We are travelling to SoCal this weekend to accompany dh on a bus trip. I have an extra day to kill while he's in meetings. I'm trying to psych myself into taking my 3 girls to DL for the day. We've been to DW several times, but always with dh. We are staying in Long Beach, so I'm guessing that's about a 30 min drive or should I plan on longer?

My girls are 2,7,10. My concern is that my older 2 will want to ride things that the little one can't. Can I wait in line with the older 2 & then just step aside to the exit, so I'm there when they get off? We are going next Tues, so I don't think the crowds will be that bad, but I'm not comfortable having the older 2 wait in line by themselves.

TIA!

Yes it's called child switch. Let the older girls ride then when they get off, you can ride and have your older girls watch the baby while you ride. (assuming you let the older girl watch the younger)

Thanks! I had forgotten about the child switch. I probably won't ride, though. I'm not real comfortable leaving the 10 & 2 yo alone while I'm on the ride. I know my 10yo is more than capable. I just have a hard time letting my kids out of my sight.

Totally know how you feel about that. We are doing AP's this year, and since dh will be deployed the better part of the year, I will be taking my kids (8, 3, little bit) to disney while he is gone to get the most use out of our passes. And while it is something to do while he is away and gives us time "away from it all", I worry about rides and stuff by themselves. Our plan will mainly be to do the shows and cool stuff that aren't really dh's thing and to bring Grandma, Auntie and anyone else who wants to come along with us through the year, but when that's not possbile, we'll ride what we can together and then go from there.

It's good to know about child switch! Enjoy your trip!

This might just be my experience, but with the child switch (baby swap as I call it) at DLR, they make you do it OUTside the line. We haven't been able to take the kiddo into the queue at all.

Any chance of bringing along a friend? :)

awww, my first double-post thanks to the boards being floopy. darned "database errors"!

Unfortunately, I can't take anyone else with me. We are flying from PA. I've already told my girls that they may not be able to ride certain things if I can't wait in line with them. So, we'll see how it goes.

There are still a lot of rides you can go on with your 2-year old. My son is 2.5 and the only ride that he's been on so far that really scared him was the Roger Rabbit one in ToonTown. He was a little confused by Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, but then again, so was I. ;)

He LOVED the Astro Orbitor rocket ride in Tomorrowland!

Have fun!

My ds hated the Winnie the Pooh ride he was 2 at the time. But, I can't say I was incredibly fond of it either, does anyone else think that thing is just too dang loud? I think it hurt his ears more than scared him.
