Dog Owners and Families! We Need Your Help! Better Pictures Added - post #36

Here's mine:
Mac, Male Scottish Terrier: 16" (30 lbs. -- ungroomed and furry neck.)
Tipper, Female Scottish Terrier: 15" (30 lbs. -- neck shaved last week.)
--I used a string wrapped around their current collars to get these measurements.

My Scotties are about 5-6 lbs. over breed standard. Scotties, Westies and Schnauzers are groomed with their necks shaved close to the body so their neck size can vary with their hair growth. Good luck.

My 75 lb. golden measured in at 21". Sounds like great collars.

My guys are all Samoyeds.

Male (52ish lbs) - 21 1/2
female(53 lobs) - 2o
2 females (both around 45-46 lbs) - 18

One thing to note on a double coated breed is that the under coat "blows" twice a year and the neck size changes due to the difference in coat thickness.

Good luck!!

Oh my! I have a MALE dog with a 7 3/4 inch neck....but he's no wuss! He's a small Toy Poodle who weighs a whopping 5 pounds now. Has recently discovered "table food" and has become a bit "porky". ::yes:: :teeth:

Like the mother who swears sugary and junk foods will never pass her children's lips, I swore Petey would never know the taste of people food. :rotfl2: It started out innocently using cheese bits as a training reward. Then I started feeding him bits of leftover meat. I learned he LOVES Reeses Pieces. Now he's a fat little begger. It's much easier to stay the course than to try to get your little begger off people food!

I have a miniature schnauzer (whose on the big side, often gets mistaken for a really little standard:) )

Anyway, he's about 19 lbs, and wears 14 or 16--for halters and stuff, he's somewhere between small and medium

Jessie (about 65 lbs./ lab mix) wears a 19" leather collar.

:paw: Good luck!

Thanks for everyone's help! This is great! Keep it coming :)

For those in VA interested - it's the Pet Expo. It's on Saturday, Feb. 18th. I think it's 10-4. Of course animals are welcome to come too. There is a small entrance fee which goes to the Henrico Humane Society. There will be a ton of different vendors, shows, animals for adoption. We took 3 of our dogs last year and Reilly and Hailey loved it. Tinker just pooped. (she's a wuss! :rotfl: )

Maybe we could set up a mini DIS meet at our booth!! The highlight being the "seperated at birth" first meeting of Reilly and Petey :teeth:

Mabel is a Weimaraner (10 months old)-weighs 73# and just bought a new collar for her.....20 inch

I'll have to measure Tia when I get home, but might I suggest making HARNESSES along with collars? My girl is a pug, which means her neck is bigger than her head and she MUST wear a harness as she slips right out of a regular collar. I'm harping on Disney right now to make harnesses, too, as I love all the cute doggie collars they make. I just can't use them!

My German Shepherds' collars have been 22"-26" depeding on their size - female (in siggie) is 70lbs, wears 22"; larger female (with thicker fur) was 106lbs, wore 26"; males have run between 88-95 lbs, generally 24".

(BTW, Liesl might like a nice beaded collar ;) can we see pictures?) :flower:

I tried to take a quick picture of a handful of collars to show you guys what Lauri does but the pictures turned out horrible. The flash reflected off of the nylon and the beads and made a terrible glare and when you go without the flash its dark and fuzzy. Here is a bad picture for now, I'll have to set something up with better lighting so you guys can see them better. She actually has made over 300 of these, herself, by hand. She does the beading as a seperate piece, like she was doing jewelry. Then she hand stitches it to the collars with monofilament so that way if the dog outgrows the collar or the collar wears out, you just snip the threads in the back and the beading can be added to their new collar. She is looking into something with leashes and harnesses next. :) Like I said, the quality of the picture doesn't do them justice and makes the colors look all funky. I'll get something better hopefully tonight.

Edited to add.. ignore this picture, there are better ones a few posts down :)

Okay, here are the PUG measurements!

Tia weighs 26 pounds, which is normal according to our vet. Her neck is 17 1/2 inches and her chest (where the other section of harness goes around) is 23 inches.

We have 1 mini doxie, 7 pounds, that was 9" (maybe could have gone to 8" but she was wiggly). And we have a 61 pound, hound/chow mix that measured 18". Hope that helps. I haven't read past your initial post, but does she have a web site where we could look at the collars?

Okay, just saw where you posted pictures. Even for in your words "bad pictures", those are really cute. I'm all for supporting Disers. How much? I know you've got your hands full right now with the expo, but I'm patient. I may like to have one for our doxie. :dog:

Okay, let's see if these pictures are a little better Still hard to see the beads, but I guess you guys get the idea of what they look like. :)

The 18th it is! Petey, Dh and I will be there! Don't forget to pm me and let me know a booth number.

Sounds great! Looking forward to seeing you there. :)

I'll be sure to wear my DIS green polo shirt. Just look for me holding a Petey lookalike who's acting like he's in charge of the whole joint. :teeth:

Bumping up for more collar sizes and for any other VA DISers that want to join in on a DIS Pet meet!

Didn't see any other Boxers on the above posts so here's their measurements: My male weighs about 85 lbs and needs a 22" and my female weighs about 90 and wears a 23" collar.

Good luck!
