Doesn't hurt to recheck your National rates.

It has become a habit. I rechecked rates for my 11/29 to 12/3 trip a few minutes ago and secured a new reservation for about $18 less than my prior reservation. I've done this a few times now and I've saved quite a bit from the first to this last reservation. If this isn't one of your habits, you might want to make it one. You must, however, REMEMBER to CANCEL the old reservation(s).

This works with other car rentals also. I rented from a different agency last March for about $300. Checking later down the road, I saw that the same vehicle for the same time was about $118. I called the number on my reservation page, mentioned that the net was quoting the lower fare and was told they would change my fare in the computer. We didn't have any trouble when we picked up the car. Like Sandi said, it really pays to keep checking.

I just rechecked my National January rates. WAY up over what I booked a couple of months ago. I'll keep what I have. I do check every week or so.

When you do this, be sure and do a totally new ressie search. What I mean is, don't call up your old reservation. For some stupid reason, it will change on you. And keep your documention.
