I just wanted to agree with some of the others - first off I am sure that this has been hard for you but I just feel that what others are having a hard time with is the hastiness of your decision. There are SO many resources available to help dogs like this, rescue organizations, behaviorists, and even finding a new owner. Maybe he was a dog that needed to be in a "single dog household" or in a different living environment. I think for the animal lovers who are posting here it's difficult to hear things like this. I have a dog and two cats and know that I would do what it took to try and work out the situation before I even considered euthanasia. And you mention the rabies shot is only 1 month late. That's still late - and for reasons just like that you shouldn't allow animals shots to lapse. I also second those who said neutering the dog could have done wonders for the aggression. I'd also consider another vet - I'd be concerned about a vet that would that quickly put down an animal without exploring other options.

my dd unfortunalty read this post .we live in a very small town , she is some what protected from out spoken people who only choose to answer a post to hurt not to offer advise pro or con . in a tasteful unjudgemental way , guess she learned her lesson too she thanks you for opening her eyes she will pray for your unleashed lips, . to those who let me know thier opinon in an constructive way thanks , we prayed on this made a choice , and its over .

I have really been good at staying out of this with my opinions....BUT...you came here and asked a bunch of strangers for their opinions, don't get mad now that they have given them to you and there were some that you didn't like.

Your DD is 17, if she has lived that much of a sheltered life that she doesn't realize that not everyone has the same thoughts, then maybe it was a good thing she has learned this lesson before going out into the "real world"

And PS, I would rather you and your DD not "pray for my unleashed lips" thank you very much.

I just read this thread and wasn't going to post until I read her final post and was compelled to do so.

Call it what you want, but I'm entitled to post if I want to.

and by you posting a response to me, all you did was bump it back up to the top of page one...so you are as much to blame I guess.

i have to put people first , we are BIG animal lovers , my other dogs have never behaved in this way noi matter how they were provoked. it was a HARD CHOICE . but i couldnt live with the what if's we said our good byes .. and now he is gone i know many here will think i am heartless and your intitled but God willing let ut family heal in piece

Sorry about the whole thing. I know it is hard for people to understand what is going on in your shoes.
