I hit the Dollar Tree yesterday evening after reading in another thread that they have glow in the dark bracelets. Of course, I couldn't risk that they'd run out prior to our Sept. trip so I hustled right over!

In addition to the bracelets I got a Mickey change purse (kid size, with a zip closure), one of those large swirly lollipops wrapped in Mickey celophane, a couple Disney sticker packs, and a small spiral notebook with all the Disney pals. All told, I spent about US$10.00.

I'm planning to take these all with me so that when the Boy Wonder's "gimmes" start. I'll definintely get him something from the parks themselves, but these will certainly take the edge off of the souvenir bug. Plus, since we're going with Grammy and GrandDaddy it's not like he'll be hurting for treats!

What do *you* get and where do you get it to keep the souvenir bug away?

I pick up stuff all of the time for our Dis trips...thaks for the heads up on the change purse...I have to stop by and see what they have. do you know there is a big sale at the Disney Store?? tshirts for 3.99 and 5.99, some plush for 1.99, some 5.99, and lots of disney "trinkets" half off (like a small fan to cool yourself as you are waiting in line. I buy very few souveniers at the parks, I pick up most of our stuff ahead of time and ration it out. I try to get everyone in the family at least one or two nice new mickey t shirts to wear in the park instead of buying shirts there...

ohhh now I will have to go see if ours has the change purse too.

I got all my light sticks and rain poncho's there like 4 months ago lol I leave in Sept. Oh I also go our bottle straps there too.

I just went there last week for my July trip. I swear that place is amazing. I got the obligatory ponchos, a very small notebook for the WDW info, tons of hair accessories for DD, candy, and a bunch of other stuff I cant remember. I will probably go at least 1 more time before the 16th.

Sadly, our Disney store closed and the closest one is about an hour's drive away. With gas prices the way they are, I doubt I'd break even ;) I'll try online, though, and see what the ship fees are like.

I forgot we had a rain pancho - my mom bought it for my son on last year's trip. I'll have to dig that out.

I haven't gone to Dollar Tree much. Based on all you comments, looks like I'll have to go at least a couple times more before we head down.

If you guys have a DEALS (everything a dollar or less) in your area, hit it NOW!

One just opened in Lexington, KY last week and it is my new MECCA...I am not kidding. It is about half groceries, and half Dollar-store goods....

I had an amount of fun here second to only Disney, I think :teeth:

And they had LOTS of Disney items at great prices: hair ornaments, purses, candy, books, stickers, etc.

I, too, am stalking the Disney store for souvenirs, as well as any other place I can think of...last trip, I think I spent about $20-$30 on TONS of stuff I had gotten very cheap, and then rationed it thru the week as well...I think it is the very best plan for those with small children....my two girls NEVER BEGGED for one thing in any park, because they knew they'd get a surprise on their pillow from Mickey or Tinkerbelle....it was a blast for them and very cost-effective for me!! :hyper:

Where is the DEALS in Lexington KY?
I'm about an hour drive from Lexington and would love to check it out!!!
Thanks

If you know where Fayette Mall is, Deals is "catty-corner" -- in the Crossroads shopping center, behind where Darryl's USED to be (has been torn down)....Joann's Fabrics, Tuesday Morning, etc. are all in the same place: used to be ZANY BRAINY.

Hope this helps -- if you like cheap dollar stores, it IS WORTH A DRIVE!

Have fun! :bounce:

p.s. where are you coming in from?!

We have a "Disney Character Outlet" seasonally at the outlet center near our house. I have found the first day it opens the best deals are out. They also send us a 10% off e-mail announcing the store's opening date. I have gotten a lot of smaller cheap stuff there like note pads and hats and of course other things I shouldn't buy, but can't resist, like $8 sweatshirts. Most of our stuff is from Disneyland since we live in CA, but some of the stuff is generic Disney.
I also pick up stuff at Wal-Mart when I see a great deal on little items.
Hiding them from my little guy has become increasingly more challenging. Lately I have put stuff in an 18 gallon rubbermaid tote and putting it in the garage!

hookedup- do you live anywhere near Annaheim. We're going to DL next summer and am always looking for the Character Warehouse. I know there's one up on Harbor but they said that's a permanent one. We're looking for the ones that pop up every so often.

I love Dollar Tree's. They always have cute things and who can resist the price????

I'm addicted to the Disney Store and Dollar Tree. DH watch out, need more overtime this week if I go shopping again...(he's use to this by now). Whenever I tell him we went to the mall, he says "what did you get at the Disney Store?"
