Good job! That is QUITE a chore!!! Been doing Girl Scout (and Cub Scout) stuff today too...planning for the upcoming year, typing newsletters, making phone calls and going to leaders meetings...phew, I'm tired already (but lovin it!;) It does make ya feel alive doesn't it? Keep on dancin!:teeth: :teeth:

Great to have you dancin' next to me!!! Someday I'll tell you how I inherited this troop, but long story short, I'm loving this!!! Next year I'll have a Junior and DAISY troop!!! Plus going to be a TSD. Hubby totally supports this (unlike other stuff  ) making it extra fun!!!

May be hitting you up for bridging advice this year!!!

still dancing....all the way to the copy store tomorrow :smooth:

Jennifer, I would love to hear your stories and any help you need with bridging just say the word! Us leaders have to stick together! There are some awesome leaders on this board...I have gottne some great tips! There is nothing like having your dh support you in your scouting efforts. With all the time we spend doing it, it would be tough if they resented it or didn't understand. I've seen that happen. I have converted DH...he is the leader of ds's Cub den and I am his "lovely assistant"! He is getting as enthusiastic about scouting as I am...this is truly a "scouting" home! That is a very good thing to be!

Hey jldriscoll, glad that you have accomplished so much in one day. Girl Scouts are lot of fun once you get all the paper work out of the way. Don't wiggle too much in that hula skirt, it might fall down.

Hi there... I am a DH with a 10 year old Junior GS DD. I am also an assitant leader to her troop. I am always on the look out for activities that will help my daughter (and her classmates) get credit toward her GS badges.

Right now, as we preparing for our Oct. 3rd trip, I am trolling for things in the badge book that we have to do to get ready for the trip.

First on the hit list is the "Walking for Fitness" badge... since our trips to WDW are pretty darn close to several all-day hikes strung together. So I am having her plan what first aid items we will need to take in our backpack: band-aids, mole skin, sunscreen, hand cleaning gel, water, etc. Also plan what kind of food to take: gorp, power bars, etc. This afternoon we are going to get me some new shoes for the trip, and have her talk to the sales person about what makes a good walking shoe. These items get us half-way to a badge.

Anyway, what I wanted to ask is if anybody has a list (either mental or written) of activities at WDW that match up directly with Jr. badge activities?

Thanks!

I don't, but I'd love to hear some ideas!! (my girls are still Brownies) I would suggest starting a new thread with this question! There are a lot of GS leaders here and I bet they have some supper ideas!!!!

Hey fan-of-wdw!!! Glad to have a dh leader!!! Gosh there is soooo mucha t disney that you can incorporate into badge work!! Disney actually does programs for scouts and I bet they would give you some ideas too. What about earning part of a nutrition badge at Epcot touring "The land"? They give tours of a hydroponic garden and there is a show called "Food rocks". There is a wealth of info to put towards an ecology badge too, here and at "The Universe of Energy". How about the "Water Wonders" badge and "The Living Seas"...bet you could completely earn that badge there.
My suggestion would be to pull out Birnbaum's guidebook and the Junior badge book , make a cup of coffee and have some fun comparing! I was surprised myself at how much they sync! My Juniors just got back from Savannah and we talked about our next trip as a troop....they want Disney World!! I wasn't surprised!:p Looking at this for you made me see how much there is for them there besides Mickey Mouse!
Hey! What about a sports badge at Wide World of Sports? Lol! This is fun!! Going to make my coffee now!!:teeth:

I'll be dancing NEXT WEEK!!!! Right now I am planning camping this weekend for my 3rd yr Jrs. It is our first time on our own as far as camping goes. You should have seen what they picked to EAT, bleech. We are adding to the menu because I don't want to starve to death! Please give me Pixie Dust, ;) .

Lots of camping pixie dust to you!!!!

Well, I'm not a Girl Scout leader but I used to be a Girl Scout. Aren't there any international type badges that you might be able to do some of the work on in World Showcase?

ohh, good one honeywolf, you should post that over on fan_of_wdw's new thread!!!
