Doin' The Upgrade Dance!!!!

Booked The Wonder 1/16/05 as a cat. 8 GTY. Love Cat. 8's, have been in Cat. 8's 2 prev. DCL cruises and also booked on 4/2/05 in a cat. 8. Was assinged a stateroom number a week or so later. Very happy. Then today, 30 days from embarkation, got a new confirmation showing us in #7132 on the Wonder, Cat. 5 verandah. Birthday present came three days early apparently, or Chanukah present came 2 days late, either way, not going to tell DW and DS until we open the stateroom door! (She's not such a nerd as me that she would know based on where we were in the hallway that the cat. 8's are only up front). So long as the Bon Voyage Champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries indeed moved to 7132 with us, it should be a fun fun door opening!

Now--I am also psyched because I really like Deck 7 and am glad that we got to stay on deck 7. Anyone ever get an upgrade that ended up being "less" desireable in some ways?

We have never been so lucky to have an upgrade, but wanted to let you know that this was one of our cabins on the Magic in September, and we loved, loved, loved this room. Very quick, well located......

Congrats on the upgrade!!! We also received an unexpected upgrade on our Wonder sailing for 1/6/05!!!

We had booked two Cat 9's on Deck 2 next to each other and had assigned staterooms and then I checked our ressie online two weeks ago and found out we were upgraded to two Cat 6 veranda's on Deck 6...still next to each other!!!

I just wanted to add that my friend is on the Wonder right now and she got upgraded from inside to verandah. When she booked (not too long ago) she was given "GTY". So I think that must help your chances of getting an upgrade!

Although 2 weeks ago I called to have my excursions confirmation faxed to me and we still have our original rooms. Oh well, that is why I went with 9's to make sure I had natural light.

Yes, we also book Cat 9's because we love the natural light and the Cat 9's are quite nice.....but we love the upgrade to verandah!!! Anyway we had cabins 2058 and 2060 on Deck 2 and were upgraded to 6624 and 6626 on Deck 6. We only booked in October. We did receive upgrades before but they were on GTY status cabins.

Good luck...I wish pixie dust on you for an upgrade for your cruise!!!

I'm sure this has been done elsewhere--any comments on likes or dislikes, experiences with either or both? Turns out our Upgrade location is a solid walled Cat. 5--My question is will that make it harder to see much without going outside? Still exciting and fun in any event.

We are doing the land/sea 1/9/05-1/16/05 and haven't gotten any paperwork other than our faxed confirmations when I paid. I called yesterday and the rep said that they usually send them out 2 weeks to 10 days before departure. Is that what you have experienced? I really thought I'd have something before then. Its less than a month until the trip??
