So lately I've seen a lot of negative things being said about Restaurantosaurus/Donald's Breakfastosaurus.. I've made an ADR to surprise my DH (we have no children) since Donald is his favorite character, but now I'm wondering if I should cancel. Honestly, what is the food like? Also, we have a 10:00am ADR, but I was thinking of making it earlier to get into the park earlier, but then someone else told me that a later ADR is good because it's less crowded and character interaction is better.

Advice, please! :confused3

Don't worry. It was great. The interaction was wonderful and the food was good. It was one of our better dining experiences this trip. Pluto and Donald were fighting over my son and it was hilarous.

We did this on our last trip and really enjoyed it. My dh remembers it as one of the better breakfast buffets and wanted to do it again this year. I really did not think it was any different than any other buffets we did. The character interaction was good for us and we had 9am adr's.

We had an ADR for 10:15 at Donalds and I thought that all the food would be gone. I know sounds silly. But when we got there they were still putting food out. It was less crowded, and the characters were in no hurry to leave. They keep Donald and Mickey seperate, :teeth: Donald thinks he is #1 and even signed his name that way. :rotfl: The food is normal breakfast fare. Very good. Hot. They had a hot section with pancakes, eggs bacon, sausage, etc. Then a cold section with fruit and ceral, muffins, doughnuts etc. Its not gourmet kind of stuff but good. The characters look so cute in their outfits with dinos all over them.

I also think you adr is fine. Get to the gates before opening, get in line, and when they open you can do EE, then Dinosaur, before you hit breakfast.

Have fun! :goodvibes

It'll be fine! The food was fine. We felt rushed during our 8 am ADR - like the characters and waiters were ensuring that we got out before 9 am - but I bet it will be a different experience a bit later after the park is opened. Enjoy!

i've never felt rushed and always enjoyed meal

I almost cancelled because there were (it seemed) more bad than good reviews of Donald's Breakfast... The CM from reservations told me not to cancel and to trust her that it would be GREAT... It was.... There was plenty of interaction. The waiters and waitresses were involved in "pranks"... Not bad or embarassing ones... just funny ones. The characters made their rounds to each table and took their time doing it because it's a fairly small restaurant. There was plenty of time to set up to take pictures.

The food was good... Not Great.... But.... Good. The hot dishes were hot and the cold dishes were cold. I think you should go and judge for yourself. In fact, I've decided to ask questions on the forums but to make the final choice myself. Otherwise, you'd never try anything different... AND... what one likes/hates...another may feel differently.... Have fun at Donald's and throughout WDW....

Go and expect a great experience! We loved this breakfast... when we went besides the buffet, they offered made to order omlettes. Very good! It's one of the few places you can count on seeing Donald. And a 10 am time will give you time to pick up an EE fast pass before you go in!

As for the bad reviews... not to discount anyones bad experience, but I can't think of very many restaurants at WDW that have never gotten a bad review from someone on DIS. At most WDW restaurants most people have good experiences, most of the time, sometimes people have bad experiences. It seems random. It can happen, but most of the time it doesn't.

thanks for posting. We are going to Donalds for the first time this year. I wanted to do one character meal and we picked this one. Im sure it will be great. Even though we did make it for first thing in the morning 8am during an EMH

We went there in 2003 and Nov 2005. Heading back again in Nov 2006 ! Large selection to choose from, food itself was good and the characters make it around quickly. The waiter even had fake ketchup he pretended to spill on my 5 yr old!

IMHO I think it is the best character breakfast buffet of all.

We have eaten here twice and have always enjoyed the food and the characters. We have never felt rushed and have always come away with having a great experience!

We have eaten there many times and have loved it every time. It's one of our favorites.

Have fun!!!

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone! :teeth: I'm keeping our ADR.. I think it'll be a fun surprise for DH. Can't wait to get pictures of DH with his favorite duck! :donald:

We have been there a couple of times and have enjoyed it. We have never been rushed and the food is good. The character interaction has also been great but there are times when the kids are more interested in the food and not the characters

Had great fun in April with my DF (2 adults) and my favourite character interaction was here - Pluto spent almost ten minutes with us, dancing with me and messing around, we had such a good time :D Enjoyed the food too! :thumbsup2

We've done this breakfast several times and enjoyed it each time (just DH and I before our daughter was born). The character interaction & CM antics is fun - I never felt rushed once. We also enjoy the food here. It's even better when they have the two buffets open.

I am taking my nephews here in August.

We have also done this breakfast a few times and always enjoyed it. As a matter of fact, we will be there in December with family. We've done the breakfast at the Poly and Chef Mickey's too. This one ranks right up there with them. You'll enjoy yourself and watching the characters interact with the others around you. Our DS's are older now so we get our picture with the characters and then enjoy watching the children around us get so excited to see Donald, Goofy, Mickey, etc. What a blast!

P.S. The food is good too - just no Mickey waffles (that would be the only down side). Enjoy! pixiedust:

We were just there a few weeks ago and we LOVED it. It was the best breakfast buffet we had, I liked it better then Chef Mickey. Everything was great, we will do it again for sure. We had ADR at 8 so the park wasn't open yet and it was fun to see no one at the park. After we ate we went ont he safari ride, a great way to start the day off. Nancy

We LOVE Donald's. Like the other posters have said - hot food hot, cold food cold. Also, no mushy/been left out too long food either

This is always a MUST DO for us. We like it that much AND my DS10 is a big Donald fan. I was frantic when I went to make ADR's (at 3 months out) and realized that they were accepting them 6 months out. I just "knew" we weren't going to get Donald's at 8am on the day we wanted. Guess what, we did  Phew.

We enjoy eating early and getting into the park before it opens. So, the only "rushing" we've every had is our own :rolleyes1 We haven't felt rushed by any cast members.

Oh, I also have to say that we feel this is one of the more quieter meals at WDW. Yes, I said "quieter". My DH has a hard time hearing when there's lots of background noise and even in some non-buffet meals it's very hard to hear. He says he can hear better at Donald's. (I'm not saying it "quiet", just "quieter" than some others).

For what it's worth - we like Donald's 100x better than Chef Mickeys.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but they have KRISPY KREME DONUTS here!!! :)
