What is this character meal like?? I have 2 ds (5&9) is this something they will enjoy? What will be the best time to make the ADR for-early or later?

This is my kid's favorite breakfast meal. There is plenty of fresh fruit, donuts, dry cereal and milk, and then the cooked breakfast fare. They have waffles, pancakes, hash browns, several varieties of eggs and omlettes, bacon, sausage, biscuits and grave, and I am sure lots more that I have missed.
Out front they take a family photo for you to decide of you want to purchase. Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Pluto make their way around to your table for photos and normal character interractions.
Some of the CM's are spectacular with all sorts of "slapstick" type entertainment.
It is a wonderful breakfast meal for character interraction (as they all are).

If you have any specific questions, please let me know.

Donald's was my least favorite character meal. It was so crowded that we never made it back to the buffet for seconds. And the characters were very rushed and didn't take much time with guests.

Didn't I read something about the character breakfast at Donald's being discontinued after Yak & Yeti opens? I can't remember for sure.

We were there about a month ago. They didn't have as many offerings on the buffet as Boma's (we went there during the same trip that is why I am comparing the 2). I believe Boma was about the same price and so much more - made to order omelettes, carving station, and MUCH better pastries. IMO, at Donald's is all about the characters and not the food. Plus, they take your picture in front of the resturant by the sign, and then come around to your table trying to sell that photo package for about $30.00 (and of course that photo won't be on the PhotoPass).

    Only my opinion! :)

In the 08 unofficial guide it says that Donald's breakfast is going to be Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House Restaurant, opening in November 2007. It says the characters will be Daisy, Mickey, and Goofy, along with Donald of course. I am planning on adding this meal mainly because of Daisy being there! Trouble is I also wanted to do Ohana breakfast and I think DBF will tell me to pick one :sad2:

We went to the Donald Breakfast early morning. Our Reservation was at 8am- it was not crowded.. we had no problems getting there on Disney buses and since we were one of first ones there. (only 4-5 people there before us) Son got picked to escort Donald, Mickey & Goofy into breakfast.. We go pics taken with them in back.. and he got to walk out with them. He loved this and food was good.. Also, CM made Son sign for breakfast charges too.. He liked doing that also... I would recommend this definately, esp if you do early reservation.. We were done eating BEFORE the park opened.. and actually had to wait to be able to walk around.

Our experience in Sept a couple of years ago was similar - we had an early reservation, for a group of 9. We liked having the park empty when we went in, and to have a jump on the day in the park when we left.

However, the best part for me was Donald!, the worst was the food. Even though I'm a *big* Donald fan, I don't think I'll be booking another one. The food was just 'okay' in our opinion, the character interaction mediocre compared to the Lilo & Stitch breakfast we had at the Poly, and the whole photo experience did seem like an annoying upsell. (My parents bought the photo anyway because it was the only one we'd gotten of all of us, and the kids were in cute, characteristic poses.)

I bought a couple extra t-shirts and loaned out some too, so that the whole family could wear Donald Duck shirts to the Donald breakfast. To top it off, my family used this opportunity to present me with a Donald Duck watch to thank me for organising and executing the group trip. So, the special part of the breakfast really wasn't anything Disney provided, except Donald showing up, and overall, I'd suggest a different meal. Maybe do a morning extra magic hour, then take a bus over to Animal Kingdom Lodge for a lunch afterwards?

We tried Breakfastasaurus last year. To sum up our experience:

Pros: Good character selection and interaction, nice setting (tables were spaced apart and atmosphere was dark and comforting). Food was delicious.

Cons: Buffet setup. This restaurant is converted to a buffet only in the mornings so it isn't a permanent buffet. And it shows. The line gets congested and crowded. In addition, while to food was very good, there wasn't as much selection as Cape May or Boma and *definitely* not as much as Crystal Palace.

Overall, I would do it again but I'm hoping though that the Tusker House renovation will fix the problems I mentioned.

We were there on 9/2. This was our least favorite character meal. The food selection was not as good as any of the other breakfast buffets we have been to at Disney. They had only doughnuts and danish as sweets. Chef Mickey had a large variety of pastries, croissants, gummy bears... The characters were very rushed. By the time you took 1 picture they moved on. I would not return.

I'm not sure when, but it will be closing soon as it switches over to the Tusker House.

This is the worst character meal we've had at Disney. The food was bad. The place was crowded. I like the character selection, but would prefer them in a setting like the Crystal Palace or the Garden Grill.

My un-educated guess is that the new Tusker House character breakfast will be much better than the Breakfastsaurus, which was good enough but not as good as most of the other WDW breakfasts.
