If so, what are their favorite shows?

Sorry for all the dog threads I keep posting--I'm tired of the election stuff and my dd has been incredibly good lately so no rants come to mind and I don't want to brag about how fabulous the kid is. :rotfl:

My golden retriever's favorite show is the Dog Whisperer. She will immediately come sit by me on the couch and pay very close attention. When a dog is particularly barky, she'll look at me and roll her eyes and give me a look like, "Can you BELIEVE how bad that dog is?" (She gets in trouble for barking.)

Mine doesn't, but my in laws dog attacks the tv whenever there is an animal on there. They had to put up a board so she didn't keep hitting the glass. She isn't all there though, she also licked and gnawed on her tail so much it had to be amputated.

Charley likes Dig Whisperer too (Like Mommy, like dog ;) )

I loooove when we get the tilty 'wth is going on' head. Makes me laugh... and makes me laugh even harder when he gets up to look and see what's making all the noise - but doesnt look at the TV, he looks into the surround sound speaker.   "How did a dog get in there?"

We actually will change the channel when we leave, and put on Animal Planet for him, every single day. 48" plasma runs all day.... for our dog.

My dog LOVES tv. The problem is she gets super excited by certain shows and starts to bark, etc. We stop her from barking, so she "talks" to the tv in growls and grunts. She sits at high alert, practically trembling with excitement.

Things that she especially loves are any animals, cartoons, people in costumes, high action, science fiction spaces battles, etc. The news, talk shows, etc. she totally ignores.

We actually keep a fireplace screen near by to put in front of our tv to help her keep her excitement in check so it doesn't have to be a battle every time we turn the tv on.

We used to laugh about my childhood dog liking tv, but I think she really just liked to play couch potato. She liked tv from my lap. My current dog, loves it INTENSELY.

Watching something like "dog whisperer" is almost impossible, because I can't relax and watch. I have to be "in control" or she'll start barking. She'll be obedient and not bark, until I turn my attention elsewhere.

Unfortunately, there are people in my family (dh and kids) that think it's cute so I've had a very hard time training her.

My dog never pays any attention to TV unless its a doorbell and then he goes crazy. We don't even have a doorbell! He will run to the door and bark! I assume another owner (he was a pound puppy) had a door bell at some point.

no but she barks at snowflakes...it is going to be a long winter.:)

My cat Belle does...she likes Good Eats, ball games and most animal shows.

We have two labs. Lilly is very sweet, but shall we say academically challenged... She has never noticed the tv and if youi try to get her to look she gets very confused.

Belle on the other hand, is very smart and mischievious. She loves any dog show and horse racing! It is interesting because she only likes "real" dogs, she won't watch animated dogs. Goof ball

My 7 pound rat terrier always watches TV. And she goes nuts and attacks the tv cabinet everytime a dog, cat, horse or any other animal comes on the screen. She actually memorizes the commercials, so that if she hears a familiar jingle or phrase from a commercial, she will come from another room, or out from under the covers to bark at it. She's totally nuts!!!

She pays so much attention, that I was watching a horror movie one night and someone was walking very slowly down a dark hall, with creepy music, and she was growling at the TV. Then she jumped when something popped out LOL!

I should also add, animated, or any kind of animals make her bark. The first one she ever barked at was the computer animated, skeletal dog in the Corpse Bride.

That's very sweet. I'm a nerd because I mainly turn the channel to the Dog Whisperer so I can watch Sunny's reactions. :lmao: It always amazes me how many people are scared of their own dogs.

Your cat, Hedy? I've never seen a cat watch tv. She has good taste, though. I like Good Eats, too! :thumbsup2

Thank you all for sharing your goofy dog stories! I enjoy hearing them.

My dogs seem to care less. Our family dachshund barks at doorbells on TV, bug since I don't have a doorbell in my apartment I have thus far avoided that trick with my dogs.

My cats love that short they play on Disney Channel called "Miniscule". The one wit hthe bugs in it. They will watch that intently. I can just see their little brains thinking, "How to eat, how to eat?" :rotfl:

Our miniature poodle Hailey is weird. She will watch TV, but only really pay attention to commercials. She'll be laying there through most shows, but will perk up when commercials come on.

Maybe it's because she loves certain animals in certain commercials. Especially the bloodhound in the Tidy Cat litter commercial. She has a crush on him like women do Johnny Depp. She gets all fangirly on him.

She will recognize the sounds or music of certain ones when they first come on, like the cat litter one. She also loves the llama in Target's commercials for their Global Bazaar promo. She'll be sound asleep at night and spring into action when she hears the first notes of those commercial jingles.

She must have been an advertising exec in another life.

Our dogs do. Hunter, the Lab, has nothing else to do since having leg surgery back at the end of August. He's to be kept on a leash until around Thanksgiving. I don't think either one has a favorite show. Just watch what mommy watches.
Dudley, the Shih Tzu mix, hates it when you get a station with static. He is deathly afraid of the static on the TV!:rotfl:

TC:cool1:

Both of our dogs are interested in any program with barking/howling dogs~I had a border collie mix that went nuts over any doorbell on tv (and she NEVER lived in a house with a doorbell:confused3 we got her as a YOUNG puppy from the pound)

My Golden Retriver loves to watch Matt Lauer on The Today Show, she will just sit in front of the tv and stare. I think she has the hots for him!

My siamese cat LOVES to watch TV. She loves watching sports, she is a big baseball fan (and watched the PHILLIES win the championship last night!). She also knows how to turn the TV on and we have to turn off the cable box when we leave.

Yes....and if she is in another room and we say there are doggies on t.v. she comes flying in & sits right in front of the t.v.:rotfl:

Not sure why this still amuses me after 7 years:confused3
