I dare you.

Don't tempt me![]()
Frankly, I don't think we'll have much of a choice but to quack to find each other. Y'all talk about wearing lime green shirts and Donald Ducks, as though you'll be standing out from the crowd. Hello?!? It's Disney World and there's gonna be a couple hundred DIS'ers there running that night. You think Disney characters on lime green anything will look obvious? I think quacking is our best plan! Yep, and I think we'll have to add the wing-flap movement, too, just to make sure we find the right group. You never know...there may be rogue Defiant Dashing Ducks out there in the dark at 10 PM. It'll be our safest move.
Quack on, Ducks!

Call me stupid, but I don't drink anything for runs up to 1 hour long. I hydrate well before I go, then leave a big bottle of water on the front porch, so when I get back I can guzzle it down. I've tried the belt thing, but it rubs me raw. And I can't hold anything in my hands for that long without my hands cramping up. So I go without. And I don't eat anything until I hit 15 mile runs (or so). So I won't need to worry much for this half or the training. There will be water spots along the course, so I'll rehydrate in the humid Florida night during the race, but no food until the party.
Quack on, Ducks!
The lime should still stand out . . . after all, it's not Team in Training purple!
I like the picture of a bunch of people walking around quaking.Wish I could see it!
I also have a question to ask one of you running experts. I am doing a walk/jog combo of 3 min/2 min on the treadmill and outside. I have noticed that when I am walking on the treadmill my shins hurt so I have to slow down a little or I find myself holding onto the handle. At first I thought I was walking too fast, but my pace is the same outside as on the treadmill, but my shins don't hurt when I am outside. And they don't hurt either place when I jog. So I am not sure what I am doing wrong, unless it's something with my stride that's off when I walk. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
You do know that the Official Color of the DIS is lime green? Most DIS'ers will be wearing The Green.
And is no one else concerned about the potential for rogue Defiant Dashing Ducks?!?Perish the thought!

Laura - Oops! didn't mean to offend, if I did. I guess I spend too much time on the DIS and assume many more DIS'ers are at the running events than really are. Having never run a Disney race, I am clueless. Again, sorry if I offended. So maybe meeting at Tent D with Lime Green on and/or a Donald Duck attached in some form would work?
Ran 10K today. Took a minute off my time from last Saturday, so there is some progress.
Liz - I signed up for the "Canadian Derby Edmonton 10K" on 21 August. Now I've got an intermediate race to train for before the half in October.
Signed up this week for a few F&W Festival special dining events for the week after the half. 10 weeks until the W&D Half now? Is that right? How's everyone's training coming along?
Howdy Ducks!
My husband returned home from deployment last week so on Friday I finally got the chance to run outside for the first time!I didn't measure distance or speed - just wanted to see how it felt. I think it went well. Definitely takes more effort to slow my speed down. Next time I run I will hopefully be able to tell how fast I'm going.
One thing was different from running outside over the treadmill - my thighs were so sore!! I'm guessing it's because it takes more effort to propel yourself forward than when you're on the treadmill.
This morning I finally utilized the gym here at our development and got on the bike for a bit. I want to start cross-training again and I think biking is a great option for me. I really enjoyed it.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!![]()
So glad your hubby is home! Please tell him THANK YOU from all of us. We appreciate what he does for us & we're so glad he is home & safe.
GREAT job running outside!
I can't believe I have six weeks til my first half.
Even scarier is that school starts in JUST four weeks!![]()
