Doggy Surgery

My dog Oreo is having surgery today to remove a tumor from her toe. She is actually having most of the toe removed. Has anyone had any experience with this type of surgery on their pet? I am curious as to the recovery time and how well she will be able to manuever. I know that I can ask the vet when I pick her up but I am still curious until then. aw:

I don't handle things like this very well, so if you believe in prayer, send one our way. Thanks!

Thanks for the prayers. They worked! Oreo is out of surgery and is doing fine. We will pick her up later.

Glad to hear Oreo is doing good. Our dog had a tumor removed from his hip 2 years ago. Once he got over being nocked out, he was just fine.

I hope all went well for Oreo. My dogs have never had that procedure done so I dont have any advise....just saying a prayer for a good outcome

Prayers for Oreo. Make sure they send the tumor off to the pathologist for analysis. One of my pugs had a cyst removed from her underarm in Feb. It was mast cell grade 2. We are watching her closely but she has recovered wonderfully.

Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers. Oreo is recovering well although she is very unhappy about the bootie she has to wear. It is a cute little purple cast-like thing. The other pup, Coral, keeps sniffing at it and quite possibly making fun of her in her own little dog way. Everything worked out well and yes they are sending the tumor to a pathologist. Anyway, thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers. She is doing great!

In my experience dogs recover from surgery much easier than people do. Not sure why, but they do. I'm sure Oreo will be back to his old self in no time and you'll hardly notice a difference in him. Hope the pathology comes back ok. Scratches to him for us. aw:

I hope that Oreo is doing well today! Animals seem to recover more quickly from surgery than humans do. I hope that the tumor turns out to be benign, also.
