Dollar Hire Cars as part of Virgin Package

Hi, we have booked a Dollar rental car as part of our Virgin Package and taken out the Silver Ins (I think, not the one that includes an additional driver and tank of petrol) We are going to fill up just before bringing the car back. Can anyone please tell me will they need to take a print of our credit card, and if so why?

I`ve read some reports that you have to leave credit card details but not sure under what circumstances.

according to my brother in law, he pays for a tank of petrol when he collects the car and then takes it back with an empty tank. apparently the prices are reasonable.

We have used dollar a few times over the last year and have never had to leave a credit cars imprint!!!

We have taken out both insurances, The one without the petrol and the one that gives you the tank of petrol included.

Rain, did you find it easy to fill up the tank on returning the car to the airport (the time you didn`t pay for everything)?

No problem at all filling the car up prior to returning the car, they did not even ask for a reciept, as long as the car looked reasonably full they were ok.

We have just come back from our holiday through virgin and also used dollar to hire a car. We didn't have to leave a credit card imprint and you also return the car empty of petrol. we had the platinum package (the one with the tank of petrol included).

We`ve booked the silver package, only cos we didn`t want the extra driver etc, but wonder if it would be worth changing over. Does anyone know if we changed would be have to pay amendment fees etc to the travel co, or would it be OK as is was just up grade on car insurance.

We too only originally had the silver package but decided to change a few months before we went - we only had to pay the price difference between the two types, no amendment fees.

Hi, did you do the amendment throught the travel co. you had booked with or direct via Virgin?

Through the travel agency who rang virgin themselves to confirm the difference in cost. Virgin will then send an amendment form to you via the travel agent.

Thanks Sheila, I`ve e`mailed TV Travel shop who we booked it through but as of yet they have not bothered to get back to me.
