Does your husband call you by your first name or does he use a term of endearment?

We call each other by name.

Sometimes we are silly and say "hey babe" like the gum-smacking couple from Saturday Night Live (not sure if they've had any scenes the last year or two).

Although I will use nicknames with people who don't mind them, I personally dislike most of them when used at me (Mol is acceptable, "honey" is not, etc) and have even when my mom was using them. If someone calls me honey, I will say "drip drip drip" like honey is dripping..."dear" gets antlers...etc. Just don't like it!

And yet...I call my son "pickle" and "scoobydoo" and "scoobs" and all sorts of weird things. :confused3 Sometimes I call DS "Mike" because that's a nice normal usual name, unlike his actual name of "Eamon", which I get tired of sometimes (sad but true). But I usually only use that when he is NOT responding to his name, and he'll turn around with "Mike".

Because DH only calls me by my name, and I do NOT use 3rd person when talking to children, our son never heard any title for me. So after he was done calling me "milk" (he would sign or say milk, and only I would ever come running!), he went straight to "Molly". Hubby grew up with his parents calling each other "mama" and "daddy" and it skeeved him quite a bit (also called each other "yoboya", a Korean endearment), so that was NOT going to happen in the house. I will refer to DH as "Papa" to DS, but only in proper context...and I use Robert more than half the time when talking about DH to DS, so...

Long story short, except when being exceptionally silly, we use our names.

My name is Joan and my husband calls me that, but more often JoJo. His name is Gordon, and I usually call him Go.

DH only calls me Amy rarely--the other day, I was in another part of the house and he was trying to find me and called out, "Amy!" Otherwise, it's "Sweet Pea" mostly. When speaking of me to coworkers, he refers to me as "the missus."

I love his name so I tend to call him that fairly often but also use "honey" which confuses the dog, "Sunny." :lmao:

This is a great thread--lol at some of the responses.

As for me, I usually call DW honey or her name with a Y on the end. Actually my family has a habit of doing that. It started with my Italian immigrant grandparents who put a Y or -ie at the end of all our names when referring or greeting us (even the names that just don't cut it...Pauly, Joey and Bobby were okay but Marlene-y or Petey?). lol. It was always endearing and made me <grin>. Now I do this with my own children. My oldest is 26 and I still refer to him as Blakey...lol.

He refers to me by my first name when talking to others but usually we call each other cute names! He usually calls me by my first name when he wants to talk about something serious,

I don't think I have ever heard him use my name.... Honey usually. He says "my wife" when he is talking to someone else about me.
I use his name when talking to others, but usually it is Honey when I call him or want to get his attention.

DH shortens my name to Les (pronounced Lez). Sometimes he calls me Dear or Hon or Sweetheart. Lately, he has taken to calling me Ditz. :rotfl: DD gets called Ditz Jr. Yeah, if the name fits.......

I am the queen of the nicknames. I have nicknames for everyone. Sometimes I call him Steve but mostly Stevie or Beve (my niece couldn't pronounce Steve when she was a baby and it stuck) or Yo Big Daddy or Manly Man.

Somehow I've morphed into being called "mom" -- it is the weirdest thing ever because my parents always called each other "mom"/"dad" and even as a kid I thought it was totally weird.

It didn't happen after the first couple of kids but add a few more on and well....here we are. It doesn't bother me, I just find it funny.

I rarely call him dad though. Usually his first name. I suppose it's better than "Hey you" although I'm sure I've probably answered to that too.

He calls me a shortened version of my first name, that only my really close friends and family do (my name is Laurie, he calls me 'Lau'). I can't remember the last time he used my whole first name. Otherwise, he calls me Sweets.

My Name is lauren as a kid I was called Laurie, My husband also calls me Lau.

My name is Lauren so my husband calls me Laur a lot..... He does use other terms of endearment, but nothing exclusively.

Gee - my boyfriend calls me Turkey or Frog. Wonder what that means? :lmao:

I know it's his "term of endearment" but it does drive me crazy.

My husband has a very silly name for me that he would never say in public. So, when we're out it's my real name only.

My Dad called my Mom "Beauty" until the day he died. Best nickname ever.

When I answer the phone I hear, "How's my darlin' Bird?":goodvibes

He usually will use Hon or Honey in addition to my first name. I usually call him by his first name, but I also use Honey and Sweetheart. When we are just cuddling, I'll call him my "cuddle bunny".

If you would have asked this question yesterday, my answer would have included a bunch of @#*&*(%&)^(*^ :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

But today we're back to "babe"

Usually a short form of my first name or Baby. I don't know that he's ever used my whole first name.

DH and I always call each other Sweetie, always have for over 20 years. Even when we're mad at the other.
