Hey everyone,

I am going to Disney next week, and am trying to decide whether or not to keep my breakfast reservations at AK's Tusker House. The park opens at 9, and my reservations are for 10:30, and it is a 4 that day on the crowd level.

From your experience, would you say it is worth while to do the breakfast, or should we skip it and stick to attractions?

Thanks!!!

from our recent experience, I would highly recomend that if you do go, you get there early, we got there almost 15 minutes early and still had to wait to be seated. about 20 minutes after our ADR were we seated. we got in there so late that we missed most of breakfast and they started switching the buffet to lunch.

Just my experience, it could be different for you.

I would go back again just not as late. Great food, and the characters were worth it.

I would definitely keep it!

We have had a late breakfast ADR there twice - both times we checked in early and were seated early after short waits. We also had plenty of breakfast food.

This is a fun character meal that actually has good food!

A strategy that worked for us was to arrive at AK for rope drop and walk directly to the safari and ride stand-by. No matter what the sign says the wait is only minutes. There are two perks to this for us - one the animals seem to be more active then and we don't tie up a FP and don't waste time waiting in line.

After riding the safari, we still have time to walk the trail that is right there (I think Pangani) and do some character meeting right near the restaurant.

We usually still have plenty of time to do almost everything in AK before park close.

Enjoy!

We have done this breakfast 3xs (first time @Resturantasaurs) and have enjoyed each time!
However our ADRs were always before park opening so we felt we had a little jump on the rest of the crowds.
Probably would not have made such a late breakfast ADR :scratchin

Interesting. We are hoping to get res for our trip in April what time does the rest open as opposed to the park?

TIA

We have a 10:30 reservation there in January. We usually do a 11:30am breakfast at Chef Mickeys, figuring it takes care of lunch even though it's breakfast food. It's brunch!

We are sortof hoping that the 10:30 Donald Breakfast can serve a similar purpose. At least it can make it so that we can do a lighter lunch on the go later in the day and be able to see a lunchtime show of Nemo or Lion King instead of having to eat at that time. We will likely have a light breakfast/snack in the room before heading over to the park so that we don't get cranky!

i have a similar situation and i plan to ride the safari ride first, since it's over by Donalds, and then get a fast pass when i'm done riding it so that i can eat, and hopefully the fast pass time wont have passed.

We also have a 10:30 ADR here on Dec 31st, our plan is to do RD at EMH AM hours, Do rides until 10:15 and then go have brunch. Wondering if there is an official changing over from bkfst to lunch at 11 or 11:30, I just don't want to miss the characters.

Donald begins serving breakfast at 8. We have an 8:05 ADR for Jan 7. Best way to do breakfast. You have time to eat, play with Donald and Daisy, and still be on the first train up the mountain to see the Yeti.

That's exactly what we did this year. It was a great prelude to our meal! :)

LOVE this place!! The entire staff was awesome and the food was great for a Buffet. We will in the future book this place and not do Chef Mickey. We had that last week and it was lousy.

I went there a couple of weeks ago. Although I thought the food was god aweful, I loved the characters and theme of the restaurant.

I suggest getting into the park as it opens and head straight for your favorite attraction and get Fast Passes. Normally a 9:00 grab of fast passes will get you on the ride around noon, so just as your leaving breakfast, you will get to go on ride. (Though you may not want to hit anything extreme on a full stomach!).

Then get on whatever you can before breakfast.

I went Thanksigiving week and was able to walk onto everything exept Expedition Everest and some twirly ride in Dino land (I forget the name). They each had over a hour wait. Animal Kingdom never seems to fill up too badly. If your plan is to go on the River Rapids, buy a plastic poncho before your trip. They cost $8 in the park and are definitely needed.

This was the best TS of our trip.........the food was FANTASTIC and very tasty! We were there Thanksgiving week also, but I found the park to be packed on Wed. Still........I will be doing this one again.......it was that good......and the jungle juice is delicious!!

We went to a EMH at Animal Kingdom, rode Kilimanjaro Safaris at rope drop and then headed next store for a 9:05 ADR.
This was in early November and we did end up waiting till 9:30 to be seated.
But it was totally worth it. Both me, my DW, and the kids rated this as one of our 2 favorite breakfasts throughout our 9 days.
The eggs were the best buffest eggs we had all week, the bacon was crispy, and the tater tots were a huge hit with the kids.
Mickey Waffles are perennial favorites, and they had really good pastried and muffins.
For the more adventurous, DW loved the African dishes.
The character interaction and parades are alot of fun and well done.
And everyone loved the "Jamba Juice"!
Bottom line, I highly recommend Donald's for breakfast.

Any thoughts on going right onto the Safari ride after breakfast with Donald? That's our plan. Is the ride too rough right after breakfast? We have a ressie for breakfast at 8:05.

The Safari ride is pretty bumpy, so if you have kids with weak stomachs or ones that get easily car sick, you might want to wait for a little while.
