Looking to book a car rental for last week in January, 2008.

For an intermediate car at Dollar rental, it is $133 base price with NO discount code.

However, if you add a discount code like KISS2 offered by Kissimmee/St.Cloud Convention bureau, the price soars to a base price of $189! That is an increase of 42%!!!

Why are discount codes making prices go up 42% at Dollar rental????

EDIT: and the price of a minivan goes up $80 if you use the discount code...

I use Dollar for most of our trips. And yes some times you will get a better Base price then with a Discount.

The discounts are set prices not percentages off .

So there regular prices at the time or a system wide sale could be much lower then the KISS2 or OCVB codes you mentioned.

Another thing is maybe the 2008 Discount codes is not out yet and it's bumping it up to the normal high price.

You just always have to try different things to see what gives you the best price and book that always check back as well as it will change day to day.

What prices are you seeing from the other companies I think $133 for a weekly Intermed is a great price
