Has anyone ever found Dole Whips outside of WDW or Hawaii? They're so delicious that I've often wondered why they don't open franchises around the country or actively sell to local ice cream/yogurt vendors. Does anyone have the scoop on Dole Whip?

From Wikopedia, and I love Dole Whips!! Added some vodka one day and it was even more delish :)

Dole Whip is a soft-serve frozen dessert available at individual ice-cream vendors all over the US and most notably at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Ala Moana Center Food Court in Honolulu (verified as of Nov 2009), Kahuna Dog (the beach location) located at the Hilton Hawaiian Village (this location is no longer open), Unified Enterprises Corp in Kaneohe and at Dole Plantation in Hawaii. It comes in the following flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Pineapple, Strawberry, Raspberry, Mango, Peach, and Orange. It is also available at Jumpin Jacks Drive In in Scotia, NY with flavors changing daily.

The dessert is a dry mix reconstituted with water and then frozen before serving--preservatives in the mix ensure a long shelf life and no insect/vermin infestations. [1]

This is not going to really help you but our Indiana State Fair has them and they are even better than we get in Disney so we were asking this year why that is and the vendor here uses fresh fruit and he said most use the concentrate mix as is so much easier to get. We like both and the banana:banana:

I made them at home once I found where to buy the same exact Dole powder mix used in the parks!

Here's what mine looked like!

You can buy the powder from somewhere in the lower-48. I think it's PA. I heard it on a podcast (not the DIS one) in the last month.

I love Dole Whips too - but it doesn't sound quite so appealing once you realise it's not made daily from freshly squeezed pineapples :lmao:

those look great! did you have a special machine ? how did you make them? also, where did you purchase the mix? thanks in advance!

I love getting them at the Dole Plantation on Oahu in Hawaii, those are the best :thumbsup2

Yes! A small, somewhat- rural ice cream shop opened 10 min from me in May. They alternate flavors weekly! Pineapple, Raspberry (my new fav!), orange, strawberry, and vanilla! They also make a layered dole whip on a stick, called a dole daisy!

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt in Orlando has it! It's not a daily thing, but we've had it there several times.

Hm, knowing it's made out of a powder makes me less excited to have it again. But it is interesting to see that it's fat free. Heh.

At The Chocolate Moose in Bloomington, Indiana.

But, honestly, if you're going to the Chocolate Moose, don't get Dole Whip - get the Moose Chocolate or Grasshopper home made ice cream.

I went to the Indiana State Fair for the first time this year. I had heard they may have dole whips there, so whenever I found the big, inflatable pineapple, I was sooo excited! It was nice to have a taste of Disney at home :)

We make them at home all the time.. and never use powder.. We just google "Dole Whip Recipe" when the mood strikes us and we use like pineapple juice, pineapples and milk I think. DH makes it but I know he got the recipe from the internet!
