My sister just IM'd me saying 'I can't believe you let mum paint your room brown'

I was like HUH!??!! I knew that my mum was moving some stuff around in my room while I was away at college, but she hadn't mentioned painting it.

I was so angry! I couldn't believe she'd paint my room without asking, let alone brown!

Just as I was ranting and raving about how angry I was...the phone rang, it was my mum and sister laughing their heads off at how gullible I am! They were lying to see how angry they could make me! :rotfl:

If you are a senior in college, aren't you past having control over a room in your parent's house? I would think they could do what they wanted with their home.

Well I still live there outside of college time and I'm moving back home soon. Hopefully I'll save up enough to move out asap, but meanwhile they've not yet reclaimed the room back.
Maybe it works different in the UK to the US?

::yes:: This is how it usually works in the UK - after Uni, students often move back home until they have enough money to leave.
I'm in my final year of Uni and I'm still living at home - I don't need to live on/near campus because it's my 'local' Uni.

My dd is 20 and still living at home while going to Ohio State University.
So, I know what you are talking about!
She probably won't leave for a couple years. As long as she helps out around here, I don't have a problem with it.

I have the same situation as your Mom. One daughter living at college. I fully intend to paint her room this spring. Not brown of course. I'm not asking permission. She's a grad student and has her own apartment. And it is my house!

Be glad she didn't do it, but if she did, it is her home and her right to paint it anyway she wants

Funnily enough I was actually starting to come round to the idea just as they called to tell me they were kidding!
