booking a later breakfast, but after talking to the people I was traveling with, decided that the earlier time would work better for us.

Yes, we were behind some of the crowd at RD. I think we were somewhere in the middle. I was surprised when we walked out and there was a bunch of people standing there. I wasn't sure if it was a line for safari or what. I was hoping to beat a lot of the crowds especially since we were done at 8:45, but I guess that won't happen if they start letting people in before 9:00. On the plus side, I got some really good pictures on the way in with no people in them.
