Doin' The Upgrade Dance!!!!

I don't recall exactly how far in advance the doc's came last time, but it was not close enough to be a problem. My two DCL cruises this year are each through TA's, so we'll see if that makes a difference. I do know that I got both a phone call and an email from the TA to let me know about the upgrade, so they do know I am alive and waiting.

Do make sure to completely fill out Doc's in advance, it will seriously speed up check-in.

Congrats on the upgrade, that is awesome!!

It seems like the Wonder gives the most upgrades!! I have sailed on the Magic twice and the Wonder once. I only got an upgrade on the WOnder. The magic even had lots of open rooms, b/c I checked when we arrived, they would only sell us one, no freebies.

We are sailing on the Jan. 16th Wonder. Couldn't take the suspense any more so I called DCL last night to find out if we'd been assigned a stateroom (we booked Cat 12 GTY in July). He said we'd be in 2102 - a Cat 9 room!!!

Anyone have anything to say about this area of the ship?

We also received an upgrade from a Cat 12 GTY to a Cat 9, room 2116. I've never stayed on deck 2, but I'll happily try it!

Please let me know what you think about that room and its location... I am in 2034 in May of '06 (hoping for an upgrade...)- my biggest concern is the proximity to the elevators- which your room and mine are in the same locations at opposite ends of the ship. (Elevators and stair landings tend to be noisy places...)

In terms of staying on Deck 2... better to be in 'steerage' (as an earlier poster called it) than standing on shore waving when the ship pulls away from the dock!!!! Mooooooo!

We are still eagerly awaiting our docs, but I when I called to make a change, I was informed we were upgraded from 2 cat 12's to 2 cat 10's, one with a window, so we were very happy. This is for the 1/13 Wonder, starting to pack!

Getting from a 12 to a 10 is huge--you've now got the split baths, the same basic interior layout and square footage as every other category up through Cat. 5, so congrats. And you said one of the 10's has a window--meaning you got upgraded into a SPH? Wow, that is terrific.

We've stayed near the elevators on deck 6 twice before, and it wasn't bad at all. In fact, we booked near the elevators after being there the first time. The convenience more than made up for the extra traffic we heard. Only a couple of times did we hear some kids playing on the elevators.

I'm surprised we weren't upgraded on Jan. 9th. It doesn't look like it's a very busy time. I'm happy with my Cat 6 though.
BTW, I received my Docs for the Jan. 9th sailing around Dec. 17th.

We also got an upgrade on our 1/16 cruise from 2 cat 12's to 2 cat 9's connecting like we requested!

We got an upgrade for 1/8/05 cruise from cat. 6 to a cat.4.........needless to say were doing the happy dance :jumping4:

We also recieved an upgrade for the Wonder 4 day on Jan 20. We booked a Cat 12 and we were upgraded to a cat 9. I was very happy since this is our first cruise and was worried that the cabin would be to small.

Cinderalex - is that Jan 20 of 2005? That is a 3 night cruise is it not? We are on the Jan 23 Wonder and it is 4 nights.

Congrats on your upgrade though! We are in 9's right now and that is likely where we will stay!

Happy sailing and this will be our first cruise too.

2 connecting Cat 9's on Deck 2.

We also arrive in Florida on Jan 21 - lets hope the warm weather stays!

Just got off the 1/6 Wonder where we were upgraded to a cat 10 on deck 2. Deck 2 was fine, but our room was quite noisy. We were in 2116 which was under the hallway to Parrot Cay. It was very quite until people started coming to breakfast in the morning, and then it sounded like people were running. I'm not complaining because it was free upgrade, and the noise was not so bad that we couldn't sleep at night. There was some engine noise, but nothing terribly loud.
