We leave for WDW in 20 days & I thought I had all of my questions answered, but this one just hit me....

I'm taking my mom, dad, sister, niece & daughter to WDW for a "once in a lifetime" family trip & for my daughter's birthday. This is probably the only time we'll ever be able to travel together, so I want it to be special.

This will be our first stay & I have 2 standard rooms booked at the Dolphin for 7 nights at the AAA rate. I'm assuming that IF we receive the SPG Preferred Plus upgrade, we'll receive a Lake view room. I was really thinking about how nice it would be to have either a balcony, or be on Club Level.

Have any of you ever paid for an upgrade at check-in at the Dolphin. I don't have enought points to get a point upgrade so that isn't an option. So, if you've purchased an upgrade at check in, how much was it & what kind of room did you move up to...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks So Much!

If you are getting adjoining rooms, one of them most likely will have a balcony. On the floor where we stayed, every other room had a balcony. I don't think club level has balconies at all. I have not had an upgrade, but we were told last year we could pay an extra $30/night for a balcony room. We declined. Club level upgrades would be much more, and I'm not really sure if it's worth it. We get food for the room on our grocery stop.

We just returned from the Dolphin-I booked standard and was upgraded twice to resort view. I would never pay extra for the view. We looked out the window approximately 1 minute every morning to see if the sun was shining and that was it. We were never in the room!

I would not recommend paying for an upgrade to Club Level unless you really think it will be worth it. I found it to be very disaappointing when compared to concerige or other club level experiences I have had. I was very glad that I got it for free.

Thanks so much for your responses!

Because I haven't stayed there, It's tought to decide whether or not it would be worth it to pay to upgrade to club, if it's even available......

I'd at least like to have a Epcot view with a balcony, but I suppose now, it's just a matter of whether the upgrade fairy will wave her little wand..... :wizard:

Thanks Again To All!

The MAJOR thing to consider on club level is
What is your touring plan? The Club Level is only open a few hours in the morning and evening. I found it acceptable for breakfast, but the limited evening hours were not good for me. (And it was not worth returning to the hotel for what you get)
If you already have several charcter breakfasts you may not save enough on breakfast to make it worth the money.
