We have a 65 pound lab/springer spaniel mix pound puppy (he was little when we first got him.)

We have 2 rough collies, too, but ours are sable and white. They have such great personalities! My collie-kids are 9 y.o. Malcolm and 4 y.o. Kaeleigh.

Aren't collies just the sweetest dogs? Mine are 9yr old Megan and 2 yr old Tess.

I'm sorry, but I had to reread the question. I have never owned a dog. I have been blessed enough to be adopted by some and crazy enough to share my home with others. Ownership,-- never happen.

Right now my family and I cohabitate with a 10 year old German Shepherd who treats us all like her puppies. She has been Shepherding us from room-to-room, since the day she permitted us to bring her home. My 17 year old Shih Tsu is the master of all that he surveys. He "barks" the orders and we jump. I really feel dogs are not owned, they are simply loved.

3. a border collie (can u say psycho? ) that was headed to a kill shelter named Xena

Luckily we have horses for Xena to chase or she would really be insane.

Sydney (named after Alias's Sydney) is a 1 1/2. She is the sweetest dog ever but definitely not the smartest

I have 2 - a Lhasa Apso cross (with a terrier of some sort), and a German Shepherd. Love them both to death - even when they don't get on!!

We have a 6 year old Kelpie named Gus. He's smart and the apple of my DH's eye. My Dh has gotten poison ivy 4 times this summer as he is creating a little home agility course for the dog in our wild and wooly backyard. That's true love (for the dog!)

Mom to a 18 month old yellow lab named Jetta who like dd insists on sleeping with me(and the cat Gabriel) every night!! She loves us and worships us with dead chipmunks from time to time(don't tell Chip and Dale!!)

We have a Bouvier des Flandres named Atlas who is generally very mopey. His main job is to make sure the carpet doesn't fly up into outerspace. He also protects us from wayward cars. Both times that I was pregnant, he went into protective overdrive. He wouldn't let anyone get anywhere near either of us. He almost shoved our appliance repair guy down our basement steps (he jumped up at him and missed him by centimeters). Funny dog, considering most of the time he operates with the disdain of a large cat. He got fat after the babies were born because we didn't have as much time to walk him (dropped down to one walk a day) and he basically parked himself under the high chair to scoop up any unwanted baby food. We have him on diet food now. He "one-upped" us by refusing to eat all of the paltry amount of food we put in his bowl... he always leaves a few kibbles. This gives him more to mope about.

Two golden retrievers - an 11 year old golden male and a 1 year old pale female presently sleeping on my bed preventing me from stretching out! Friends call the male the king of dogs - he is just so funny and well behaved and polite. the female is completely not that - oh she can behave, but she is just so joyous and pushy and wants everything the male has - and he just gives it to her. She has eaten all his toys - things he has had for years. But she is the sweetest of the two dogs.
