OK, I've heard from some people that you can book a dolphin swim on the shore excursion in the Bahamas that is NOT through Disney.

1. Is it legit? And how good is it?

2. Anybody have the contact numbers?

3. How much is it?

4. What about transportation to and from the ship?

Thanks for any feedback you can give me.

If you are spending any time in Orlando before your cruise, I would highly recommend Discovery Cove. The cost is around 229 per person. This is an all day thing. Included is a dolphin swim, a lazy river to float around in, a stingray lagoon, a bird avairy, a fantastic snorkeling reef with thousands of tropical fish, use of wet suits and vests, towels provided, sunscreen provided, lunch included, one complimentary photo on entry into the park, and you also get seven free days (consecutive) at Sea World and/or Busch Gardens.

I can't say enough good things about how wonderful this place is.

1. It is 100% legit and I highly recommend it.

2. Use the web address ChattyKathy gave.

3. I'm not sure how much it is anymore. I did it about a year ago. It is pricier than the "Dolphin Encounter", which is booked through DCL but is with the same company as the Dolphin Swim, from what I understand. The web site should help you with this.

4. We took a cab to the Paradise Island ferry terminal, then the ferry to the dolphin place (Blue Lagoon?). $4/person each way, which wasn't too bad. You may also have to pay the $1 toll to go across the bridge. The cabs are lined up at the entrance to the pier where the cruise ship docks.

Have fun! This was the highlight of our trip and was thoroughly enjoyable....

We have booked a dolphin encounter directly through the company and it was $75 per person. The only down fall is that there only 2 time slots open this way. 8:30am ( not even in port yet) and 4pm. We booked the 4pm and will probably get back late for early seating for dinner. DCL charges $113 per person. We are on a tight budget so opted to be late. Hope this helps.
