Anybody been to Dollywood yet to ride the new Mystery Mine roller coaster? There's some footage of the outside part of the ride on youtube, but I would love a first-hand report!

I thought it was funny that Dolly herself said she wasn't going to ride it! She said they would be posing her for some pictures but she had no intention on actually riding it.

I rode the old one. Didn't know they'd re-vamped it. WHEE.. I'm going to Dollywood this summer. What can I say. I'm Visiting NC, and Pigeon Forge isn't too far away.

They have an excellent promo video on dollywood.com that really shows a lot of the ride. It is a great watch... check it out!

I think you must be thinking of Blazing Fury as the "old one." It's still the same. Mystery Mine is brand new. I'm more than a little afraid to ride it. I love all the roller coasters at WDW but I don't particularly like to go straight down. Mystery Mine apparently has a 95 degree, 85 foot drop, and I believe it's in the dark. :scared:

I'll ride it next time we're at Dollywood!!! I'm a coaster freak. I just don't have a clue when we'll go there next.

As somebody brought up about Dolly not riding it - she doesn't *do* the adventurous rides. She might lose her wig. (she said it, I didn't...)

I saw her interviewed when she opened that coaster last year, and when asked she said something like "If I hop on that thing all sorts of things will start flying off!" :lmao:

DH and I were at Dollywood a couple weeks ago, he thought about riding it but the line was kind of long so he passed as I wouldn't ride it with him (it goes upside down, no thanks!). And that straight down drop didn't appeal to me either!! :scared1:

Your revamped ride could be the ol' Flooded Mine, remember that? A lot of kissing went on in that thing!;)

I heard some local DJs talking about it this week. They said it tied with their fav, RNR, at WDW!! Must be a great ride!
I'm sure I'll be back to WDW beofre I head over to 'Dollyville'. They are trying some concept like FASTPASS this year but it isn't as efficent as FP and they make you pay for the service.

Dolly always says, "hold on to your hair!!!"

Not all that exciting. The first half of the ride is very uneventful and it whips you around a bit to rough (reminded me of Drachenfire at Busch Gardens - jerky to the point of painful).

However, once you re-enter the mine the fun starts. The first of two 90 degree climbs grabs your attention and the second adds some special effects via video and fire! Just think small scale Expedition Everest in terms of a themed roller coaster. Once you leave the enclosed area you enter two twisting turns that take you upside down and a less than fast space which is a rather exciting feeling. Most rides whip you upside down so fast you don't realize it - on Mystery Mine, YOU REALIZE IT!

However, this is not even my favorite ride at Dollywood. That honor goes to Thunderhead.

The ride could use some fine tuning to smooth it out and the audio needs to be turned up. Also, if they could modify the cars to allow riders in the second row to see the video screen and the flame sequence, that would help as well - you see very little from the second of two rows.

Don't expect any huge drops or high speeds. Coaster tops out around 45 mph from what the gate attendant told us. The keys to this coaster the 90 degree climb and 95 degree drops x2. Overall, a solid addition to Dollywood.
