Does your local grocery store offer a free turkey for spending a certain amount?

The ones around here used to. Now we get discounts on gasoline.

DH gets one free thru work.. and yes some stores around me do the "free" turkey as well.. but its not really "free" we are paying for it other ways! I do most of my shopping at the farmers market. For fruits and veggies you can't beat their prices and they have a WONDERFUL meat stand! Fresh meat at GOOD prices! I mostly get canned and boxed stuff at walmart.

Yes our stores do it. I have my coupon for my turkey in my wallet.

Wegmans stopped doing this a while ago. They do offer very cheap pricing on turkeys (I think last year was 49 cents per pound) They also do the cheap priced ham at Easter. There are no limits on how many you can buy at that price either, like with the free turneky/ham promotions you can usually only get 1. Plus, it is usually with a 25.00 purchase BUT the original price of the turkey/ham is included in that 25.00 price, so if you get a turkey prices at 22.00 all you would need to spend is 3.00 to get lots of money off your turkey.

I "earned" a free turkey from a local store once. It was for a brand that I don't normally buy. No one in the family liked it. So, now I shop the sales at different stores and gladly pay for my turkey of choice.

Our store does this. They have for years. And with the amount of money we spend at the grocery store, we easily get a couple every year. We use the one we want, then freeze the others to use later in the year. Long after the holidays though because by the time new years rolls around, we are turkeyed out.
