Dole Whips!!

Now, I have never had a dolewhip at disneyworld but I did notice the other day when I was visiting my local "big dip" (and old fashioned ice cream stand where people just walk up/ride their bike to the window and order) that there was something called a "dole whip" on the menu... it is a mix of orange like flavored ice cream (but I don't think it's real ice cream!) and a vanilla soft serve ice cream ... and it's twisted and you get it on a cone or in a cup.

is this the same thing that everyone LOVES at disney???

There is an orange flavored thing at disney people like.. dole whip is pineapple though. And it IS an "icier" cream than normal ice cream..

That one by your ice cream place sounds good tho too!

Dole Whips come in other flavors than pineapple:

Available in seven delicious flavors: pineapple, orange, strawberry, raspberry, mango, as well as, vanilla and chocolate.

In July of 2006 we went on the Walk In Walt's Footsteps Tour at Disneyland- the tourguide told us at that time- there were only three places in the world to get Dole Whips- WDW- DL and Hawaii at the Dole plant.

In Adventureland at Aloha Isle and Captain Cook's at the Polynesian resort. Don't get your tastebuds too worked up, though. I found the Dole Whip to be rather bland, even in a float of pineapple juice.

The guide is incorrect. They're sold lots of places.

wow, what an interesting thread!! so am I right in assuming the "classic dolewhip" is the pineapple flavor? OOH, I guess it's DOLE because of DOLE pineapples right? DOH! I get it now...

I will try one on the 31st when I'm at the magic kingdom just to see what all the fuss is about and if it is indeed the same as the ones at the good ole "big dip" here in town. I have to double check and see if they have pineapple flavor at the big dip... what fun research though right?!

yeah, apparently the tourguide WAS wrong.. check this out (someone posted the top part of this already):

"Dole soft serve is proudly sold at Disneyland®, Walt Disney World® and the Dole® Plantation in Hawaii, as well as many other popular tourist destinations across the country. But any operator with a soft serve machine is encouraged to try Dole soft serve. "

awww man, that kinda ruins it for me if I know I can get one just down the street here in town .... I was hoping it was some special disneyworld treat that you couldn't find anywhere else. Maybe the fact that you're eating it IN disneyworld is what makes it taste so good though!

I know what you mean, I always thought that one of the best things about WDW is that I can get a Dole Whip. Well last year we went to our State Fair and they had a stand that sold pineapple swirled ice cream. They didn't call it a Dole Whip, but it sure did taste like one, even had the same consistency as the one in Adventureland. We are going to the State Fair again in a couple of weeks and I am going to make sure I get another one. I am kindof happy I don't have to wait every 2-3 years to get one, but then again it takes away the whole antisipation of finally getting one when we return.

They told us that too on one of our tours at Disney World and I believed them until my daughter got it in the Caf at her college!

My local ice cream spot has mango flavored dole whip which is even better than the pineapple flavor IMO.

The hospital where I used to work sold Dole Whips in their snack bar. This was mid to late 80's. Different flavors and wonderful! But I do get one on every WDW visit!
