Some of our group want to do the swimming adventure. Can the others watch us?

Only if they have tickets to go to discovery cove. The excursion tickets get you on the ferry. Once there you could watch others swim or interact.

We plan to do this on our own not as a Disney excursion. We would go to Chankanaab Park by taxi. I'm not sure I completely understand. So what does it cost to go to discovery cove? HELP!

I would email Dolphin Discovery and ask them specifically. You could definately get into the park, but whether you could go out on the dock and watch is another question. BTW we did the Royal swim in November and absolutely loved it. My DS (11) said it was his favorite thing on the cruise.
