does your health insurance pay for allergy shots?

and what kind of insurance? I'm just finding out that our insurance isn't as good as we had hoped.....

Our insurance used to pay for the shots. But, back in July DH's company merged and even though our company/policy really didn't change, we no longer have the shots paid for. Now, it falls under our copay, and since the shot cost is less than the copay, we are having to pay for them out of pocket.

I had to pay a copay...I think it was about $10-$15 per shot. At the time my dr. visit copay was $20, but since I wasn't seeing the dr. it was at a reduced fee. The insurance did pay for the serums.

I had Blue Cross/ Blue Shield when I was getting my allergy shots. It paid 100% for the shots. Whenever I had to see the doctor I had to pay the copay.

My ex has Cisco and they pay for the allergy shots. They pay 80% and CHAMPVA which I have due to 100% disability rating from VA pays the rest of the shot. My 11 year old's shots are $20 and the 7 year old's are $13 each visit.

Blue Cross says they cover allergy shots, but you must pay your copay each time first. For me that's $35 each visit. However, the actual injections only cost $17.26 (pretty specific, huh?) so the office just charges me that instead of the copay. I have heard of some doctor's offices that charge the full copay amount even if the shots are cheaper. I'd ask.

Also, my DS was just diagnosed with asthma and between the two of us, we have a lot of allergist appointments and shots. Our office has been really nice about comping some things and giving me a 6 month supply of one of my $45 a month prescriptions.

The allergy testing along was almost $2000, but all I had to pay was my copay so I guess insurance is good for something!

we have Blue Cross / Blue Shield and I had to get an allergy shot once a week for 3 years. ( really.... I'm allergic to fire ants) I never had to pay for an allergy shot. It was fantastic because I was terrified I'd have to pay the copay each time. ( who can afford that ???) I only had to pay our copay when I had my yearly checkup w/ my allergist. I feel lucky everyday that we have the insurance that we have.

Our insurance company pays for the injection charge (after our deductible is met). They pay for 90% of the allergy serum. Our company is Blue Cross Blue Shield.

We have Aetna and DS12's are fully covered except for the lidacane they put in the serum. That costs us $3 every time he gets a shot.

We have 2 more years to go on this shot program and so far I haven't seen a difference in his nose congestion, but we will keep on it just in case it ever helps.

We have Cigna. We had a $20 copay for the actual allergy testing, serum covered 100%, shots given by a nurse covered 100%.

We have United Health Care. If they were given during a Dr Visit we just paid the $20 copay. If we go in just for the shot, we only need to see the nurse so we pay nothing.

Yes, but I just found out mine doesn't pay for a well child check-up if they are under the age of 6! Isn't that something that kids under the age of 6 SHOULD do every year? I was shocked to find this out!!!!!!
