Friday August 6, 2004 Can U believe Day 2
Thank goodness we had the forethought to all pack an overnight bag for Atlanta, this made our trip so much easier. By 9:30am we were heading to Pop Century. We stopped on exit 101 for gas. The Moores decided to sign up for a Timeshare presentation for Orange Lake Resorts (on 192) on Saturday morning for 2 adult and 1 childs 4-day hopper passes for $385. Can U believe? No over exaggeration!!!! $385 again Can U believe? These tickets do expire 14 days after the first use, but they had every intention on going for 4 days. The Hobbs signed up just because they offered $100 so did David and I. Both the Hobbs and myself already had our tickets and since we had time to kill between our check out at Pop and check in at our rental house we went for it!!!! Hopefully this will not be a regret. We arrive at Disney around 4:30pm. Ive seen so many pictures of Pop and read so much - nothing was a surprise. The resort was cute at best. It was soooooo hot outside!!!!! We went to the lobby to find a very long line, but I will admit they were fast. We get to desk and it takes a few minutes to separate my reservations with the Hobbs (I reserved their room). They wanted the reservations separate so they could put up their credit card up for room charges. I asked for Tyler (from the Pop disboards) and was told he transferred back to driving buses. They gave us directions to our room. We were placed in the 70s area in building B. I dont know about others who have stayed here but this building was very close to the main building. It was so close if I stay there again I wouldnt pay an additional $10 a day for a "perferred" building. Its just not worth it. And to be honest none of the buildings were far at all. The Moores had room 334, the Hobbs 335, and finally us in 336. Guess what? None of my and DH room keys work. I politely knocked next door to the Hobbs and ask to use their phone. I called the front desk and told them the situation, do you want to know what they said, We will send a runner up in 30 45 minutes or you can come back down to get a new set of keys. This has to be a joke, Ashton Kutcher was going to jump out the bathroom to tell me Ive been punked, because if they think we are walking anywhere in this heat they had another thing coming. After sitting on the Melissas and Chris room for like what seemed like hours (okay like 5 minutes) DH and I decide to go down to the front desk. I know I just wrote that the main building wasnt far, but it seemed like a far walk for some keys we thought we already had.
Anyway, before we could get down the hall David spots a maintenance guy. David explains the situation and asks if he could open the door and we will wait for the runner to bring our keys. The maintenance guy asks to see our keys and he goes to the door as if we are idiots and cant use a room card. Guess what I guess he was an idiot too because he couldnt make it work either. The maintenance guy radio in the room key situation and tells us someone will be up shortly. David asks the guy can he let us in the room. He said, no, not for security reasons. David said, well, cant you radio in who is staying in this room and we show you ID. The guy takes our ID goes around the corner and radio in the situation I guess!!! A minute or two later he returns and lets us in!!!! Finally!!! The room was larger than I imagined. Dont get me wrong this is the smallest hotel room Ive ever seen, but larger than I thought. We wash up/shower and start to explore the resort then make our way to Everything Pop Food Court. The food court had a variety of food and even something for those vegetarians that werent on the list at allearsnet. David had 2 vegetarian lasagnas, 2 veggie soups, a huge brownie sundae, tye dye cheesecake and lemonade (I used 2 vouchers). Jamilah and I shared a chicken and fries basket with a soda, cheese fries, and a brownie sundae ( 1 Q & C voucher). David said the lasagnas were the best he ever had. Should I be offended by that comment, because Vegetarian lasagna a specialty of mine?
The Hobbs (also vegetarians but eat fish) had a little bit of everything including some very good Salmon according to Chris. Tammy (7 ½ months pregnant) did not like anything and is craving Trix. You read correctly cereal you know the cereal made for kids. The resort does have cereal, but she needs lactose free milk. She is soooo pregnant!!! Can U believe!!! After dinner we catch the wishes fire works until it starts to rain and we head to bed. Tomorrows Plan: MGM for early entry and Animal Kingdom.
