Dolphin or Swan?

Which resort do you prefer? Why?

We stayed at the Dolphin 2 years ago on the nurses' rate. GREAT location, which is why we did it...nice pool (although we were there during a cool week in Dec so we did not swim), boat right outside your door for transportation, and we walked to the YC/BC for character breakfast, Boardwalk for dinner, MGM and EPCOT!! How fun is that....the Dolphin seems to have a little more "fun" attitude and the Swan a little more adultish/classy. Both very whimsical, though....

We like the Swan because it is smaller, quieter (less conventioners) and just all around great!

Hi, I'm still pretty new year and combing through DIS preparing for a fist trip. I've gotten most abbreviations down, but what is the YC/BC that you can walk to from Dolphin?

Yacht Club/Beach Club resorts=more dining options that are easily in walking distance

The Swan smaller, quieter, and I really like having the extra sink outside of the bathroom.

Doesn't the Swan have queen beds and the Dolphin doubles? I know I heard that somewhere. If it's true, I'd do Swan (unless you're getting a king bed room).

we have stayed at both, but like the swan better mainly because of the smaller size, we were there in 2005 for a 4 day stay that turned into a 15 day trip because of hurricane katrina and the staff could not have been nicer.

I would recommend the Swan as it is smaller and just feels more manageable to us then the Dolphin does.

I voted for the Dolphin but it really depends IMHO on your traveling party and your prefrences.

I have two kids and we prefer the Dolphin hands down.

We love the Dolphin because;
it has more food choices, esp casual like picabu and the soda fountain
it has the sundries store and the candy store
it has the laundry facilities
it has the arcade
it has the kids club

I have stayed at both and IMHO you can't tell the difference in the bed size and the room amenities are about the same.

The pool area is shared and equal distance as is the boat dock.

You will likely see a fairly even split here... I have stayed at both the Dolphin and the Swan and my wife and I prefer the Swan for a few reasons...

1) Smaller and easier to get to your room
2) Closer to the Boardwalk
3) Two sinks - one in the bathroom and one outside the bathroom
4) Does not seem to have as many "conventioneers"

The Dolphin does have more food choices, but we end up eating in the parks for table service and quick service meals so that is not a big factor for us.

Either way, both are great values and the location is excellent. We will be staying there in May using our SPG points for 5 nights then moving to the Polynesian for the next 4 nights. However, I am seriously considering staying at the Swan instead and not moving because it is a $1200 premium over the cost of 4 nights at the Swan to move resorts ($499 per night vs. $199 per night)... A hefty price tag for the Polynesian...

We stayed at the Swan last June and really liked it, but we are trying the Dolphin this year. I like the idea of having more of the dining options in the same building as well as the laundry room. Also, it seemed like the main pool was a little closer to the Dolphin. I voted for the Dolphin for those reasons.
